Fay is on the Way!

I know that our town has not had a good history with Hurricanes, but is anybody excited about this storm? I mean if it were a catagory 2 or more, there is definitely reason to be concerned, but I must say: It is so exciting to have such a change in routine, and it is so nice to see the world stop for a few days while everyone comes together to help each other through the storm. And for those of you going back to school today or tomorrow... there is a great chance that you will already get a day out of school!!!

Have a great first day of School!!

One Important Note:
Don't forget, yesterday in Sunday School, I announced that if a devotion is done late (as in a day or more) then you will only get half the credit for it in regards to the reward trip. So a late day will count as .5; it will take to late days to equal 1 regular day. The reason for this is simply that it does not seem completely fair to reward someone who makes up all of the devotions a week late, or every three or four days. Thanks! Stay faithful!

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Rachel: I loved the way that you applied yesterdays Sunday School lesson to the devotion!!
Michael: I think they knew they were naked, there was just nothing wierd or wrong about it. That is what sin does, it takes something that is innocent and makes in shameful!
Gaby: That was funny "Platypus" Ha!
Amy and Tricia: We missed you both yesterday!
Kacey: I think it is funny that you said "God knocked Adam out"
Marvin: Wow! So are you calling women animals?
Kervin: I like your: "Tree of Stupidity"
Mallory: I LOVE your enthusiasm!!!!! I am so glad you are on here faithfully!!!
Josh L: I love your idea about visiting the Garden of Eden... we should go on a trip there next year! :)

Genesis 3

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?"
2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
3 but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'"
4 But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.
5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.
7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9 But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, "Where are you?"
10 And he said, "I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself."
11 He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?"
12 The man said, "The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate."
13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this that you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
14 The LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."
16 To the woman he said, "I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you."
17 And to Adam he said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, 'You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
20 The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.

22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—"
23 therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.
24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

Wow! There is so much information in this passage! I cannot believe that we are going to cover the entire chapter in one day!!! Bear with me! This is good, take a few minutes and absorb it!

Verses 1-6 explain how the Serpent (Satan), tempted and deceived Eve and Adam. First Satan Questioned what God said. That is the same way the satan works today... Satan knows that if He can get us to question God and His word, then we have lost the sight of the truth.

How do we question God? We question God whenever we think that something happens in our life that is "Horrible". The truth is: God's word tells us that "all things work together for Good to them that love God"... so the question is... will believe God? or will we believe the lies of the devil?

Every sin that we commit is because we fail to believe the truth of Gods word... for example: If we listen to Sinful music, it is because we do not believe in God's Holiness... (seperation from sin) if we are involves in immoral physical contact, it is because we don't believe what God says about purity! Satan wants to deceive us about the truth of Gods word... that is why it is SO IMPORTANT TO READ GOD'S WORD DAILY!!

Next we see the consequences of their sin! What do they do? They run from the presence of God... Like I have never seen that before!! It is unbelieveable how teenagers (and everyone for that matter) run from the truth whenever they are straying from God. I know whenever I was rebelling from God, I could not stand my youth pastor... Now I, the youth pastor, have teenagers that cannot stand me sometimes, because they know that I want them to live Godly. It is ironic. When we are running from God, we also run from anything that reminds us of Him... like our church, our devotions, our pastors, etc...

Adam does not take ownership of His sin, but instead, He blames his sin on Eve and on God... Do you take ownership of your mistakes??

I think verse 14 is so interesting: A snake use to have legs, but whenever Satan used it to deceive Adam and Eve, God cursed it, and said that the snake would travel on its belly for the rest of time... That is why snakes "slither around" instead of just walking.

Verse 15 gives the first prophecy of Christs crucifixion... here is what it says: Christ will "bruise" the head of Satan, and Satan will "bruise" the Heal of Christ... I like to think of it like this... Remember the movie: "The passion of Christ": While Christ is in the Garden a snake comes by Him and He stomps on its head... Christ is victorious over Satan!!!!!!!!!!!!

More Consequences of sin are next: Women will suffer in child birth, because of their sin, and men will have to work, and sweat, and suffer just to bring home food for their family.

And finally another horrible consequence: Adam and Eve are kicked out of the garden of Eden. Could you imagine going from the perfect garden into the world??? That would be SO SCARY!!!! I know that Adam and Eve lived the rest of their life regretting that decision in the garden. The consequences of Sin are deadly!!!!!

Stay away from Sin!!!

So this passage here is pretty much the beginning of sin, and im reminded that it was satan who tempted Eve to sin and its satan who still tempts us today.
The big deed was done when Adam & Eve sinned, but today we often do worse things than eating a fruit, and go against Gods other important commands.
Like Eve, i still sin with Satans help and in this passage is the evidence of cosequence for it.
So its pretty simple, i need to resist sin is to resist the consequences.

I am kinda exited too, Pastor Lee, about the storm. Most likely no school tomorrow so that is cool.

We see here that Satan is using his decietfullness on Adam and Eve just like he does to us now. Everybody in this situation has some blame on them (except God). It was Satan's fauld it all started to lead to man's fall, but it was also Adam and Eve's fault for listening to Satan.

Yay, hopefully no school tomorrow. :) I'm not ready for summer to be over!

I think its weird...If Adam and Eve did not eat the fruit, they woulnt have realized they were naked...and we would probably would be naked still today, because it would feel wrong to us.

Also, i appreciate the child bearing. =/ FUNNNN.

but, i know i need to work on my sin. because i kept on reading what you wrote when you said "all things work together for Good to them that love God"...

and I need to get that through my head! =)

:D We don't have school tomorrow! I'm so excited! My dad, my grandpa, and I are going to the beach during the hurricane if it's not to strong. It's so cool to be out there and see the power of God. And a hurricane is only a glimpse of how powerful God is. Wow, He is awesome!

Wow, imagine if Adam and Eve never sinned. We would hae a pretty cool life. Never having to work hard to get food and other things we need to surrvive. I never knew that God made child birth so painful to punish Eve.

We shouldn't blame other people for our sins like Adam and Eve did. We should own up to it. Because when it's judgement day, you have no one to blame it on but yourself because God knows everything.

I swear there are two things I am loving so much right now. My mother being asian, and thus having family she doesn't see on a daily basis in asia. As for the second thing the common day ability of teens to easily grasp new concepts and technology such as computers and cameras.

If it weren't for those two things I wouldn't have been able to make a slideshow of all my mom's family back in the philipines, add a beatuiful and nostalgic philipino song to set slideshow, and using set slideshow to distract my mom long enough to forget her blind fury at me long enough to get out of doing my chores long enough to do my devotions.

So if we do on this trip to find the garden of eden will we get to see the angel and his way cool swrod? so eve told adam to eat of the tree and he ate. Now they are both cursed to pain, sweat, and back breaking labor. they got clothes and the serpant got to be on his belly for the rest of his life and he was to eat dust.

Lessons of the day (fake)

1 men are not to listen to women lest you get into trouble.

2 women are to listen to men no matter what it be we tell you, god says so in the bible.

3 if a talking animal comes up to you and tells you to do something, don't do it because the only reason why its talking is because your propably high on something and its not gonna be telling you to donate 1 million dollars to charity.

The real lessons of the day

1 Obey gods word lest you be cursed to a hard life.

2 even though us men are to be over women a man and wife are a team. If your leader, man, goes astray his helper, women, should be there to help him and guide him back. A man and wife are a team that is supposed to be working together not man is the dictator what he says goes period no matter what it might be.

3 do not give in to satans temptations for he only seeks to deystroy you. Remember that one verse pastor lee taught us "be sober and vigilant for your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion seking whom he may devour." Sorry if i don't know the passage.

