Well, so I hear that half the youth group is going to the movies today? I wish that I could crash the party and come along, but I am going to Orlando with pastor Chip for a "Pastors Meeting". It will be lots of fun, but I would rather come and spend time at the movies with you guys! That would be lots of fun... we need to plan to go again soon!

A Few Thoughts From The Weekend:

Jeff: Great job on the devos man... I am glad that you decided to finally "listen" in church.
McCue: We miss you too man! I am excited that your show is so incredible this year... I hope you guys win first at the National Championship thing!!!
Amy: well well well, good to see that you did not fall off the face of the earth! I know your in Arizona or something, but I was pretty sure they had internet over there!! :) WE CANNOT WAIT UNTIL YOU COME BACK HOME! (When is that by the way?)
Lucy: you are silly! URL is not someones name!! Earl is how you spell the name... URL is where you put the address for pictures... You just say the letters... U... R... L... :)
BETHANY: IT IS SO COOL TO SEE YOU ON HERE! Thanks for joining us! Stay on here all the time! It is lots of fun!! ( I really wish we could get you back in Youth Group... do you think that I could beg your mom?)

John 6:15-21
15 Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.
16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,
17 got into the boat, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was already dark, and Jesus had not come to them.
18 Then the sea arose because a great wind was blowing.
19 So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid.
20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
21 Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

This passage teaches us some things about Jesus Christ that are quite shocking. I think that they are very important and they teach us important things about how we can be more like Christ.
VERSE 15 is incredible... the first time I read it I assumed that Jesus was hiding from the people because they were coming to take Him "by force" to kill Him or something...
When I read it the second time I noticed that they were taking Him by force to make Him the King!!! How great is that! These people saw a few miracles and then they wanted Him to be king.

So why didn't Jesus just stay there, and become their king? Jesus had not come to earth to reign, He came to earth to be sacrificed for our sins. If you are like me, then you probably would think, Hey I will just go ahead and be king for a while and then do what I have to do later on...

Jesus was not about Himself, He was focused on us! How incredible, the son of God, who deserves all glory was not conerned with Himself but concerned with you and me.

If God is not selfish, and He has every right to be... then maybe we should stop being selfish!

VERSES 16-21 are great! I can really unerstand a little bit of what these guys were seing in the boat at night time. Remember I have gone out at Midnight two different times in the last 3 weeks. It is dark and it is scary!!

The disciples are in the middle of this storm, in the dark sea, being tossed around, when they see something coming towards them... is it a ghost? Is it a monster? AHHHH! oh wait... It is Jesus.
Jesus came to them, and when they received Him into the boat, they were immediately on track with where they were supposed to go next!

If our life seems to be getting tossed around, back and forth, and things are scary, and we dont know what to do... Dont focus on the scary things: Just ask Jesus to get involved! Pray about the situations you are facing! Let Him get you on your destination to a God glorifying life!!

Love you guys! Be Faithful this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YYYYEEEESSSSS!!!!!!FINALLY I'M FIRST!!!!!!!!!!

Okay like if this were me and I was on a boat at midnight...well for one I would not be on a boat at midnight but thats not the point!=]anyway and if i saw something come towards me I for one would think it was a monster or a ghost no matter WHAT they say! but i guess these people have a lot of faith in christ! So anyway and it is amazing how Jesus was so not focused on himself but on us!
(and pastor Lee i am making up yesterdays after this i just needed to be first!=]

het pastor lee it's jessica the girl who woke lucy up extra early so she could be first!!!! but thats ok!!!

now the first thing that came to mind when i read this is, a story my dad told me about how i used to think i could walk on water. and every time we went to my grandparents house i would go to there pool and attempt to walk on water. dont laugh i was like 4.

anyway, todays passage is talking about how jesus walked out on the water towards the deciples..... now hold on let me just say that if something was coming towards me while i was on a boat in the middle of the night i would pretty freaked out.... but these guys pull him in the boat!!!

oh and sorry im not going camping maybe some other time oh and i made up yesterdays!!!

Cool passage so I think ill preface byb saying we had another bible study last night and it was amazing we had around 15 people and we read more through colossians chapter 3 focusing on having a peaceful heart through rehearsal(which is incredibly hard sometimes as you might imagine because we get beat up quite a bit) anyway and we looked at forgiveness in quarrel a ton of applicable stuff it was amazing. Anyway so this passage shows most that when life has you thrown around like pastor lee said just focus in on jesus and draw strength from him. I think its really cool though that jesus denied being king because he had things to do we should also put god as number one on the priority list.
Peace peace

OK... i for one WOULD be on a boat at midnight(if i could...) but.... im not sure i would be so calm when i see something walking ON THE WATER COMING TOWARD OUR BOAT!! and i CERTAINLY wouldnt get out of the boat and attempt to walk on water!! i mean, COME ON!

but thats why paul is different he knew what it was... and he wasnt afraid, so he slowly got out of the boat... he had FAITH and as long as he kept his eyes on christ which shows that he always trusted him... but, he didnt and he went through under the water... but while he was nearly drowning! jesus helped him up...

thats cool... PEACE

this says that people were so amazed by what Jesus was doing (miracles) that they literally wanted to make Him king, but that wasn't Jesus plan so He ran away from them into the mountains and hid for a while. then the disciples went on a boat over the sea of capernaum and a huge storm came and the disciples saw what looked like a ghost and they started getting scared and then they realized it was Jesus walking on the water and they let Him on the boat and the storm stopped instantly. wow if that was me and i saw something walking on the water that looked lika a ghost and it was coming closer to me i probably would have messed my self. so really we need to have faith and believe that Jesus is with us at all times even in scary times.

what time do you guys get up sheesh im never going to be first! lol and i made up yesterdays P.Lee =] P.S. My birthdays in 11 days!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh =]

First i want to talk about the like very first sentence cause i like that part the best. It talks about how the Jewish people wanted to force Jesus to be king but he knew he was there for another purpose but i mean who would turn down being a king? I wouldnt! this just shows jesus's great love for us because if he had become a king they probly wouldnt have ended up crucifying him. Anywho then the passage talks of how Jesus walks on water and the disciples get all freaked out...(sometimes i think jesus did stuff like that just to freak them out cause it was probly hysterically funny). I dont really know what to write about that although im sure theres something important about it.

What I get from this passage is this... God always completes what He sets out to do. He told them(in a parallel passage)to go the other side.
In our S.S. class yesterday we studied that God had planned our salvation before He made the world. He knew us because He created us. God's plan is to conforms us(shape us) into the image of Christ. Our Father uses life's circumstances to shape our character. We may not see Him but He is always there, in control.
What if the disciples trusted 100 percent that they would make it to the other side alive? They would have enjoyed the thrill ride! Kind of like riding shiekra or montu at Busch Gardens. If you think the ride is going to fail , you will be terrified. If you trust completely that you will arrive at the other end, you will enjoy an awesome ride.
That is life. Will He bring us through like He said or not? Trust Him and hang on.
I'm glad also that we don't ride alone. See ya later, Carl

this passage is showing us that when ever we are havign a hard time all we need to do is focus on Jesus and hell help us get through it safe and help us make the best decision about stuff
its kind of like the verse that says nothing is impossible with God so all you need to do is trust him hmm isnt there a song that goes somethin like that ? Yeah the movies was fun we had alot of fun it was John, Gabbie, Josh, Rachel, and Jeff. We watched kung fu panda and It was really cool Josh laperriere got the part of playing the panda in the movie! The movie was really funny and I recomend it to anyone in the mood to wet their pants lol.

Wow this is a cool passage that just shows that Jesus is not only the messiah but a ninja or shall I saw a parkour ninja! Jesus trying to be forced by the people with being king just after seeing a few miracles left and went up to the mountians by himself to think. His disiples went out on there boat to probally go fish and to Capernaum. Jesus noticed them in thier boat when he arrived near the water. He decided that since he didnt have a boat that he would just walk on the water to meet them. Now to me thats a pretty ninja thing to do. Walk on water he is so cool. If he was one of my friends today he would definitley be in [PN]. His disiples became very afriad of Jesus and I would too see someone walk on water. He then told his friends not to be afriad. This passage tells me that Jesus is capable of anything even saving us and sending us to heaven.

Oh My Depravity that movie was so funny. My parents made me watch Zohan saying to spend time with them even though i said that it was a bad movie, in more ways than one. Anyways then i went out to get popcorn and saw jeff and he invited me to go see kung fu panda YAY!!!

