Ooooh I feel special, I'm posting my first passage :P
Alright so yay I just got baptized today =] I'll just continue from where Michael was yesterday.

1 John 4

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Okayyyy so. The first verse reminds me a lot of John 3:16. "For he so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Well that makes sense because it's from the same book...but regardless...moving on..
God loves us THAT MUCH that he would send his only son to DIE for us, that's pretty amazing. As we all know, parents love their children and would do anything, even die for them, to protect them. Now how many of those parents do you think would sacrifice their own child for people in the future that they don't even know, to save them? Not very many. That's how amazing God is, that He would do that for us.
Verse 20 is talking about a hypocrite, basically. Still, I'm sure we've all made this mistake. You hate your siblings or whoever else it may be, yet you love God...that's not what the Bible says. You are supposed to love ALL your enemies and family and neighbors, and worship God. That is part of the deal of worshipping the Lord; you have to love EVERYone.

Nice Job on the Devos Emily!!! so glad we got baptized today!!:D
I really like this chapter because it talks about love:) and how we should love one another. I remember when I first read this chapter that verse 19 stood out the most to me "We love him, because he first loved us." If you think on it for a while it's like, "wow, that's powerful stuff there!" GOD wanted to help US (the sinners) out because he had that much love for us!! And because of forgiveness was blessed upon us. The best love that you will ever find in the world. I remember when I asked Pastor Lee when husbands and wives go to Heaven if they would still have love for one another like they do here on earth and he said that he would imagine that our hearts will fill with that love that we long for: God's love for us!
Verse 11 also states a VERY important aspect also, to show love for others, your family, friends, neighbors..etc, every one we meet even if we do not know them! I ESPECIALLY love verse 12, "No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us." Meaning when we show love, God will be right there by us, guiding the way. Verse 20 is telling us when we come upon someone who says that thy love God and they hate another person, how can they love The Lord if they don't show it to others around them? Even if someone embarassed you for the rest of your life, love them because they need it and it shows. I've learned to not hate enemies but to pray for them instead that they would one day know God's Word and what Jesus Christ has done for us ALL. I couldn't picture a life without people showing that they didn't care-that's why this passage has so much meaning, It teaches us how to become faithful about love.
I love 'Love'. Can I hear an Amen?

GReat Job Emily! I am thankful that you and Victoria came last night! I am not sure if you can, but if you are able you should definitely come next Sunday night and you should definitely come to my house afterwards for our church fellowship! It will be a lot of fun! I am glad you posted the devotions yesterday! You did a great job!!!

Amen! Victoria!! :) I love love too :) If it were not for love then I would have a horrible eternity, but because Christ loved us, and gave himself for us, we can be in Hevaen for eternity with Him! Great Job Ladies!!!

Emily and Victoria, congratulations on your baptisims! You two are definetly on the right path to serving the Lord! And yes, Victoria, you canpost devos too if you want, I don't mind a bit!

This passage is telling us the importance of loving, not only God, but everyone. Sometimes its hard to love someone in your life if all they do is hate you and mock you, but hey, think about how Christ felt. We defied Him and yet He still loved us, so if God can do it, so can we, especially since Genisis 1 tells us we are made in His image.

So Victoria, this is how you post a devo. On the home page, you should see at the top, it says "sign in" Click it, and then type in suncoastbaptist@gmail.com for the username, then type in sb123456 for the password. after you click sign in, then click on "new post" in the dashboard area, the put the date like this: FRIDAY, May 15th, 2009 Capitalize the day of the week, then the month, with the first letter capitalized (duh, correct grammar) then have the date itself with the "1st" or "2nd" and so on.

Then make a new tab, and go to biblegateway.com and search for the chapter in KJV or any version and copy and paste the chapter. Then just fool around with all the icons at the top with colors and bolding. Don't worry about correctly spacing the verses.
