I am only going to type one verse tonight, because I read it, and I think we can all grow in this verse ALOT... so lets meditate on it tonight!

I Peter 2:1

1. Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

This verse is pretty clear.... IF YOU HAVE any of these things GET THEM OUT OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!

Bitterness!! Jealousy!! Fakeness!! AND A TRASHY MOUTH... We need to get rid of these if we are going to obey our Lord! How have you been with these things today?? How about the past week? Well, this verse makes it clear we need to GET THOSE THINGS OUT OF OUR LIFE!!!!

SMALL VERSE / HUGE IMPACT!!!!!

Hey everyone! Great Job on the devotions yesterday, I think that we are really going to enjoy going through I Peter. I really wish that more teenagers were back on this... do you guys have any ideas on what we can do to get everone involved again? Let me know...

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:

Mrs. Wutka: Thanks for posting that testimony! That was a great illustration! I am so glad that our efforts and our fruit from the Lord will not devalue or fade away!
Michael: Very Interesting Hospital illustration. :) Do you hate hospitals or something? "...(unless they are brainless psycho losers that don't keep their promises)..."
McCue: Hey man, Election is a much debated topic, but it is definitely one that is undeniable. The fact is there are many passages that talk about election... (God electing or choosing who will be saved) There are some people with calvanistic beliefs who would tell you that God randomly chose certain people to be saved, and certain people to be cast into Hell... I do not believe this to be true based on the truth that God is Just, also there are several scriptures that explain that Christ wants "All to believe" I believe that scripture is clear that God did choose people to be saved. The Bible says this: "Whom He also did foreknow, he also did predestinate" in other words... the people that God knew would accept Him... (Because God definitely knows who would accept Him and who wouldnt) ...those are the ones that are the elect... I understand your thoughts about evangelism... I would wonder that too based on calvanistic doctrine, but the fact is: God makes it clear we are supposed to evangelize, and we do not know who is chosen or not (because we do not have the foreknowledge of God) so we must tell all, and some will receive Him and some will not. God knew all along who would accept Him and who would reject Him. Sorry so Long!
Lucy: Thanks for being faithful girl!

I Peter

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;
15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you
21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

The Enduring Word
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
24 because “ All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away,
25 But the word of the LORD endures forever.”
26 Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

I have already typed a lot today, so I will not go on for too long, but I want to share my thoughts on the first part of the passage and the last part of the passage.

First: Verse 13-16 make it clear that we are supposed to live a Holy life! Remember what Holy means? It means to be separate from Sin. God is seperated from sin, and if we want to be as close as possible to God we must also be seperate from sin. We must say NO! to our lust, and we must not be fooled by our ignorance. We must obey God and stay away from sin.

Last: Verses: 22 - 25: A continuation of the incorruptible passage yesterday... we see that the Word of God is INCORRUPTIBLE!!! It cannot be destroyed! The word of the Lord lives and abides forever!! That is great! I love the way Peter not only tells us something, but then he explains it with a great illustration. Peter explains to us that just like grass dies, and floweers die, we will die too!! But the fact is: God's word will never die! It endures forever. Wow! It sounds pretty important! Maybe we should make it a BIG PART OF OUR LIVES!!!! I know you have if you are getting into Gods word each day! Great Job! Keep it Up!

Hey Teens! I hope you were in youth group last night! It was a great night! We have begun our series on love. Make sure you come each week as we focus on "February: The Month of Love" It will be an exciting time to learn all about Gods plan for dating, love, sex and more... See you next Wednesday Night!!

I Peter 1

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.

There is a lot of great substance in these 12 verses. Lets start at verse 1. Peter, an apostle: remember when letters or books were written during this time they would sign the letter with a signature at the beginning instead of the end. (it kind of makes sense, then at least you know who it is from the whole time you are reading it) Well, Peter, signs his name, an apostle. This means "One who is sent"... today it would be defined as a missionary. We are all apostles, because God has sent us all to share the truth about His salvation with the lost. Are you sharing the truth? Are you a good apostle or not?

Verse 2 we see that Peter is making it clear that he was elected by God, in God's foreknowledge... that basically means, God chose to save Peter, because God knew before time that Peter would accept Him. Think about it like this... If I have 100 tickets to the superbowl, and I am giving them out to whoever wants them... Do you think that I am just going to set a stack of them in the bathroom or something? I dont think so... I am going to pass them out carefully, only to the people that I KNOW WILL ACTUALLY GO!!!

Well, God knows exactly who will accept Him and receive His salvation and He knows who will not... therefore God elects... or chooses to save those that He knows will accept Him. I am so thankful that God created me with a willing heart to receive His salvation and I am thankful that He elected me!

