I Corinthians 10

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

This passage is full of stuff! Let me explain the first part: It begins by saying I do not want you to be ignorant about God's chosen people in the wilderness... They were spiritual just like us, they ate the same food we did, they prayed just like we did, they sang songs just like we did... but they DID NOT PLEASE GOD!!!! WOW! They do many things just like we do, but they were not pleasing God. Why not? Well we see that they were involved in alot of sin... they were in lust, idolatery, fornication, complaining, and they tempted Christ. Well, because of their sin, they did not please God... so Paul reminds us in the rest of this passage that we DO NOT HAVE TO SIN!!!! He tell us that thee is no temptation that has taken us that we cannot escape it! We can say no to every temptation that we face... How do I know that? Because God says that he will not allow us to be tempted y something that is way more than we can handle! Seriously! God allows certain temptations, because He KNOWS THAT WE CAN CHOOSE TO DO RIGHT in that circumstance! If you are facing temptation today: remember that God is giving you a chance to please Him and HE KNOWS THAT YOU CAN! DO IT!

I've heard something like this somewhere else in the bible, that God will never let us be tempted more than we can handle, but I just don't know where. Yeah see, God doesn't overload you with temptations. Even though those temptations are coming from the father of lies (Satan), he only has SO MUCH POWER. Like before the great flood, the demons had the power to make offspring called...uh... Nephilium, which were giants. Since we don't see giants anymore, I'm sure after the flood, God took that power away from the demons. Anyway, Satan's power is limited and he can't tempt you more than God will allow.

Okay PL, you win. I won't post more than 25. So I will post 24 today. Just kidding.

Here Paul is warning us against idolatry, he is warning us against immorality, and he is warning us against temptations. This chapter talks about how we should never put God to the test! He knows everything we don’t!

Paul is saying here how nothing that we go through in our “ modern” lives is any different then what “they” experienced back then.

I really like the verse that talks about how God is continually faithful and will never let us be tempted beyond our ability; but he will use these temptations we face and provide ways of escape.

Then we go down to vs. 21 and it talks about how we cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. In other words, if I don’t completely surrender to God then I do not need to even try to go halfway. It won’t work! I can’t claim to totally live for God and then live in the world at the same time. He loves me too much to watch me turn my back on HIM when HE deserves so much better.

hey sorry i havnt been on in a while. I will try to continue to stay on everyday!

so i think this passage is cool because it says how we can escape the temptation by doing right. So if we are in a situation where we are tempted to do wrong then we still have a chance to overcome that sin by doing right. I think its cool how God allows certain temptations into our life knowing that we can choose to do the right thing. Also God will not make it too hard for us, or bigger than what we are capable of doing. (since Hes God He knows whats hard for us) anyways when your in temptations just choose the right path and do it!!! you will be rewarded for being faithful! :) bye for now!

So i really like verse 13.
I've found its really useful when encouraging people too.
A lot of times we really need this sort of reminder when we feel that we are giving into a temptation or slipping into sin.
I've noticed, especially lately, that we like to convince ourselves when we are stuck in sin that we can't help it because its "impossible to resist" or that "it's just inevitable", but here we are reminded that we CAN and it ISNT.
Not only are we told that we can bear these circumstances, we read that it's all a work of God, and He always has planned an escape.
Usually i forget when i feel that im stuck in sin that its just Satans little game, and the creator of the game is on my side.
I dont know, but thats pretty motivating to me.

See you guys tomorrow (:
