Well teenagers, today we are going camping at Myakka State Park. We will be leaving around 1:45 so get your devos finished before you come up to the church! If you have any questions about this outstanding campout just give pastor Lee a call.

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Kacey: That was pretty funny when you said: "I only got 7 hours of sleep last night"
Jessica B: I hope your headache is better! I am thankful that your Mom changed her mind and is now letting you come!
McCue: We miss you man! You qualified for the Reward Trip so if you want to fly back and hang out with is in two weekends that would be awesome! I am so thankful for you and proud of you for being faithful in spite of so many obstacles!! Keep up the Great Work!
Brooke: I love the way you said: "We have the truth of God right at our Grasp" also... I thought it was funny how your "Deviled" eggs made you lose track of your devotions... it that just a coincidence?
Phil: I hope that you are reading this before anyone else so that you can be the first to comment ON YOUR BIRTHDAY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN!! (Happy Birthday to Jake as well)
Gaby: Will told me to tell you that He had fun hanging out with you before the service tonight, and I am glad that Wednesday nights are your favorite time of the week! :)
Jessica Massey: To bad you cant sleep in, can you? Because you have volley ball practice dont you?

John 6:41-60

41 The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”
42 And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”
43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves.
44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.
46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father.
47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.
48 I am the bread of life.
49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
52 The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”
53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.
56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.
58 This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”
59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”

Wow... It is sad to see how ignorant man can be. Think about this: Jesus is still trying to explain to these men how they can have eternal life, but they are taking everything He is saying out of context or misunderstanding Him. Verse 60 really makes it clear what this whole section was about: They admit that they do not understand what God is talking about in this passage! Lets quickly go back to the beginning.

Once again, this passage continues the conversation between Jesus and all of these followers. They are more skeptical than ever. They try to put everything that Jesus is saying together... so they think that They must eat a certain kind of bread to have eternal life... Then they hear that Jesus Christ is that bread... So they figure that (GET THIS) they must eat Jesus to be able to go to heaven.

Wow... that just shows how confusing we can make things when we try to explain the wisdom of God to the simplicity of man. God says that His ways are High above our ways.

Obviously Christ did not mean to eat his flesh, he meant that we should be so consumed with Jesus that He is the source and the substance of our life!

Is Jesus the main part of your life? Do you know who He is?

The Bible tells us that we are to "Taste and See that the Lord is Good" Are you consumed with the Lord? HAve you tasted him? NOT LITERALLY! But have you experienced the great satisfaction of a wonderful close relationship with Jesus Christ?

Do It Today!

yeah!!!!!!!! i'm first.
pastor lee im glad my mom changed her mind to but she is still freaking out.and she wanted to know what we are going to do if it rains so i told her we will pray like there i sno toworow. but she said there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms and hail! oh well i am sure we will have fun rain or shine!!!

okay so i am going to start out by saying that these people sound pretty confused.first they think that he is jesus the son of joseph, and clearly that is not right because they continue to be confused. so jesus explains to them that the bread was sent from the heavens not from joseph.but still these people continue to be stuburn.so now jesus tries to explain that he is the bread of life and if you reccive him you will have everlasting life.now if they can't understand that the bread was sent from heaven they certainly wont understand that jesus can make them live forever.so what he is saying is that if you don't drink my blood and eat my flesh you not have everlasting life.i think what we can take out of this is that we need to be a little more trusting in god.for example we should all be trusting in god that it is not going to rain!!!!

well see you at church!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO why jessica why why would you do this WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY THATS NOT FAIR...

...... this is a hard saying but I guess it's pretty much saying that the jews in Capernaum were saying stuff like oh aren't you there son? and they were like yeah kinda but why does he say he's the son of God who has sent him to do his works and Jesus is like don't gossip women (haha) then the rest pretty much says how Jesus says yeah you have to eat me to get to heaven and they're like what but Jesus means the bread of life and like you have to accept him and everything then everyone is like......................... what?

WOW YOU WOULD NOT BELEVE HOW EXCITED I AM RIGHT NOW I THINK I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM HOLD ON...OK IM BACK SORRY I AM JUST SO EXCI...OK SORRY I HAD TO GO AGAIN.
Ok so on to the devos 48 I am the bread of life.
49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. This is cool because its saying how powerful Jesus is he says the bread fell to the people in the wilderness and they are dead but the this bread will let you live forever and that doesnt mean that you really will live forever it means that you will live with God forever so you really wont die because if your saved then the SECOND you close your eyes you are with jesus so thats what those AMAZING verses are talking about.
P.S.IM STILL SO EXCIT....

Im excited for you guys wish I was around. Well anyway so this goes back to where the fundamentals of our life should be and those are in christs teachings. Sometimes we might overcomplicate things or try to understand everything god is doing. But we have to trust he's doing what's best for us.
Sorry don't have much time this morning
Peace

Jon, seems like you have a bladder problem. Haha, (:

Ok, so these people sound like fools! Basically we need to consume ourselves with Jesus. Make sure that we are in His word and pray everyday! It's that simple, (:

Lee,
I work with Steve & Amanda at Trinity with the 10th grade class. Some of the girls brought up the online devotions idea and Steve referred us to this page. It's great to see the Lord working through you and in the lives of your youth group!

I think also that life = bread, and when Jesus says God gives you bread so that you may live, he gives you life. But in order for you to truly live with that life you need to consume the bread of God "Jesus". And it can be interpereted so many ways, bread of Jesus, his knowledge, Bread of Jesus, his bread that he gives you, if you accept it, is symbolic of you accepting Jesus in your life and your heart, because when you share a meal with someone you're sharing yourself with them.
God gives us bread, he gives us litterally food to eat, so we may live, and we shouldn't worry about it, because the birds don't worry about it, etc etc.

