Have a great day at school! And remember you are just hours away from THE WEEKEND!!!!!

This morning it was raining really hard at my house, in fact... The rain this morning was worse than the hurricane on Tuesday. That is Ironic! Well, I hope you did not have to swim to school.

Stay faithful on these devos!! There are some of you that miss too many days here and there and that will end up holding you back from our rewards trip!! Stay faithful everyday!!

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Jessica Massey: Sweet Nibblets?? Cool! :)
BETHANY F: I am so glad that you are on here again!!!!
Kacey: God always seems to bring about the right passage at the right time!!
Kervin: Was fourth falls the hardest thing that you have ever done? What are some of your goals??
Jonathan Massey: I want you to help me with something. We are going to do something really amazing at Trunk or Treat and I want you to help me brainstorm!
Alex: I must agree with you, that is not what I would expect Rachel to be talking about in the devotions. It took me by suprise!

Genesis 8

1 Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.
2 The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.
3 And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.
4 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.
5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.
6 So it came to pass, at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.
7 Then he sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters had dried up from the earth.
8 He also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground.
9 But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself.
10 And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark.
11 Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth.
12 So he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore.
13 And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.
14 And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.
15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying,
16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.
17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”
18 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.
19 Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark.

20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
22 “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”

There were many different lessons in this passage but the one, most influential lesson to me is the one found in verse 20. It explains that after Noah got on dry land he took all of the "clean" animals (the ones in groups of seven) and sacrificed them.

I dont know about you, but I read this, and I think to myself: WHY IN THE WORLD!!! would they carry these animals on the ark for A YEAR!!! just to sacrifice them as soon as they got off the ark?!?!?!

In my small mind that does not make sense. But to God that is crucial!!!!! God wanted to make sure that the new beginning of civilization put Giod first in their life. This sacrifice proved to God that not only was Noah obedient, but He was willing to work hard for NOTHING other than glorifying God!!!

Noah sacrificed these animals and it shows that nothing comes before God in his heart.

What do you have in your life, that you need to give up?? Maybe you have been babying this "animal" for years!! Maybe this animal is special to you? Maybe YOU LOVE IT!! The question is: Is it more important that God in your life?? God requires a sacrifice for success in our life! Maybe it is time that you sacrifice some things for Gods glory!

Is He first in your life? Obey Him and Show Him by sacrificing any idols in your life!

So a couple things i haven't noticed before. Well firstly Noah sends out a raven before a dove I'm not sure what the relevance is but Pastor Lee could elaborate :) He also sends out the dove something like 3 times to make sure that the waters of the Earth have receded and the Dove brings him an olive branch of all things our symbol for peace. Well that's funny so our country is still founded on principles of the bible yet some people in America would have you believe that It's not and furthermore would go to great heights to make sure that we don't hold on to the principles(not just little things like an olive branch probably more like marriage, abortion things we struggle with today)that are taught in the bible.
Now I'm pretty sure that the reason we use the Olive branch is because of this right here. Pastor Lee can say I'm wrong i hope :). Finally I think the last verse is important in detail because all these Global warming fear mongers need to read it. Not only does God say he won't curse the ground for man's sake. He tells us that winter and spring and COLD and HEAT will not stop while the Earth remains. Of course in this day and age It's easier to try and explain everything and say you KNOW everything than put your trust in an Omniscient ruler who tells us what's up. But wait there's a logical fallacy here people think It's more logical to trust 35 unknown scientists and professors from I-did-all-this-stuff-real-well University who tell them theories about things they can't possibly fully understand or put trust in the Guy up top who made everything?
Just sayin......
Sorry I went on a tangent......
I would also like to talk about what God says about our hearts in the last verse He mentions that man is evil from their youth. It's in our nature to have evil in our hearts but we also have righteousness of God in our hearts but depends on which beast we let take rule in us. Let God's righteousness take control, let that Lion in your heart overpower the snake.

Wait did we lose some animals since there were only two of each kind on the ark and noah burnt some of them as an offering to god? So pretty much the waters receeded and noah is free as one of the last 9-13 people left on earth, that are alive. I wonder if there was a bunch of dead corpses everywhere.

Lesson of the day

1 obey god or be a drowned corpse

2 be of good practices so that god may find favor in you and bless you like he did noah

3 It was A LEAF not a branch that the dove brought back

So when the dove returned to Noah that means it found no place to rest and when it didn't come back that means it found a place to rest right? Kervin woke me up because he was so loud.

If I were Noah I probably would thank the Lord for getting us through the flood right after I got out. Noah is so faithful building an altar and sacrificing something right after you were in a flood that killed everything. I wish I could be as faithful as him but what did his sons and their wives do?

