Proverbs 25

1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:
10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14 Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
24 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

There is a lot of good stuff in theses short 28 verses. There were a few of them that really jumped out at me. I will explain those verses.

Verse 11: A nice, kind word at the right time is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! It is so valuable as if it were a picture of gold and silver.

Verse 17: Have you ever had company over that just would not leave? This is another example of Solomns wisdom becausse he explains to us that we need to leave a place before we are asked to leave. :) If we have good friends, we shouldnt stay at their house all the time to the point that we annoy them... give them a break! GO HOME!!

Verse 19: Have you ever had a broken tooth? a foot out of joint? IT HURTS SO BAD!!! Well, in the same way it is very painful to p[ut your trust in someone whwo is not faithful. An unfaithful friend, an unfaithful husband or wife, an unfaithful parent... All of these are PAINFUL SITUATIONS!!!!! THEY HURT! Dont be unfaithful!

Verse 24 is hilarious!!! What do you think about it?

The last verse is so increibly important... If you have no rule over your spirit... then you are like a city without walls... In other words, you are going to be easy to attack and destroy if you cannot control your spirit!!

It is so important to control your heart!!!!

Verse 24 is funny, Pastor Lee! At first, I thought it ment something else, like not literally, but I guess it is! It is saying that it is better off living in a small, crowded attic, then with a mean woman in a mansion! That sounds pretty extreme to me, but it's God's Word all the same, so I guess it is in a serious tone.

P.s. Pastor Lee, I will meet you at the church a 4 tomorrow afternoon for, "The secret"

i think this passage is based around your spirit. this ENTIRE passage talks about how to be happy in your soul. it gives examples of how to remain happy.

yes, verse 24 is funny...

and i to would rather be caught up in a peacefull corner than be in a mansion with my mom. :D

LOL CARY! youre a jerk.:P

And verse 24...im just going to try and make something out of it cause it sounds funny (:
Dont choose to always be around someone who is going to be angry and make you angry all the time, its better to live in a lonlier or less physically comfortable place than to force yourself or choose to be around angry people or a person who brings out the worst in you.
Now even though i dont, i know some people have siblings and i guess youd juts have to TRY your hardest to stay on good terms with them if thats the case.
For me, i guess i could just choose to have peaceful relationhips with those i live with and choose good people to be around otherwise.

see you all bright and early, well sorta erly.

Your right verse 24 is funny and I think this verse talks about staying in the corner of an empty small house than in a big house with a tough chick.

Soooo this passage compares a lot of things together to make it easier for us to understand or just make some of us confused. jk anyways there really isnt anything else I can add but to control your heart mind and mouth because if you dont then you are like a city that is broken down, and without walls.(verse 28) This verse leads up to many things such as who we tell ourselves to hang out with or just basically what we want to do or what God wants us to do. There is alot of good stuff we can learn from in these verses even though most of them give examples. they are all helpful and Gods word! bye see you guys tomorrow morning!!

one verse that caught my attention was verse 17-with draw thy foot from thy neighbor's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee-that means if you are at someones house, don't stay there for a really long time to where they don't want you anymore or to where they will hate you for not leaving, just leave either when they ask or when you have been there for a long time. it is hard for me to do that because i go to my friends house sometimes and it seems like i have been there for a long time but they don't ask me to leave. so i don't leave for a long time and i never really thought of that as being rude and inconsiderate and i never thought about the other person, but i will do that now. also verse 24-it is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling women in a wide house-that means if you are with a women (probably your wife) and she gets mad for some reason that you should probably leave you alone for a while and let her cool down.
