Hey everyone! If you were not is Sunday School this morning then we missed you. We looked at I Peter 2:2-9

I will post them here and you go ahead and share your thoughts... remember, this morning we spent a good amount of time talking about verse 9. WE ARE A CHOSEN GENERATION!! God Chose to save us and to use us... we need to choose to obey Him and Live for Him!

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Wouldn't every generation be chosen? What if someone a 100 years ago saw this in the bible? 1000 years ago? 1500? It doesn't seem like EVERY GENERATION would be chosen, so why would that verse say the same for every generation ever since it was written?

when it says that we are a chosen generation we should act like we are a chosen generation and be an example for God and not the world. we need to be more like God if we are going to be the chosen generation because the chosen generation wouldn't follow the worlds ways and get all caught up in that sin. so we need to be better examples for God.

I am royally tired so more than anything I want to speak with God and I read this passage yesterday but We see here Peter talking about our chosen generation and also the cornerstone that is Jesus Christ teachings. We are to build up our spiritual temple for him and when we obey we will not be confused at all of he jargon this life has to offer. When we disobey we will stumble. We are a chosen nation because we were given the chance to be children of God and the light of this world by Christ's blood and not by a bloodline or tradition. I think Peter is using the term generation to refer to all that become God's children.