The passage goes on and talks about greta things... our incorruptible gifts!! How we are kept by the power of God... (we cannot lose our salvtion... Gods power is what keeps me saved... not my own power)

Then I must talk about verses 6 and 7. It explains that we will face various trials, to show the genuiness of our faith... When tough times come, do you find yourself turning toward God or running away? Well, God sometimes allows those trials to come to prove how much we love Him... just like we talked about in youth group last night! He allows those tough times so that we may take part in praise honor and Glory! What a great God! I am thankful that even when he allows me to go through the valley, he is watching over me, and only allowing me to struggle with what He knows I can handle!!

What did you get out of this passage?

TUESDAY, February 3rd, 2009

Hey Guys! Great Job Yesterday! It was exciting to see 4 of you on the devotional blog yesterday! Good Job! You guys are an encouragement! I am excited about what we are about to do! Today we will do Psalm 25 and then when chapter 25 is done, we are going to take a break from the Psalms and we will go to another passage which you will see tomorrow! Make sure you check it out!

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Michel: I loved what you said about: "Even if you seem unhelpable" That is great!
Michel M: Wow! Great stuff man! Quite Inspirational!!! Keep up the good work!!
Rachel: With Him, I am sure you will overcome!!! :) We Love Ya Girl!!

Psalm 25

1 Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.
8 Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

This is another great Psalm. I love the first two verses. When I was growing up we used to sing a song that had those words in it!! I would always sing it, and then when it got to verse 2 where it says: "Oh My God, I Trust in Thee" I always thought it was soooooooo Bad!!!! Because it had a "BAD WORD" in it! I could never understand why I was not allowed to say: "Oh My ***", But I WAS ALLOWED TO SING IT!!!! I couldnt figure it out! The fact is: The words are not bad in themselves, but the context in which we use the words are what is important. If I say those three words in vain, then it is wrong, but if I say those three words as I am calling out to God, then there is nothing wrong with it!!!!!!!

I Also Love Verse 21!!!

Let Integrity and Uprightness PRESERVE ME!!!! For I wait on thee! What a great passage! If I cannot live a life of Character, then I will not be happy, but if I can have integrity and live with uprightness, then I will be successfull in Gods eyes! and I will excperience happiness!!

MONDAY, February 2, 2009

Hey everyone! Can you believe that yesterday was our 365th devotion!!! That means we did a years worth of devotions yesterday!! I cannot believe it! There were many times that the year seemed like it was going slow, but the fact is that I cannot believe we are standing here looking back at one year of devotions!!!! Incredible!

Psalm 24

1 The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

When I was at the wilds one summer, our Red team theme verse was verse 8. Everyday we would shout out to the top of our lungs!! Psalm 24:8!!!! WHO IS THIS KING OF GLORY???? THE LORD!!!! STRONG AND MIGHTY!!!!! THE LORD!!!!! MIGHTY IN BATTLE!!!!!!

That berings back such great memories! I remember hearing stories about how hard some peoples lives were... some kids who had no parents, somu kids whos family had died just months before, some kids who were addicted to some serious drugs!! And I was able to remind them of this chant!! Who is this king of Glory? The Lord!!! HE IS STRONG AND MIGHTY!!! Those words are so powerful as they remind us that our Lord is a God that is full of Glory, and He gets even more glory by doing wonderful things in our lives!!

No matter what trial or tribulation we face, we can know that we are on the Lords side and he is MIGHTY IN BATTLE!!! He will win the victory EVERY TIME!!!!

I am so glad I have the Lord on My side!!!! :)

SUNDAY, February 1st, 2009

Well, there were many great opportunities for you to learn something great about God, so instead of us looking at a passage, if you read this, just share something that challenged you.

I loved the messages from Pastor Chip today! Both this morning and tonights message were great! This morning pastor spoke to su about building a life in the sand. I think it was of God how pastors message fit right into what we talked about in Sunday School. Pastor talked about how there are many Christians who are "fake" and although they look good on the outside their foundation is not what it should be!!

What is the foundation of your life? Is it Jesus Christ?

Then tonight, Pastor spoke about how we need to have the wisdom of God. It was a great message and a great reminder that we need to seek Gods wisdom every day of our life! I was thankful that pastor did something a little different with the invitation and gave us the opportunity to take a moment to pray to ask God for for His Wisdom!~ This is so important and somthing that I want to remember to do every day!

Buffalo Wild Wings Reward Activity!! Thanks for being faithful!