Why on earth are they trying to force jesus to be their king when he should already be the king of their lives, and those disciples being all scared and such when they have jesus on their side pfft. This just proves that we neeed to focus more on him cause if the disciples were they wouldn't have been afraid, and the people wouldn't have to force jesus to flee to the mountains. If we just trust in him our lives would go a lot smoother!

This is a very cool passage that teaches us a very cool lesson. It first tells of these people wanting to make Jesus king. Now you would think that He would accept that I mean I would but He doesn't, He goes up into the mountains because tht wasn't what He was here to do. He was here to sacrifice Himself for us. He didn't even think about Himself at all. We should learn to be a little selfless like Christ. Next it tells us how the deciples went into a boat to cross the sea to get to Capernaum. Suddenly they see a figure walking straight at them. Of course as any human being would do they flipped out until they hear Jesus's voice. Then they let Him on board and they are intantly transported to their destination. The same thing happens in our lives when we are in trouble. All we need to do is accept Christ to help us and He will fix whats wrong.
Also I am watching some tutorials online on "Glowstringing" and I'll try to fill McCue's shoes

Thats a cool passage and i think that Jesus went to hide because he didnt want to be in a point of high power because then people would think maybe hes snobby or something and also Jesus didnt come toearth to be are king and control us he came to tell us that we need to be saved to go to heaven so he didnt want that to distract us and maybe think badly about Jesus idk what this passage was really saying but i tried my best.

Let's get right to it....JESUS WALKS ON WATER!!!! AHHHHHHH
That is SWEET!!!! :)
I guess that becasue of the iracle that Jesus had done, his popularity among th e people was so great that they wanted to make Him a ruler by force. But, Jesus refused and went to be alone up in the mountains.
I wonder though why the men were afraid even though they saw Jesus coming toward them. Didn't they know? Didn't have faith? O gosh I almost didn't get through that because all of us DO THE EXACT SAME THING! We KNOW that Jesus is always going to be faithful yet we still doubt! Why don't we have faith? Why don't we trust that Christ will lead us the right direction? Let's try to trust HIM!

This is a perfect example of how when God is not with us our lives get out of control, but when He is in our lives everything is peaceful and on the right track. There was a time in my life when I thought I would be fine without God. My life was out of control. Now that I let God back in, everything is going just fine. (: I'm glad that God is so loving, forgiving, and gives many chances.

This is pretty cool...i remember this story...partly...didn't paul walk over 2 Jesus on the water but then fell in a lil while later???

anyways yeah id freak if sumthin was comin towards me @midnight like that!!!but these guys had faith & when they focused on him their problems kinda just...went away...

which is what would happen 4 us if we focus on God...Its kind of a 2 way relationship we focus on HIM& he focuses on US=]

I love how he turned down being king cuz he was focused on what he had 2do...that's amazing...thats sumthin we as christians still have sum problems with(puttin other things 1st)

IM HERE! im sorry i wasa t ericas again, but of course im making it all up cause i dont want to miss anythinggg :]

well idk but im thinking wow when i read this. Jesus was offered to be king but refused that opprtunity in order to die for a bunch of undeserving people.
I doubt many of us would go for that, and would probabaly take up as king. If Jesus loves us that much, and is willing to die for us why are we not willing to dos omething so much easier; live for Him?
Im personally a bit selfish when it comes to giving up everything and living strictly for God, so i should apply this to fix that.

I'm coming back the 19th of June.

that would be the scariest thing ever! i would think it was a ghost, but whenever He said He was Jesus i would still be kinda scared because He's walking on water. thats awesome. we need to take Jesus seriously and not like a figure or just a person. We need to think of Him as a preacher, teacher, our God. He did so many miracles in His life on earth. and this was one of them

tricia said...

The people wanted to make Jesus king after the miracles they had witnessed, and because they were going to take Him by force, He fled. Jesus fled because He didn't come to be King, this wasn't God's will, but would reign when His Father's will was completed.

If I were on that ship, I would probably be running around in a panic making sure the boat wasn't going to sink and thinking that if it did sink to be ready to swim. Then while I'm running around, I see a figure in my peripheral vision, take a double-take, and then stare with my jaw wide open, trying to get someones attention. Th..the...there is a...a...man..w..w.w.walking on the water?!? Then Jesus says, "It is I; do not be afraid." Phew...big sigh of relief. Jesus came to save the day, get rid of our worries and cared enough to come and calm the sea for us.

Even the wind and the waves obey.
