Hey guys! We are still up here in Jacksonville! Last night we went to a calling live concert! They are so great! We hung out for an hour after everyone was gone just talking to them. It was so good to see them again!

Well, I hope that you guys remain faithful to your devotions! I am so thankful that we finished the book of Genesis! That means that we have gone through the books of Genesis, John, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and James. Today we will begin Romans.

Romans 1

1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God
2 which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures,
3 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,
4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.
5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,
6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;
7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Desire to Visit Rome
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,
10 making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you.
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established—
12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
13 Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.
14 I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise.
15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.
The Just Live by Faith

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,
25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.
27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,
30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;
32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them

Wow, I believe most of Romans will be simlar to todays chapter in that they are jam packed with many different truths!!!

Here is what stood out to me:
Verse 16: Paul made it very clear that He was not ashamed of the Gospel! But He was proud of it!! Am I proud of the Gospel? To the point that I am willing and excited to share it with everyone around me...

Then we see Gods wrath on Unrighteousness through verses 18-32... Wow! There is a lot of unrighteousness listed here...

Paul condemns everything from Homosexuality, to immorality, to pride, haters of God, and many other things... Did you catch what the last thing was??

Disobedient To Parents!!!!!! God puts that sin in the same category as murderers, haters of God, and homosexuality... maybe before we judge others, we need to make sure that we are not living in unrighteousness ourselves.... Maybe we really should obey our parents... it sounds like God means business!!!

Talk about a mouthful. Paul is NOT ashamed to spread the word of Jesus Christ because it is within him. I know that I struggle with talking about the word because I know that I am not a perfect Christian and sadly, as a human I will never be. Romans tells that God considers all sins unholy, showing that he will punish anywhere from those who are disobedient to their parents to murders. A verse that scares me is the one that says "Professing to be wise, they became fools." This happens to so many Christians as they attempt to live in the faith but do not do so believing that they can sin because they are saved. I just pray that I will live my life according to God's will and word so that I may feel comfortable going out and speaking to others about the glory of God.

paul, being the beast he is... decides to go their anyway and spread the gospel!!

i dont think i would have the faith to go into a wicked city like that and risk my life.

man but in this day and age.

there are towns like that everywere.

we need to start praying and doing more to reach the lost.

I absolutly LOVE verses 20 & 22. Verse 20 preety much says that you can't literally SEE God, you know he exists because of how all creation works perfectly. Verse 22 states that people may be wise, like the evolutionist or geologist, they were really morons for believing dumb things like our ancestors being monkeys.

I think God's wraths are wake up calls for us to get our lives back on track. When Paul was talking about all the bad thing I thought how he used to persecute Christians and now God used him to spread His word.

Wait Pastor Lee it says that matthew and Roman are tied in votes.

Paul is so faithful to god i wish i could be like that. I heard that if you talk about God or even Buda you can get a reffural that is so messed up. Wow Paul is so lucky to be an apostle even though he was kinda persecuted for it.

Well I hope you guys are having fun in Jacksonville!
I am really going to think twice before I disobey my parents again. I don't realize every time I sin how God thinks of all sins the same. And you are soo right Pastor Lee on how disobedience to parents is in the same category as murderers! That is what im going to try an think of next time I sin. Well there is alot of good stuff in this passage and I hope the rest of romans is like this! this is what stuck out to me the very most and I could go on but I need to start getting more sleep at night so i g2g. Bye and I will see yall 2moro in Sunday school!!!

the most important thing i think that was in this chapter was when paul said that he was not ashamed to preach the gospel, which is hard to do these days without someone thinking you are weird. nowadays if you are at school or with your friends you usually don't or don't want to talk about God because people might think you are wierd or they might not be your friend anymore, but if they aren't your friend anymore just for beliveing in God then they were never really your true friend. we shouldn't be ashamed to talk about God because how are people going to get to heaven if we don't talk about Him, and also we could make better friends that know God if we talk about Him. also we see all the sins that God hates and that we shouldn't get involved in. if we do those things or get involved in those things then we are only getting farther away from God when we should be trying to get closer to God and have a better relationship with Him. so we should be more like paul and not be ashamed to talk about God and not get involved in all that sin that God hates which is really hard though, but with God on our side we can conqueror all those sins.

So Erica is spending the night at my hosue tonight and coming to church tomorrow (:

Hmm, to me, i think that last verse is the thing that stands out most. Im thining that im interpreting it wrong, but its still teaching me something so its not so bad, right?

Even if we do not completely take part in all of these sins, (which i DO do, like disobey parents, and for some of us, other things) that if we simply approve of it, it is all the same.
Thats totally something i see as a morals basis.
Am i letting people know that im okay with some of the awful things theyre doing around me or saying?
The biggest thing for me is thinking more about the 'little' things i do & how no matter how petty i consider a sin to be, its a sin none the less and all forms of it are seen the same in Gods eyes.

see you all in sunday school (:
