I Peter 2:11-25

11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

i think this is a good lesson on the example that God gave us w/ suffering. he gave us an example on the cross w/ his suffering that even sometimes when we are doing right and following in Gods word, we might have to suffer. God didn't doing anything wrong, but suffered anyways.

this passage tells us about the bennefits of suffering with labour and stuff.... sounds weird, hard work and labour is good for us. it teaches us to be the servant instead of the person being served.. like christ. we can apply this to our lives by trying to do something that is normally hard for someone else that you have an ability to do.

This passage says we should stay away from earlthy lusts. I think that the hardest sin to get over for us men. We can't get over it on our own, we need God's help. Christ save us, and by His Grace, we didn't, AND CAN'T save ourselves, in eternal salvation or in running away from earthly lusts. I always remind myself of What God would say if I started lusting in school, or anywhere else for that matter.

ohhhh Ok so I didnt even finish the passage before I realized that Peter goes right into it. He says that fleshly lusts WAR AGAINST THE SOUL. There are certain sins that are worst for your soul, they can destroy
us from the inside out. Particularly sexual immorality of any kind that involves something as small as looking at a girl/guy the wrong way. This may be hard for guys but master your lusts don't let them be the master of you. 17 is my favorite verse at the time and I just memorized it after reading it. Amazing verse, simple but very powerful. 1 Peter 2:17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the King. Obama is a prime example of someone we HAVE to honor right now although he is not king we must try to respect his decisions. Except the ones that directly go against God's will that is, which seem to be a couple of them up and coming. Verse 22 and 23 makes me think about Pastor's message this past Sunday. How amazing is a Son of God that he came to Earth and did not sin, not even any deceit or any guile or hint of wrong came from him. Even so he committed himself to be judged.
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart. Where?!