He gives us bread, through Jesus and through the Bible, and through other Christians.

I think depending on the context, this whole section can be taken so many ways. It's quite sad that people of that time had 'horse eyes' and I mean those little black plastic things on the sides that kept them only looking at one thing at a time. They miss the bigger picture, and the full essence of Jesus's gift, and life, and their daily bread.

Does it not say in the bible that we have two ears to listen but one mount to speak, so therefor we should listen twice as much as we speak? And does it not say that, wisdom is best taken when you let it in.

Good passage(s)!

and yea these people are kinda confused but to be honest with you i would be too lol if Jesus was saying that his flesh is the bread of life and then telling us that we have to eat the bread of life to have eternal life oh man i would be like wow this guy is crazy im not gonna eat his flesh
but im glad that we understand now that we dont have to literally eat flesh to live eternally

im so excited about this weekend =] its gonna be amazing

The jews were confused about Jesus because they know his father joseph and his mother mary so how can you come from heaven if you were born here? Jesus then goes to say that no man can get saved unless through me from the father which is GOD. Anyone who believs in him will have everlasting life in heaven. ok well pastor lee told me to get out of his office so i cant finish my devos. Ill finish later at myakka state park

TO EVERYBODY I would like to appoligize for what has happened last night. I look at myself as one of the people that is trying to be a leader in the youth group and a person that is following god, but my actions last night didn't show any of that. I was not having a good day and was really frustrated at life and people but that is no excuse for the way i have acted.

So everyone is confused about how jesus is the son of god when his parents are normal people that they know. Then jesus explains how he is the bread of life god has sent down to them through his 2 parents, and that the only way any of those fools will be going to heaven is through him. so pretty much don't question jesus and get saved NOW!!!

josh, hang in there dude, we all make mistakes, whatever they are. Trust that God is faithful enough to forgive you your sins . Learn from this episode that we are not strong enough to live a righteous life on our own , but we daily need Christ to help us. I am old dude and beleive it or not I still make mistakes. (not many though) Anyways Josh and all the young adults be of good cheer The creator of the universe is crazy about you and loves you more than we will ever understand..... and we love you guys too.

first of all, i would like to applaud josh on his brave asking for forgiveness... it takes alot of guts to do that publicly. i forgive you. =)

ok now to the devos.

ok... so basically what this whole passage focuses on is that jesus is the ONE and ONLY way to heaven... it dosent matter what you've done in life... none of that matters. the only thing that certifies your spot in heaven is believing on the lord jesus and asking his forgiveness for your sins.

have fun camping guys.... i wish i could come... but im going to St. Augustine. PEACE. :o

this starts out by saying that the Jews were upset at Jesus because He said that He was the bread of life and that He came down from heaven when he was born to mary who was on earth. then He goes on to say that the only way people can go to heaven is through Jesus. so right now the Jews are confused out of their minds and i would be to if some guy said all these things to me. then Jesus says that you must eat my flesh and drink my blood to go to have eternal life, and after that the Jews started to think that the only way to have eternal life is by eating Jesus (which kind of sounds insane). so we just need to believe in Jesus to go to heaven (it is that simple).

Jesus repeated several times that He is the "Bread of Life" and we need bread to live. "and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." Jesus gave His life on the cross, His broken flesh (bread) and spilled blood (drink), so that we may live and eating of the "Bread of Life" will give us everlasting life.

I almost forgot to do today's devos ahhhhhhhh DUMB!!! :)

.....Pretty much Jesus is telling these dudes that if you don't eat my "bread" the bread of life than your eternal life will not exist. In other words, if you want to live with Christ foeever than you must accept HIM into your life. Not only was Jesus telling them to accept HIM but also that they need to have a relationship eith HIM.

The rabbis (as they were called in those days) knew that Jesus had been born as a child just like everyone else. They knew that he had a mother and a father. So I guess it makes sense that they would have wondered. The same goes for Jesus' disciples. When they heard Jesus claim about how HE came "down from heaven" they were shocked. They knew that this couldn't possibly be true... at least not literally.:) They said: "This is a hard teaching. Who can understand it?...

Anyway, there has been only one Christ. There has been only one Spirit of God. And Chrsit is "the Way, the Truth and the Life". And He is "the same yesterday, today and forever".

haha i remember talking about this1 @camp...id b wonderin the same thing the deciples did...wantin me 2 EAT HIS FLESH & DRINK HIS BLOOD!?!?!?!

but we know Christ goes all shakespirian on us so since i LOOKED INTO it i understand that he's sayin consume urself of him...not of his flesh but of his spirir...

Christ said something about some ppl eatin manna
& are dead cuz they didn't "eat" THE BREAD OF LIFE...i said more at camp but im pooped=[

okay well this passage -for once- doesnt make me feel dumb (compared to those Jesus-eaters,) So thats exciting.
Anyway, when i thinking of eating, its a necessity and something we have to o to keep ourselves alive.
Whatever you decide to consume, has an affect on your body.
The same works for not-so-literal consuming and what youfill your life with otherwise. It can either be nourishing or hindering to your Christian life.
I always think to myself that my focus can be planted in two opposite places when i want it to be; not so much. It would be like mixing sugar and salt; gross.
So we should consume ourselves with one thing and the best thing, God.
