Another week of school and a lot of other stuff!! Today is Rachels Birthday so everyone make sure to sing happy birthday to her if you see her at school! Happy Birthday Rachel!

Genesis 40

1 It came to pass after these things that the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt offended their lord, the king of Egypt.
2 And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief butler and the chief baker.
3 So he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Joseph was confined.
4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; so they were in custody for a while.
5 Then the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, had a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.
6 And Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them, and saw that they were sad.
7 So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in the custody of his lord’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
8 And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.”
9 Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “Behold, in my dream a vine was before me,
10 and in the vine were three branches; it was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
11 Then Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”
12 And Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.
13 Now within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former manner, when you were his butler.
14 But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.
15 For indeed I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews; and also I have done nothing here that they should put me into the dungeon.”
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and there were three white baskets on my head.
17 In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
18 So Joseph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.
19 Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you.”
20 Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
21 Then he restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.
22 But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

This is a fairly simple story. Joseph is in prison for something He did not do, yet he trusts God through the trial and that is how He can have such a great attitude even in the situation that he is in. I think it is pretty funny that He walks up to the butler and the baker and says: " You look sad today". Well, I would think they would say: OF COURSE WE ARE SAD TODAY!! WE ARE SITTING IN PRISON!! But Joseph could not comprehend that attitude, because he knew that whatever happened was in Gods control and if Gods plan for his life was to sit in a prison cell, then he would be happy to obey!

Are you like that? Or do you have a conditional love for Christ? Do you love him when things are going well, but blame Him when things are not so well? Maybe it is the other way around, maybe you ignore Him while tings are good, and you turn to Him when things are going bad? Well, neither one of those are the best... We should ALWAYS trust Gods plan for our lives. If we are following God in Holiness then no matter where Gods path takes us, we should be thrilled to be a part of Gods plan.

Well, the rest of the story goes like this: The Chief butler, and chief baker are sent to prison for some reason... When they get in there, they meet Joseph. One day, Joseph notices that they look a little bit more sad than usual. So Joseph asks them what is going on... They tell Joseph, we had some dreams, but we have no one to interpret them.

Joseph sees this as an opportunity to Glorify God! So what does he do? Joseph explains to them that dreams are given by God, so He would tell them what those dreams meant. Well Joseph explains that one of them will go back to work and the other will be hanged.

Joseph made it clear! WHEN YOU GET BACK INTO THE PALACE: DO NOT FORGET ME!!!! Well, They forgot him. But the great part is that Joseph did not get bitter... Joseph got better. He continued to realize that this was Gods plan for his life!

What has God taken you through lately? Is it tough? Well, maybe He is preparing you for something great like He was doing with Joseph. Trust God in everything! If you are far from God, then turn back to Him TODAY!!!!!

He will not let you down!!

It is so easy to turn away from God when things aren't going well. Each and every day as I read the bible I learn of more and more men and women who held steadfast to their faith, even through trying times. Our God is certainly an amazing God. No matter how we behave he is always there for us and always read for us to follow him on the path to righteousness. It is amazing to wake up everyday and know that the Lord is behind me in all I do. Temptation is lurking behind every corner on this campus but there is also an opportunity to praise God and to spread light in a place of darkness. I pray that I can have faith and strength as Joseph did, to remain faithful, no matter what.

:] Another week of school ahead.

Happy birthday Rachel! I wish you would have come on AFTER me so you could see that I said happy birthday to you. I hope you look at the devotions more than once a day!

Anyway, Joseph had a bunch of strenth not to get bitter when the butler forgot him when Joseph told him not to forget him. But when Joseph realized it was God working in his life, I could see why he didn't get mad.

Pastor Lee, I had a very interesting conversation with an athiest today at school. I would tell you about it, but it would take all night for me to type it out, so I'll tell you about it on wednesday night.

