Don't forget to come to church tonight for a great time! The sceduele for tonight is on yesterday's post.

1 John 4

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Tomorrow is the last day of the year!! Can you believe it??!?!

I am so excited about tomorrow night! We are going to have so much fun... here is a reminder of the events of the night: 6:00pm Pot Luck Dinner / 7:00pm Praise and Prayer service / 8:00pm PLAY GAMES FOR 2 HOURS / 10:00pm FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!!

I John 4

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Wow! Another passage on the Love of God! Maybe God is serious about this: God tells us that if we do not know how to love then we do not know Him. He also tells us that He showed us love by sending His only begotten son into the World, so thst we might live through Him!! It finishes the paragraph by telling us: If God loved little old sinful us, then we should love other people!! This is so important!

Also: The beginning of the chapter tells us to watch out for teachers of false doctrine!! How do we know if people are teaching lies or not? Compare what they are teaching to the truth of the Word of God.

3 more days 'til the new year!

1 John 3

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

SUNDAY, December 28th, 2008

If you didn't come to church this morning, you missed out! Here is the rest of chapter 2 from yesterday.

1 John 2 (Continued)

12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

SATURDAY, December 27th, 2008

Just a few days left in 2008! Wow! Can you believe that? This was definitely the fastest year of my life! I remember last January like it was yesterday! Well, let's get on to the devotions!

I John 2

1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

This is so powerful! Have you ever heard someone say: "How do you know that you know?" Well... that question could be asked about salvation... How do you know that you know Jesus Christ as your savior? Well, John answers that question for us: He says you can know that you know Jesus Christ if you keep His commandments!!! That is it! Are you more likely to obey God or to disobey Him? Well, then that is how you can know if you know Christ!

It even goes as far as saying: He that says He knows Christ, and does not keep his commandments is a LIAR!!! Wow! That is pretty clear! Do you know Christ as your personal savior? Well, if you are not sure... then you can simply look at your actions!Do your actions prove that you know Christ or do they say that you do not know Christ??

FRIDAY, December 26th, 2008

Hey Everyone! I just talked with Katie and PL and they are on their way home from Jacksonville! They said I could post ANY chapter of the bible I want! I called my dad and he said 1 John 1 is a good chapter that has plenty of good info in it!

1 John 1

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! December 25th, 2008

Hey everyone! I hope that you have a merry Christmas today... I will post some verses later for us to read, but for now we should just wish each other a merry Christmas and go spend time with our families!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2008

hey guys! Merry Christmas Eve!!!! Thanks for doing your devotions! I hope you are having a great day! Thanks for doing your devotions!!

Matthew 2

1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,

6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.

12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

TUESDAY, December 23rd, 2008

Hey Guys! I am up here in Jacksonville! I am having a great time with my family! It is cold here and we are just relaxing around the house today! It is alot of fun! I have a prayer request for you to pray about, but I cant be specific right now... so just consider it an unspoken and I will tell you how to pray when I get home! I miss you guys! Be faithful in the Holidays and into the New Year. Love you all!!!

Matthew 1:

16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

What a neat passage! verse 23 says: a virgin shall be with child and they shall call his name Emmanuel!! WHICH MEANS: GOD IS WITH US!!!

Can you believe that! Our Creator God came to be with us! IN THE FLESH! Thank you God! One fear around this time of the year that I have is that the true meaning of Christmas can easily become very cliche or "boring because we always hear it"... That is unbelievable, but it happens every year with some people! The wonderful story of Christmas becomes something that we read over and over without even thinking about it!! IT is DANGEROUS to take what Christ did for us for granted! Lets remember this Christmas season to really think about what it means for Christ to come into the world to live and then DIE for us and for our sins! When you think about that it almost takes away the Christmas fuzzies, but it gives so much more back~ It gives us a wonderful relationship with Christ, and it gives Eternal life!!!!

Merry Christmas!

MONDAY, December 22nd, 2008

Hey everone! Todayis monday! Just a few days before Christmas! I hope that with all of this extra time because of Christmas break we have more people on their devotions!! Well, thank you Mike for posting these devos today! I appreciate your faithfulness man!

2 Thessalonians 3

1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Verse 14 is very important! It tells us that if there is anyone that is clearly living anti God we must note that person and STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!! Do you hang out with people that are aganst Godin word or actions? Well if you do! God warns you to stay away from them! It is both dangerous to your spiritual life and your future!