This passage still refers to all of us today because satan will still always temp us to do wrong. Even though God is more powerful. I like the fact that God made satan in the form of the snake to slither instead of wald up-right. We need to all keep into consideration that if we do wrong God always knows and he will punish us for our sins, but forgive us at the same time.So it really stinks for girls to have to go through all that childbirth pain.God punished Eve for eating the fruit. He also punished Adam he will sweat and have to work and do alot of hard labor. We all learn our lesson about sin and pay the consequences.

Dude! its not good that were getting out of school because were going to have to make it up anyways but Im also glad cause I think Im going to flip 2moro! Or do sumthing fun.....but idk.

I read this pasage at the wilds when I had sum time but it just said to me that the devil will lie "and lie to you to try and think God is trying to keep all the power for himself to make you sin. Carl preached on this sunday.....he said that if you leave a spot open and away from God then the devil will move into your heart and make a spot for himself and work from the inside out or a so called "inside job." But once you let God in the place the devil will pack up and leave as soon as God enters your heart. In the garden of eden the devil tricked the woman to eat the from the tree and as soon as she did she died or seperated from God and made herself unpure! God being pure could not be with them anymore. Adam also ate from it and the same happened to him. we do not sin because we choose to we sin because its our sin nature or the "law of sin." Since we disobeyed God he punish us by making child bearing painful and made the men work for the food we eat in the fields. It we would have just trust God and listened to him our lives would be so easy he would give everything to us. Since we are sinners in nature the only thing we can do is ask God for his help to guide us to make good descision.

Satan is such a desiever. he tempts us to do things we know we shouldnt he uses excusses like its ok and God will never know. This is the point in our history when the first person sinned against God. Eve ate of the tree of which she was comanded not to eat from. We all can leearn so much from this passage. We can all not listen to Satans temptations and obey god and keep his cammands.

YEAH NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!!!!
The story of the beginning of sin... lol but this is the beginning of sin. when Adam and Eve were in the garden and satan says that the only reason God doesn't want them to eat off the tree is because there eyes will open. so Eve eats it a give some to her husband and he eats it a they realize there naked and God finds out and kicks them out of the Garden.
Wow Satan has some powerful ways, and i need to reject him in my life messing with my head

i forgot to do my devos yesterday!!!(GASP) i thought i did them. I will do them after today's.

I would have been so ashamed and embarrest before God to be in that situation. Sometimes we r like Adam and Eve they blame they're sins on other things, like Adam blamed his wife and Eve blamed the serpent. We should obey God and keep His commandments and always have a good Christian example towards others.

No school tomorrow yahh!!!!!
Happy Anniversary Pastor Lee and Katie!!!!!!!

Basically, man failed to obey God; therefore they had to suffer the consequences. All I have to say is way to go Eve, now if I decide in the future, wayyyyyy future to have kids, I'm gonna have to get an epidural! DUMB EVE! Anyway, Satan's mission was to lead Adam and Eve to do the wrong thing, and he succeeded. Temptations. I think that is the key word in today's verses. It is something everyone struggles with, but I believe us teenagers even more because of the environment we are surrounded with. Sin brought sorrow into the world. God gave the earth to us to be a comfortable place of pleasure; but it is now cursed because of man's sin.

Application: Learn to defend yourself from Satan and all of his temptations. Look for to God for help and strength.

Happy Anniversary Pastor Lee And Katie!!!!!!!

Ok so this shows that in way you could can be a really good person beacuse Eve was good but she was still decived and any of us can i mean we are every day and often we try to hide from God and the worst thing is when you have to answer to God so really we need to look out because satan can tempt us even over a piece of fruit and when i read this passage i think its dumb that they sinded over something dumb but I would do the same excat thing.
So glad that there is no school tomarrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well there is no school tomorrow...unlike most of you I am actually anxious to go back to school and now that we get it off tomorrow we will prob. have to make it up thanksgiving week :( O well more summer time though!!!

anyways, this passage has so much to learn from and about!
The main point to most of us is that we see Satan has deceived Eve and she ate from the tree God told her not to and Adam was with her and she gave some to him also and he ate too. This is where sin had started and just like today we still do sin and we need to try our best to think about everything we do so that we can decide if its what God wants us to do or what Satan wants us to do. Looks like we learn from this that all sins that we make have consequences and we will have to face them because of Eve and Adam.