The main lesson to be learned here is that men may fail you BUT God will NEVER fail you. He will also carry you through no matter what. "Trust in the Lord with ALL thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In ALL thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." Prov. 3:5-6
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RACHEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow I have to be more more like Joseph, he was so patient to see what God has for him. Everything that happens must happen for a reason. So these two people have these dreams and don;t know what they mean. So they to Joseph and tells them that "this and this" means "this and this". Then "this and this" actually happens to them.

happy birthday rachel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

neway to the devos..

so we see here that joseph is in prison and he sees that there are two prison mates in there with him.

on is pharoas chief butler, and the other one is the chief baker.

they both have a dream. they butler had a dream of 3 vines that are plentifull with grapes and he makes wine for the pharroh.

joseph said that this meant that he would get his job back as the chief butler.

the baker, not so lucky. his dream was of 3 baskets on his head. the top one was plentiful with bread and other baked goods.

and the crows and ravens came and ate his bread.

joseph said that this meant that the pharroh was gonna chop off his head and hang his body out to eat his flesh.

this is just another sign of gods great power and his useage of good people willing to be a tool for god.

PEACE

lol thatsa different rachel michael;
mine has a picture

& THANKYOU GUYSSS (:

Okay so what i have to saya bout this passage is pretty much what Mrs. W said; the butler failed to remeber & mention Joseph to Pharaoh and was left in that yucky prison.
Sure, he was probabaly bummed that he was forgotten and left in such an unfavorable place, but he stayed calm because he knew God hadnt forgotten him.
Sometimes God has to put some not-so-great things in your life so that you can realize how much you need him, or, like Joseph, for His plans to be fulfilled.
Like Joseph, i should remember that God knows exactly was He has planned for me, and no matter how hard things get, to trust Him because He will never leave me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well this starts out by 2 more people coming into prison, the chief buttler and the baker. one day they seemed really sad so joseph asked what was wrong and they both said that they had a dream but no one could interpret them. so they both told their dreams to joseph and the chief buttler would end up going back to work for pharoh and give pharoh his cup, and the baker would be hung and the birds would eat his flesh. so what he interpreted happened and he told the chief buttler to remember him and mention him to pharoh but the chief buttler forgot and joseph was left in the prison. also joseph did this to praise God and not to brag about being able to interpret dreams. so we need to be more like joseph and do things to please God not to get gratitude for ourselves. also we need to be more like joseph all around but thats almost impossible.

Happy B-day Rachel

In this passage Joseph is trapped in a jail cell for a long time and yet he never loses faith in God. I know if I was in his situation I would say "Why me God, I've done nothing wrong" But Joseph still trusts God and prays to Him. We all need the undying faith that Joseph had.

RACHEL HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PASTOR LEE I GUESS YOU DONT HAVE TO TELL HER NOW!!!!ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!

on the devos:

it is easy to see that Joseph is in prision for something he didnt even do!(how rude!).well, pastor lee it is funny cause i thought that was funny too.anyway~ joseph trusted god to deliever him.i think alot of the time people forget to do this and endup making the "wrong" choice.for example if i am about to take a major exam i find that i typically do better if i ask god about it before hand and TRUST that he will deliver me.

p.s: reachel i hope that you had the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!!!!!!

Happy birthday to Rachel, Happy Birthday to Rachel Happy birthday to Rachellllll...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!! Hey I kind of tried to find some nice people today pastor lee to see if there were any like we talked about in the van... still looking! I guess there are maybe a COUPLE but not many that are well liked by everyone! anyways...

Well Joseph is sitting here in prison for something he did not do and had the best attitude about it! He trusted and obeyed God and was patient with what God was going to do with his life! That's how we need to act. We also see that the butler and baker are put in prison and have dreams that they do not understand so Joseph asks them why they look more sad than usual and they explain! So Joseph tells them what the dreams mean and I think that is really cool especially since God gave Joseph something to do while being in prison for no reason! anyways we need to have the attitude that Joseph had! bye for now everyone!