SUNDAY, December 21st, 2008

2 Thessalonians 2

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

SATURDAY, December 20th, 2008

Hey If you didn't come with us then you missed out! We went to Gulf Coast town center in Ft. Myers and went to many cool stores! Thanks Jake for coming, because if you didn't, it would have just been me and the adults!

2 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

FRIDAY, December 19th, 2008

Hey you guys! I am excited about tonight! We are going Christmas Caroling at 6:00pm tonight! If you dint have any plans then you should join us! It will be a great time!

So has anyone been sick lately? Katie and I came home on Wednesday night and Katie was very sick, she was throwing up and everything... By 4:00 am I was also very sick! I spent the day in bed all day yesterday and today Will is sick! It is so sad to see my little man throw up!

He wont be coming Christmas Caroling tonight but He should be all better by tomorrow when we go shopping!

I Thessalonians 5

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

That is a powerful statement! Paul says: We pray that God would count you worthy! Worthy of what? Worthy of his calling! God has called you into greatness for His glory! God wants you to live a life obedient to Him and if you do then you will be happy... you will have peace! You will be walking worthy of Gods calling of your life!

Worthy gives the idea of "the worth" of something. It makes me wonder to myself... When God sees the way that I live, does it make his sacrifice worth it, or do my actions make Gods sacrifice a vain sacrifice?? I want to live in a way that makes God look at me and my life saying: It was worth coming to die for you because you have lived for me!!!

What is God worth to you? Well then walk worthy of His calling by living in obedience to Him!

THURSDAY, December 18th, 2008

Remember, Christmas caroling tomorrow night at 6!

1 Thessalonians 4

1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I Thessalonians 3

1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
8 For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Paul is still writing to these people telling them how thankful He is for them! I think it is amazing that Paul was able to do so much for God and we see here that he credits some of his strength and faithfulness to the people he is writing here. In other words it was their faithfulness that motivated Paul to keep going and remain faithful! I know how Paul feels! There are certain people here at Suncoast Baptist Church that I would say the same thing that Paul said to the people of Thesalonica. I would say: Thank you for being faithful! Thank you for doing right! Thank you for being strong! Thank you for serving the Lord! Because all of those things make it so much easier to keep going on and keep serving as well!

We must remember that we do not live and die to ourslves, but every decision we make affects those around us! We must remind ourselves of that whenever we are tempted to quit, sin, be unfaithful, fall away! We never know who will fall away with us!!!

BE FAITHFUL!

I love the last verse, it says that we must strive to be faithful so that in the end we can be blameless and Holy before God! That is a great Goal! That is surely what I want to be, but there is still a lot of work to do to get there!

I can't wait for Christmas to arrive!

1 Thessalonians 2

1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

10 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
20 For ye are our glory and joy.

MONDAY, December 15th, 2008

Hey Guys! This season is going to be very busy and I am sure that you will be just as tempted as I will be to skip the devotions but I want to encourage you to stay faithful! From now until the end of the Christmas Season, I will do a little bit shorter devotions so that there is no excuse about not having time! I am excited about continuing this into the new year. In just about a month we will have been doing devotions on this blog for one year! Wow!

Let's Keep it Up!!

1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.
7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Paul is writing here to the church of Thessalonica, and he is telling them that he is thankful for them! Why? Because of their faithfulness! Verse 3 explains that they were known for their work of faith, their labor of love and their patience of hope!! Wow! I hope that one day that can be said of me! That I am working hard because of my faith in Christ, also that I am working at showing the Love of Christ as much as possible! finally I want to have a patience of hope! I do not want to lose hope in what God is doing even when times are tough I want to keep the hope and trust in His faithfulness!

I love the end of this chapter verse 9 explains that these people were not perfect people... in fact they were idol worshippers before they turned to Christ. But when they finally did accept Christ they had an incredible testimony that the whole world was able to see (even to this day through the word of God)

Wow! I want to have a testimony like that! I am so thankful for their faithfulness! They also remind me that I need to thank the faithful teens in our youth group!! I am so thankful for you guys! You know who you are! The teens that are faithful to church, faithful in your devotions, and faithful to God (most importantly).

Love you guys! Pastor Lee

SUNDAY, December 14th, 2008

We had a good time in sunday school today. You shoild have been there if you weren't!

1 Corinthians 16

1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
3 And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.
4 And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me.
5 Now I will come unto you, when I shall pass through Macedonia: for I do pass through Macedonia.
6 And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go.
7 For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.
8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.
9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
10 Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.
11 Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.
12 As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.
13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
14 Let all your things be done with charity.
15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
16 That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth.
17 I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.
18 For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such.
19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.
20 All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.
21 The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand.
22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.
23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

I know this chapter is boring, but since Pastor Lee has a lovely new cell phone that can do everything except contact Pastor Lee, we're stuck with this chapter.

