Emily, that was a super long comment! Your awesome! you should try to post these devos someday, just to feel how its like. You want to?

14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

This is a continuation of yesterday's chapter. Verse 23 is the one that caught my attention on this one.

There are two great commandments that it wants us to know. Believe in Jesus, you know, the whole shibag, and to love one another.

Now, what does love really mean? love means: affectionate concern for the well-being of others. If you are concerened about someone else's problems, or hurts or feeling, then you love them. Also, you could love them by putting them before yourself, since everyone knows we love ourselves.

Now the question is, do you care about other people's problems and are willing to put them before yourself? if so, you love them. I have always wondered what really is love, but now I know. Hey, its awesome to learn new interesting things everyday!

So, do you love others?

-Michael

So Emily, this is how you post a devo. On the home page, you should see at the top, it says "sign in" Click it, and then type in suncoastbaptist@gmail.com for the username, then type in sb123456 for the password. after you click sign in, then click on "new post" in the dashboaed area, the put the date like this: FRIDAY, May 15th, 2009 Capitalize the day of the week, then the month, with the first letter capitalized (duh, correct grammar) then have the date itself with the "1st" or "2nd" and so on.

Then make a new tab, and go to biblegateway.com and search for the chapter in KJV or any version and copy and paste the chapter. Then just fool around with all the icons at the top with colors and bolding. Don't worry about correctly spacing the verses.

The first verse in this passage is incredible!! It says this is how we know that we are alive in Christ: Because we love each other!! We do not naturally love others! We naturally love OURSELVES!! So it becomes very obvious when we start loving others before ourself that something MAJOR has happened in our life!! I am so thankful that God loved me and that his love is so contagious!!

This is indeed an Awesome passage! My friend and I were talking about this the other day: loving one another. It is important for us to be there for our friends because we would want the same thing, to have someone help us out through tough situations. I really like all of these verses alot but the one that really pops out is verse 18, "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth."
and verse 19,"And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him."
because it is saying how important love can be by our actions and if we reallt mean it. I love to be there for my friends and family because I know how important some of their situations can be:)
