A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Brooke: I love the fact that you were able to read the comments that other people put on here about the messages and that you were able to make a personal application for both the Sunday School lesson and the Morning Service message. I am glad that everyone else listened and posted their thoughts so it could speak to you as well! Great Job!
Josh S: I am glad you listened so well to the sunday school lesson... sorry for poking your eye out! :)
Phil: I love outback as well... and I always get the outback special (12 oz. beccause for like a dollar more you get 25% bigger steak: good for leftovers) with garlic mashed potatoes... mm mmm delicious! Katie offered to take me there, but I said naa. Your comment made me wish that I accepted her offer!
Tyler: Where were you last night man? and What are your plans for this week? I want to get together with you guys some time... let me know!
Jeff: I liked your "Happy Fathers Day God"; He is the best father of all! :)

John 7:1-9
1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
2 Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
3 His brothers therefore said to Him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing.
4 For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.”
5 For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
6 Then Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.
8 You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come.”
9 When He had said these things to them, He remained in Galilee.

This is a neat passage: It begins with Jesus walking through the city of Galilee. The reason why He was in Galilee was because He did not want to go to Judea, because He knew the jewish authorities would seek to kill Him. His brothers make a comment to Him in verses 3 and 4 that show their unbelief in who Christ really was.
Jesus' brothers make a sarcastic comment to Him, basically saying that NO ONE does anything is secret when he seeks to be known openly. In other words, they think that they need to give God advice on how to run his program.
Sometimes I do the same thing... Gods word is clear on how I am supposed to live, but I try to justify why I should do it my way instead of Gods way. How foolish!
Jesus knew that His brothers did not believe in Him, so therefore He just explained to them that it was not His time to come, but they could go ahead.

Once again, Christ shows kindness in the face of skepticism, and sarcasm. That is a love that I cannot understand! I am so thankful for that unconditional love that Christ shows!

The application here is that I dont need to try to convince God why He should do what I want Him to do. I need to trust Him and trust that He is the All-knowing God! If He is all knowing and all loving then I know that I can just trust him! In every aspect of life! I will trust Him by obeying what He says about sin, purity, love, faithfulness, holiness and everything else! Trust His Word!

Basicly Jesus is not going to Judea because He knows that the people will kill Him and His time hasn't come yet. All of a sudden His brothers step up and try to run the show and tell Christ what to do. Telling Him that you can't do somethiing in secret when you want to be known by all. Sometimes we tend to do that as well. We tell God how you think it should be when He already has a master plan.

Woot second good job Joshy poo! why r you up so early dude um and what r you doing today you should call me and we should hangout ............ ok104Iloveyou2bye! Pastor lee I went to outback yesterday and got the grilled chicken sandwich and it wasn't that good and it cost $9 what a rip off.

OK just as Josh said that if Jesus went into Judea he would die so thats why he didn't go he knew if he went that he would get killed and it wasn't his time. Then Jesus's bros was telling him what to do like Jesus didn't know. Jesus is omniscience so of course he knows what to do! Jesus stayed loving in a time of fighting which is cool because people that can keep their cool no matter what are very wise.

I think its absolutly amazing how Christ kept a level head during a time of confict...It DOES take a wise man 2 keep his cool durin sumthin like that! I think we can all agree that's sumthin we need2 work on(keepin a level head/keepin ur cool)Even through the confict he still shows love & i agree w/pastor lee, that's a love i cant understand either...

the verse that stuck out to me most was:

7] The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.

It makes me think about how it seems like every1's AGAINST Christianity/Christians & when i try 2 think of WHY they do, this verse says it!

They're not against us PERSONALLY, more cuz Christ points out their works/doings is wrong & evil...& they don't like that cuz they're so acustomed/& r infactuated w/their evil doings that they don't wanna b told 2 stop cuz they're doings r evil...even though most of the time they KNOW...they just don't wanna b told...if that makes sense

Which then leads me2y every1 wanted 2 kill Christ...They were tired of him cuz he's making known their works r evil & as i said...THEY DONT LIKE THAT!

at 1st i thought Christ was SCARED2go but then when i read the verse that his time has not yet fully come, & i understood!

That had me thinkin about the diciples tryin2tell him what 2do cuz they think he doesn't know...but when Christ said that, it shows he MUST know everything(past/present/future) cuz he knows his purpose hasn't been fufilled...

cuz had he gone w/them he woulda been killed&it wouldn't b in the way we know 2day(the last meal cross/death/resurection, etc)he wouldn't have been hung on the croos & he couldn't have died 4 our sins & we couldnt accept the plan of salvation cuz our sins were never paid4...ya know???

so this passage shows Christ KNOWS what he's doin & there is in NO way u can justify y UR way is better than his...he is the architect...he holds the masterplan/blueprints 2 our lives...if we choose 2 stray from those blueprints...we're gonna be an unsafe house & fall 2 our own demise cuz he knows what's gonna make us strong & how 2 keep us safe...we've just gotta believe in him & that he knows what he's doin w/our lives & in the end...what he does is BEST=]

if that wouldve happened to me... i would have not been able to keep a good head... but jesus has that ability... we need to stop freaking out on such little things.... btw, pastor lee... were not doing anything this week.. wana hang out?

the passage starts with jesus walking thorough Galilee and then he tells his brothers about how it is not really his time to go. he also says how the world hates him because he is good and not evil and that men are lovers of evil.

App: i like how pastor lee said that sometimes we try and justify what we're doing but we need to realize that its gods way or the highway =] I also though about how easy it is to do the wrong thing instead of the right thing. Thats why jesus was the only perfect person cause its like impossible to always be good. Jesus isnt telling us that we HAVE ro be goo to be like him but we should strive to be like that.

I had to read this passage several times to fully digest it. What really jumped out to me was right in the beginning of the passage. It says that the Jews were seeking to kill Jesus. That is really outrageous to me, but what really struck me is how Jesus responds. Think about it- if I were perfect and I came to bring salvation to the world and the world wanted to kill me! Whoa- He could have just commanded all those that hated him to be die. He didn't though- He continued to minister and love the people despite all the evil done to Him. I know sometimes I think that I deserve to be treated a certain way, but that was not Christ's attitude at all. What a great lesson we can learn from watching how Christ responds to the trials He faces.

Well around verse 7 is where my attention seems to be focused where it talk about the world hating Jesus. It makes me realize how oppositely set the world is from where it should be.
Most all of us can attest; we do not like correction, but do like control. Jesus is/was at the wrong end both of those things. He has complete control and His ways prove ours to be wrong.
I think just as much as that slips my mind, it slipped the brothers.
When you think about it, there is no excuse for any sin when we have two crystal clear, perfect examples to regard by. (Jesus as the example of how TO be and the world an example of exactly what NOT to be)
You can a lot of the times know what is right if the world is in hate of it and whats wrong if the world is in love with it.

this is saying that Jesus was walking through Galilee because people wanted Him dead in Judea, so He stayed away from that area. also the people who were with Him said that no one does something secretly (like hiding from the people in Judea) when they want to be known. after that Jesus said it is not my time to go yet but you guys can go if you want to. after that the two guys left and Jesus stayed in Galilee and the only reason they said that stuff to Jesus was because they didn't believe He was the Son of God. God knows everything and He has a plan for everybody and everything so if we can just listen to Jesus He will always lead us in the right direction.

Ok so Jesus went into the Gallilee because if he went into Judea he probably would be killed and it just wasnt the time for Jesus just think about it if he had went into Judea he might have been killed and our sins wouldnt have been for given and we would be sitting here thinking well life is pointless because were going to hell so who cares but good thing he died and came back to life.

I missed like 3 days of devos cause I as in O Town!!! It was weird not doing them but here I am once again :).….

Jesus had decided he was not going to go up and put himself in a position where his life was going to be threatened. Since he knew they were plotting against him, he stayed away. His brothers wanted Him to go though I think that doubted Christ a little bit here :(
I think this shows us that God's timing isn't always our timing! Jesus also tells us that the world cannot hate us but they hate Him because Christ has testified to the world its evil. But what is amazing is that Christ still even then had a love for the world even though they hated HIM. I find that to be TRUE LOVE more love than my parents can show or even my future Prince Charming ;) We need to learn to serve Christ always and be ready on HIS time and HIS purpose and for HIS will!

Time for bed....

sorry i'm so late today... so how's everyone doing? did I mention I almost got Heather to do these but she said she doesn't know if anyone would like it because you "stopped talking to her" or w/e and I said it's because she just left youth group but yeah w/e it doesn't really matter but right now she's washing up and I really do wanna get to todays devos soon it's been kind of unbearable all day what with having to stay in the house BUUUUUT I did watch season four of Friends which brightened up my day I think we should all get together someday and watch all ten seasons of friends from start to finish it would be cool (we might have to exclude some episodes due to distasteful material) haha so yeah that'd be cool lol mrs. chanandler bong that was a great episode... good times... gooooood times

It feels good to start a new chapter of John so Jesus decided not to walk in judea because the jews wanted to kill him and their feast of tabernacles was taking place so his brothers said go to judea so you'r disciples can see what you are doing because no one keeps what they do a secret if they want people to know even his bros didn't believe in him his time hasn't come yet though and the world can't hate them but it hate's Him because he says it's baaaaaaaaaaad to the bone but then he said you goes go and enjoy the feast and i'll stay here because my time has not yet come and he stayed in galilee

so, I think today's a good day and tomorrow will be too... also... as well... have a mardi gras because I sure will

This passage is basically self explainitory. Jesus didn't want to go to Judea because people wanted to kill Him there and it wasn't His time to die yet. His brothers were like if you want everyone to know who you are then you have to go to them. Jesus explained that it wasn't His time. So His brothers went to Judea and He didn't. One thing that I could get out of that is that His brothers were trying to tell Jesus what to do and how to do things. Sometimes we think that we run the show, but we need to remember that God does.

what God's will for us is may not always make sense and may seem weird or crazy, but everything God has for us to do is for our benefit and we have to listen to Him. Not try to do it our way, which will always end in failure.