Verse 13 is the only one that sounds interesting. Always keep being who you are and never let anyone tell you to stop being you.

SATURDAY, December 13th, 2008

Hey guys! Well, if you are reading this before like 2:00 in the afternoon I am in an airport somewhere between Rhode Island and Fort Myers!! I hope you have a great day today and I hope that you COME TO CHURCH TOMORROW MORNING!!!!

I Corinthians 15

29 Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for the dead?
30 And why do we stand in jeopardy every hour?
31 I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32 If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

A Glorious Body
35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?”
36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.
37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain.
38 But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.
44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.
47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

Our Final Victory
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “ O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Wow! This is a great passage that explains to us that DEATH IS NOT THE END!!! Death has been SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY BY JESUS CHRIST!!! I love verse 55 where it says: Death where is your sting, Hell where is your victory! The idea there is: Death is supposed to be painful Hell is supposed to get the victory by adding another sould to the attendance list whenever we die! BUT!!!! THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE!! Christ won the victory over sin and over death and over Hell! Now we do not have to go to hell, if we will simply enlist in God's army by trusting and accepting him as savior then we will be the victors!!!!!

What an amazing chapter! As Christians death is still a sad thing because we are seperated from our loved ones, but it is not the end!! We are only seperated for a short time until we meet our saved loved ones on the other side of eternity!!! I am so excited about this passage!!! Thank you Lord for the victory over death that you have given us!!!

FRIDAY, December 12th, 2008

Hey guys! It looks like everyone but Michael has faded away... Thanks for being faithful Michael... Rachel, are you still sick? I have been praying for you guys! I will be back tomorrow!

See you in church on Sunday!

I Corinthians 15

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.
6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.
8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

The Risen Christ, Our Hope
12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen.
14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.
15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise.
16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.
17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!
18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

The Last Enemy Destroyed
20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.
24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.
25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
27 For “He has put all things under His feet." But when He says “all things are put under Him,” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted.
28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

I think you can tell which verse jumped out at me the most!! Verse 22 explains to us that because Adam sinned, all men have sinned! When Adam chose to sin, his sin passed from father to son all the way to you!! But when Christ died, He reversed what Adams sin did! Christs death made it so that all men could have eternal life!! (If you accept it!)

I also love verse 10 where it says: I am what I am by the grace of God!!! That is definitely my testimony! Grace is "God giving us what we do not deserve" and I have been given so much that I do not deserve!!!! So I too could say: I am what I am because of the grace of God! Thank you Lord for your Amazing Grace!!

Here is the rest from yesterday.

1 Corinthians 14

21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

WEDNESDAY, December 10th, 2008

PL is on the road right now in RI. He is sick, along with me and Rachel. If your sick too, the three of us will pray that your cold will go away. Prophesy= Preaching

1 Corinthians 14

1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.
12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

TUESDAY, December 9th, 2008

Hey everyone! Sorry that we missed yesterday! I was in an airport for most of the day and then when I finally got out of the airport I was so tired that I slept until dinner then spent some time with family and then went back to bed again! I am very sick, so if you think about it please say a prayer for me! I would love to get beeter like: TODAY!!!!

Well, I will make sure that I have time to come on here everyday and post some kind of Devotions (even all the way up here in Rhode Island) If I cannot make it on Saturday then I am hoping that Michael willl be able to make it up for me!

Well, the next chapter is one that we have looked at several times in youth group, and it is a VERY IMPORTANT PASSAGE!!!! Think about this: WHAT IS LOVE?

That is such an important question? There are many different definitions, but none define the word Love like we see it defined here in I Corinthians 13. This is a great passage and one that each of you should memorize so that when you are wondering if that special person really "loves" you, this passage will make it clear... or if you are wondering if you really "love" that person... this passage will make it clear... onto I Corinthians 13

REMEMBER: Anytime the word Charity is used in this passage you can switch it for the word: "LOVE"

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

This is one of my most favorite passages in the Bible! I love the way that God defines Love in this chapter... There were quite a few times in my life where I thought that I was "in love" with some girl... but the truth is I was not. The reason I know this is because although I really liked the person, I did not "suffer long" I did not "rejoice in truth" I did not believe all things, and on and on...