Well I'm really tired so i will see you all maybe Wed. Good luck with FAY everybody! And by the way I just wanted to let everyone know that I am 13! everyone has been saying lately how they thought I was 15 or 16 and I don't care you can think that if you want but just letting you know the truth! LOL!!! bye for now!

Like you said during one service I forgot which, but you said the significance of a sin is getting less and less. Oh yeah the one about the territory thing. It shows how God punished Adam & Eve for eating for when they were told not to. I can take a guess that I do do what I'm not supposed to 3 or 4 times a week, but I don't get punished as God did because disobeying in time has gotten less and less sinful compared to other sins.

School was pretty long today I saw a couple people Ryan, Josh, Bethany and somebody else, but of course they didn't see me.

I've heard the excuse, "The devil made me do it." And it's our yielding to temptation and our giving in that causes us to sin. Satan is very persuasive and we have to be strong to turn him down when he bothers us.

Adam and Eve walked with God in the garden and they had all this food and they were perfect, but God allowed Satan to tempt Eve and Eve gave in. How stupid! You are walking with God one day and you betray Him the next when a serpent tells you that you can be like God. I guess knowing Him, The One who created you, isn't enough. And then Adam eats too, knowing full well that it is wrong and he shouldn't, but he gave in and now we live with the consequences of their mistakes everyday.

***IMPORTANT PASSTOR LEE...its kinda hard 4 me 2 b able 2 do my devotions cuz my mom's been working from home the past week & will continue 4 a while & she uses the comp ALL day...so by the time she actually gets off it's 2 late 4 me 2 get on...im only on now cuz she cant do much 2day cuza the "hurricane"...BBBBUUUUTTTTT...im still tryin 2 do em when i can cuz i REALLY wanna go***

i never knew snakes used 2 have legs & when satan cursed it they lost em...hmmm...learn somethin new everyday=]

this just goes 2 show there are consequences 2 all our actions & that what we do NOW will affect OTHERS LATER!

man now rules over woman, man must work their fingers 2 the bone 2 bring home food, woman go thru pain of labor

its crazy!all cuz they didnt believe in what god had said & allowed satan 2 controll their minds & actions!

question...i thought Adam didn't know that the fruit he was eatin was from the tree til she told him AFTER he ate it...so y'd he get in trouble if he didnt know til AFTER?o well...

so yeah...basically. listen 2 christ & not of satan cuz if ur on satans side ur SURELY gonna lose cuz christ will stomp all over satan=]

this starts out by God telling adam and eve not to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden. then a snake comes to eve and tells her that it is alright for her to eat of the tree and that the only reason that God dosen't want them to eat of it is because they will know the difference of sin and truth and they will be wise. so eve eats it and gives it to adam and he eats it and right after they both eat it they find out that they are both naked and are ashamed. so they make clothes out of the leaves off the trees. then God comes and asks where adam and eve are (even though He already new were they were). then they come out of hiding in the bushes and God punishes them and makes womens punishment a painful child birth and men have to sweat and pain over their work to feed his family. then God sends them out of the garden and puts an angel out to guard it so they can't go back in (wow that stinks). so because of their sin the were cast out of the garden and had to live on their own and pain over it. sin makes us do crazy things that we usually wouldn't do and when we get caught we get punished for it. also when we sin we try to hide it and run away from it and that means running away from God. so when we sin we should own up to it and not run away from it and we should try not to sin even though it is really hard, but we can do all things through Christ.
