Cary: Yes! Lets get together! Call me!
Josh Sandefur: Hey man! I am excited about reading your political analisist blog. And I am even more excited about you doing your devotions more faithfully! Keep up the goos work!
Jessica: We missed you! I am glad that it was weird not doing your devotions with us! :)
Phil: Tell Heather that we would LOVE to see her on here with us! What is she talking about?? I talk to her every time I walk by her! Tell her I am sorry I gave her that impression! And Tell Her I said EVERYONE is Welcome on the devo blog! Especially Her!

John 7:10-20
10 But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
11 Then the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, “Where is He?”
12 And there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. Some said, “He is good”; others said, “No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.”
13 However, no one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews.
14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”
16 Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.
19 Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?”
20 The people answered and said, “You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?”

So we continue on with what we read yesterday... we see that Jesus did go up to the feast, but He did not want to go publically. Jesus wanted to go in secret. When He got there He saw many people talking about Him some good and some bad, but in verse 13 it says that the people would not talk about Jesus in front of the Jews.

I think that we often do the same thing. We fail to talk about Jesus to the people that need to Hear it the most. We have lost neighbors, lost friends, lost teachers, lost acquaintences, lost co-workers... and Just as these people did not talk about Jesus in front of the Jews, we do not talk about Jesus in front of the lost people in our life!

Verse 14 explains that Jesus left the feast and went to the temple to teach... This part is so cool. When Jesus begins to teach, the Jews begin to ask: Where did this man learn so much? If this were modern day, they would probably say What are his credentials?? Where did He graduate college from? The truth is Jesus did not need to go to "college" Because He is the Son of God. He is Omniscient (all-knowing)

Verse 18 is one that is very applicable to many of us, I am sure! Who do I live to build up...
This verse makes it clear that If I am speaking about myself all the time, then I am trying to build myself up. I am trying to glorify myself, instead of Christ.

I remember seeing this commercial all about worship yourself songs. They take the normal worship songs and change the lyrics to make them sound how we often live. It is funny, but true in many ways, and it also helps you realize how often we try to build ourself up, instead of building Christ up!

What did you get out of the passage today?

Alrighty umm well first of all in verse 11 we see the jews seeking jesus. We should already know where to look for god which is by looking in his word. and then another verse that hits me is verse 18. Are we all trying to make ourselves look good or are we lifting god up and showing others his love and compasion.

Oh sorry PL for not doing my devos lately I'll go back and do them. I haven't been on the internet lately and totally forgot about them.

rise & shine sleepy heads! i woke up & 1 1/2 earlier2do my devos & i JUST woke up...u can do it*yawn*

I think Christ went up there in secret like a whole 007 thing so he could see if the diciples would fend 4 him & try 2 spread the word even though they wanted 2kill CHrist...

i think we have a problem w/that 2...just as they wouldt talk infront of the Jews, we won't infront of friends & other ppl...we dont have 2 worry much bout out friends killin us like the diciples may've w/the Jews...so we've got even lesser of an exuse...

As4stickin up4 him...i do that ALLthe time w/Bambi's boyfriend & these kids in my bio class...they ask all these questions & since i pay attention in class i've got a smart educated answer...i got 1who never believed in God 2 change his mind & consider salvation...the other 2...i try...

Then the building ourselves up as it says in verse18...remember a few weeks back when the passages were sayin we need 2 make ourselves smaller & christ bigger???i think that applies 2 verse18....

i watched the video & it's NUTS...but what's sad is its TRUE...ppl really DO think of themselves like that

Application:Make myself smaller & do things 4 the glory of Christ, NOT myself...

this relates to the campout i think when you know devo time like how judas was a demon umong the disciples. that we all look out for ourselves i think that we should look out for others.so they set something up and well he saw who the demon was

I just watched "Dragon: The Bruce Lee story" it was really good.

Anyway, Jesus goes up to this feast and everyone is talking behind His back. Later on Jesus begins to teach and everyone says how do you know these things if you have never been taught them. Jesus told them that anyone who will's to do God's will will know because God will speak through them.(Wow lots of Will)He also says that we must teach the word for the sake of others and not of ourselves.

MY BIRTHDAY IS IN 2 DAYSSSS!!!

i like the part in the passage where jesus leaves the party to go teach and everyone is like blown away because hes never been to school or whatever they had back then lol...if that isnt proof jesus is the son of god then i have no idea what is cause theres no way he would have known everything that the pepople who studied it did. I also like the part about seeking gods glory not glory for yourself and i like that part when god says that makes you righteous in his eyes.

Everything that comes out of our mouth should be for the glory of God.

We need to speak of Him often to the people who need it.

Jesus basically told them that He knew the doctine because it was of God and still they thought He was crazy.

I get my LICENSE in 2 dayssss!!!! Happy early birthday Gaby :)

ha ha ha That IS a funny video!!!!

Glorify ourselves or the ONE who created us? Which do you choose? I have friends that are unbelievers! I need to step up to the plate and do my job! When the Jews were asking about where did "Jesus go to college?" I think Jesus meant in His response that if these people are TRUE followers of Christ than they will know if His doctrine come from the lies of men or from God.
Lets try to step up to the plate ourselves and do our part!!!

cya ya'll tomorrow!!!

Signing out....
Jess is the best

Ok amazing passage it makes me ponder among my self ha ha ha i sound SMART!
Any ways these people are talking smack about Jesus and the diciplese are sitting there not standing up for him because the Jews are there and they are that the Jews will kill them and thats my first problem if you truly honestly beleve something then you are gonna stand up for it like if someone said something bad about Miley Cyrus i would lay the law down and kick there b-u-t-t and they would pay for what they said and i think that if u really beleve then u would defend.

hey guys havnt been on in a whle. i think it is very true how we dont speak of Jesus topeople that dont know him. its like we have a fear of embarasing our selves. i think we all need to talk about him no matter what because the people you try to hide him from are the people that need him to get to heaven. i also believe in how on verses 15-17 when God made Jesus all knowing i also thnk that God has a plan for everyone and that God will make you good at whatever he wants you to do. Jesus's purpose was to teach people about God and die on the cross for our sins. so if Jesus was meant to spread the word then he had to know how to write.

k ill see you all tommorow.

hmmm i was on earlier but didnt have an good stuff to type out but i do now so :]
Ok, well verse thirteen is what i most can relate with here.
When our fearing for what we consider our own best gets in the way of our duties to the Lord.
He has always placed us before Him; even in the value of His life! So why is it so hard for us to put something as petty as a repuation on line for His glory?
I dont know, lol, but i can definitely work on that one.
The only reputation we should be concerned about is our reputation in serving God, and i forget that way too often.
Who are you trying to impress? The One who matters or the oness that dont?
ps; ryan will be/already (has) posting/posted for today

Ok, as I was watching that video I was thinking that that guy sounds ridiculous, but often times that is what we sound like. We build up ourselves instead of God. We should work on making God look bigger. Also we need to work on talking about Jesus to people who need to hear it. In Mark it says Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Not just a select few, but everyone!

this starts out by saying that Jesus went to the feast but in secret so the people wouldn't know who He is. during the feast the people were talking about Jesus and some comments were bad and some were good. during the middle of the feast Jesus left and went to the temple. as Jesus was talking to the Jews in the temple they were like how does He know so much and He said i get my info from God the Father, the one who sent me here. Jesus also goes on to say that the people who seek from themselves will fail because you can't do anything withoug God and you need Him in your life to guide you. it is so true though we try to please ourselves and we try to do things by ourselves but we will get nowhere in life and we will get no closer to God in our relationship. we need to have God in our lives to be a successful Christian.