There are even a few couples I can think of right now that are even married but they do not really love each other... They may say it, but the truth is, their actions do not show it! There is so much power in the words of this chapter!

If someone is telling you they love you, and they are trying to get you to sin, this passage says... they dont really love you instead they love themselves! Maybe you are in a relationship where someone is always getting mad at you? or maybe you are getting mad at someone else all the time! ... is that longsuffering? That word simply means you are willing to "suffer long" because of someone.

When someone wants a divorce they have decided not to be longsuffering anymore... when someone fights back in an argument, it is because they have decided that they deserve better and they do not want to suffer anymore...

Love beareth ALL THINGS, BELIEVETH ALL THINGS, Hopes (the best) in ALL THINGS, and best of all: LOVE ENDURETH ALL THINGS!!!

Mayabe you are sitting there saying: I have never seen a love like that... well, we have a perfect example in Jesus Christ! He beareth all things for you, and he endures all things for YOU!!!!! Thank you God for loving us!!!

SUNDAY, December 7th, 2008

PL is super busy. Again. Why am I not surprised? Here is the rest of chapter 12 from yesterday.

1 Corinthians 12

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

SATURDAY, December 6th, 2008

Sorry for posting so late, I'm really sick and never got to do it earlier. I figured PL would have done it by now, but I'm sure he's busy.

1 Corinthians 12

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

Hello Everyone... can I just tell you that when you trust God and follow Him (even if you mess up as often as I do) He Blesses you more than I can share in this blog!!! And it is not just because He provides "stuff" for me, it is all about the peace, the joy, and the fact that I have to worry about Nothing because everything I have is in His hands! And he will take care of me!

Well, yesterday God provided us with our new vehicle... We were able to purchase a 2003 Ford Expedition! I Love It!!! If you want a ride in it then give me a call and schedule an appointment!! :) J/K!

Ok, well on to the devotions!

I must say this today:
One of the greatest blessings in my ministry here at Suncoast is the few faithful teenagers that are in the Word of God so consistently! Rachel Mace and Michael Stratton and a few others... THANK YOU!!

I Corinthians 11:

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

Wow! This passage is unbelievable! Paul is telling the Corinthian church that they should be ashamed! They were going to church for the "Lord's Supper" and getting drunk off the wine!! They were obeying God by partaking in the Lords supper, but they were doing for the wrong reason!!! They were looking at the Lords supper as if it were some kind of party or something! It was a way for them all to eat and drink wine and GET DRUNK!!!

God created that to be a time of reflection as we saw last week! NOT a time to fellowship and certainly not a time to get drunk! Think about it... What if you had a memorial service for you or someone you loved and everyone came and acted like it was some kind of party!! What if everyone came to your memorial service to get drunk and party!!! That is not what I would want, if it were one of my loved ones memorial services!!!!

Well, here is the application for us... (besides taking the Lords supper serious!! Which is pretty obvious!) I think just as the corinthians did, there are many people today who come to church for the wrong reasons!!! I know some people and they come because we are going to play a funny game, or maybe some of them come to hear Pastor Lee's Jokes... ok maybe not... but there are many people who come for the fellowship, they come for the good music, or maybe they come just to feel good about themselves... God makes it clear that we need to come for the right reason! We need to be here at church so that we can grow closer to the Lord and so that we can worship our Savior for all of the wonderful things He has done for us!!!

Hey everyone! Thanks for being faithful!

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Michael: "Sponsered by Jesus/ Smokin the Devil"... WHERE DO YOU COME UP WITH THIS STUFF??
Jessica: How did you go ahead? Do you read it out of the Bible?
Mallory: Did you wake up sick this morning? I DID AND I HATE IT!!!
Rachel: The Wilds is definitely a spiritually safe place... I always say that the Wilds is the closest place to Heaven on Earth!! I Love it Too!!

I Corinthians 11

1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Hold on... I have to go ask Pastor Chip about this one...

...

This is interesting stuff! Let me start with the clearest meesage: verse 1 and 2. Wow! Once again, Paul is living a lifestyle that he can just say: Follow me as I follow Christ. I would love for that to be my motto! I would love to be able to say: TEENAGERS!!!! FOLLOW ME AS I FOLLOW CHRIST! But to be honest, if I am going to say that, then I better make sure that there is nothing between me and Christ. If I want you to follow me then I BETTER BE heading stright down the path to Christ!!

Can you say that about your unsaved friends? Could you tell them: Hey! Follow me as I follow Christ!

