1 John 4

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.


Verse 1 is coming true as we speak. You know, you've definetly seen it on tv, internet, and in school. If you're wondering what a false prophet is, it's anyone that preaches the doctrine of the Antichrist. For example, some Politician said one day that you don't need a personal relationship with God. That politician is a False Prophet. And like we said the other day, a antichrist is someone who denies Christ, and doesn't believe you need Him. An antichrist denies Jesus Christ, and a false prophet teaches any doctrine opposite of the bible. So, an antichrist can be a false prophet too, and visa versa.

Verse 4 is pretty awesome too. "... you have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." That is reffering to God and Satan directly, saying God is greater than Satan, so we have overcome him because God is in us!

So cool!

You hear alot of this from teachers now-a-days when they are trying to teach students evolution. They are false prophets if they deny that God created us. That is the things that bothers me about public schools, they're forced to teach their students that...So this passage tells us that we can overcome them. I really like verses 6-8 It says that we are of God's children and we should love one another and help spread his word! A friend and I this past week were talking to one of our other friends who isn't in God's word all of the time and we were talling her how important it is to stick to it and to forget about the false joys-if you stick with God's word and are a follower of Christ, then you'll find that everlasting joy! :)