Now, onto the interesting part...
I went and read Warren Wiersbe's commentary on this passage adn I think he does a great job at explaining a foundation that makes this passage a little easier to understand...

IN EVERYTHING THERE IS A CHAIN OF COMMAND: In school, you have students, teachers, administrators, principals, county school board, supervisor of education and so on...

In the military you will have a private, a captain, a general and so on... but the private may be a better man than the captain...

In other words, this passage explains that God did create a chain of command with people as well... however, just because one is higher on the chain does not mean that they are better, or more special.

Even God the Father is higher on the Chain than Jesus Christ, but we know that they are co-equal!

So with that being said... lets look at this passage... FIRST: Here are a few things you would need to know...

Because of the culture in these days women had to cover their heads, because women prostitutes would shave their heads, that is why it says several times that a woman without hair or with a shaved head should be ashamed...

So that does not necessarily apply to today because that is no longer a relevant issue today, however, it says that a guy should not cover his head when he is praying and even today it is culterally respectful to take your hat off when you pray, or when you sing the national anthem or some even say when you enter a building... (I personally never understood that one... maybe someone can explain it to me)

So the message is: We need to be reverent about our relationship with Christ. It is not something that we should view flippantly, instead we should carefully consider, we need to approah the throne of God in respectul Prayer.

Hey guys! Church tonight! 7:00pm AND after that we are going out to a restaurant for Nick Hill's Birthday! Find out if you can join us and let me know!

I Corinthians 10

15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.
27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
28 But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:
29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

We just took the Lords supper rececntly and it would have been good to study this passage before we did. This passage makes it clear that we should not be partaking of the cup and living for the devil (or our flesh) the next day... God makes it clear that taking communion is very important and not to be taken lightly...

One thing that sometimes bothers me is how we talk and pass gum and goof off during the Lords supper... God created that time for a SERIOUS reflection on what Christ did for us and how we are living for Him. I can think of many times when I have had to go take care of something at the alter before I took of the body and the blood of Christ!

Next time we have the Lords supper be serious minded and make sure people arent goofing off around you!!

Finally, verse 31 is one most of you all should know!!! This is one you said three times a day at the wilds! Whether therefore you eat or drink, do all for the glory of God.

Don't do things for yourself, dont even do things for others, do them for God and His glory!! That is whwat we were created for! To glorify God with our lives!!!

I Corinthians 10

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

This passage is full of stuff! Let me explain the first part: It begins by saying I do not want you to be ignorant about God's chosen people in the wilderness... They were spiritual just like us, they ate the same food we did, they prayed just like we did, they sang songs just like we did... but they DID NOT PLEASE GOD!!!! WOW! They do many things just like we do, but they were not pleasing God. Why not? Well we see that they were involved in alot of sin... they were in lust, idolatery, fornication, complaining, and they tempted Christ. Well, because of their sin, they did not please God... so Paul reminds us in the rest of this passage that we DO NOT HAVE TO SIN!!!! He tell us that thee is no temptation that has taken us that we cannot escape it! We can say no to every temptation that we face... How do I know that? Because God says that he will not allow us to be tempted y something that is way more than we can handle! Seriously! God allows certain temptations, because He KNOWS THAT WE CAN CHOOSE TO DO RIGHT in that circumstance! If you are facing temptation today: remember that God is giving you a chance to please Him and HE KNOWS THAT YOU CAN! DO IT!

MONDAY, December 1st, 2008

Wow! It is December! only 25 days until Christmas! This is going to be one BUSY week!! We have practice for the Splendor of Christmas performance several nights and then Saturday and Sunday we will be performing the presentation... Then... Monday (one week from today) Katie and I are going to Rhode Island! I am pretty excited about that! But we have to get through this week first!

I Corinthians 9 (we did 8 in sunday school yesterday)

1 Am I am not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
2 If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
3 Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,
4 Have we not power to eat and to drink?
5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
6 Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
7 Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
8 Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
9 For it is written in the law of Moses, thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
15 But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void. 16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Verse 14 is incredible! It tells us that if we have received the gospel then we should live like we believe it! Do your actions prove that you believe it or not? I know there are many times a week where my actions would lead people to think that I am not a follower of Christ because if I were a follower then I would act like Christ.

Verse 22 at the end is also very nice... it explains that we should do everything we can (except sin) to reach people for Christ! What have you done lately to share the gospel with someone?? I know that I need to try a little more to share the gospel with people that may not know Christ!

Buffalo Wild Wings Reward Activity!! Thanks for being faithful!