I think the major lesson that I learned from this passage is just to obey God- even if it seems silly. I don't know about you, but when God told Noah to release the bird, I definitely would have questioned it. Noah didn't though. We see what transpired from it. Also, after Noah got out of the ark we know that God had Noah make an altar unto Him. If I had been trapped in a boat for that long, I would not have wanted to take time to build an ark. I would have been ready to get things moving, but they obeyed God!

I think this passage defintley applies to me cause we should always sacrifice ourselves to working for whats right. God reminds us what we need to do to please him. I kinda wish we still had dinosaurs on Earth because that would be so cool. But after the flood I wonder how many animals were gone that maybe no one even knows about!hmm

Thats so cool that God made the ark rest on the 7th day of the 7th month, and u know what is kinda weird about that whenever God was creating the world and stuff, He rested on the 7th day!! WOW after being on a long boat for like 40 days and 40 nights i would be sooo excited to come off that stinky ship! Noah was very excited probably so he went out and sacrificed the clean animals that where on the boat, Noah knew that God was with Him through out this whole entire situation, God is with me through every situation too.

Noah shows who is first in his life the minute he gets off the ark. Right away he builds an altar and sacrifices the animals.(and pastor Lee, I was wondering if one of those animals were an elephant? cuz that would be realy hard to do.)Noah didn't go build a house or a lavatory first he worshiped God! I think we need that kind of devotion to Him.

hello everyone!!!!!

what speaks to me about todays chapter is how noah obeyed God.i would like to be more like noah in this way because sometimes i find it hard to obey God through everything because sometimes i think that i am right and nothing else matters.so ya that is what stuck out to me!!!

well i will try and get on tomorrow but i am babysitting from like 7:30am to whenever.

So after the storm, it says God still remembered Noah and his family and he cleared the water on the earth, and Noah sent out Dove to see if it was dry.then Noah build in Altar and sacrificed animals to God. I would write more but i have to go SORRY!!!

YAYYYYYYY!!! still here and totally excited...i love doing devos they make me soooooooo happy evan when i feel terrible.but this passage made me realize in verse 20 when it said only the clean animals it made me think of how we dont always or maybe its just me who doesnt always put god first and give him the best in everything we do.noah is such an inspiration because he had a good life and still put god first in everything he did.i have a feeling that is why he had such a good life because he was always with god.but kind of like i said yesterday i need to be a better more faithful christian.devos and praying arent enough,i need to live for god all the way or nothing at all.but as we all know its easier said that done.i have been trying to make changes like in the music i listen to and the poeple i hang out with and even listening to people .i used to just let people curse in front of me and not say anything even hough i have never been much of a curser but now when i hear people say things like that i ask them"was that nessescary?" and that lets people know im not comfortable with the way they talk and usually they stop (at least when they are around me.) but that is what i got from it...there is alot more but im late for sleep.

BIGGG BREAKING NEWS...i officially made the north port hig volleyball team today!!!=)...yess i am very happy and i have a game tomorrow @ 9:45(that is why im going to bed early.but other wise that is all that is new.see you guys sunday!

What came up to me was when that dove never came back, how did the other one find it to make more of their kind?

Rachel☺; said...

ok so i was being serious about the cat poop but note that i said important things also!
Also, sorry for being so late today. When i got home from school i passed out sleeping for 2 & 1/2 or so hours and right after that had to go to a 4H assembly.
Anyways,
Noah is pretty laid back from what ive read so far.
He kinda, shall i say, goes with Gods flow.
Another thing i notice about Noah is how amazingly patient and open to understanding Gods plans.
Just this morning i noticed how gross the weather was and just before i put on my shoes, went outside to see just how grody it would be on my bustop walk.
It wasnt raining but you could tell we had previously had quite a bit.
So i put on my shoes and picked up my bags and literally the second i open the door it starts POURING.
There wasnt a square inch of me that didnt get wet walking to the bus stop,, -.-
And the umbrella was totally on vacation or something cause it didnt work for me today!
I was pretty annoyed.
And then i thought about it...
Noah.
He had a huge flood going on for numerous days and didnt even see dry land for like, ever!
Now that i think about it, i shouldve thought wayy differently!
God is sending the rain and instead of getting annoyed about it, i should be happy for it no matter how much i dislike it.
Well, maybe thats not the best way to put it,, but my point is that i should be more open to what God is doing, and realize that sometimes the best for me isnt necessarily something i will enjoy.
I honestly am really bad at that and often hate an unfavorable situation rather than accept it.
Thats something bigggg i can work on.

Once again, this is very much needed for me. I've been debating whether this show I like is honoring to God or not. Actually I know it isn't, but my flesh is trying to convince me otherwise. I need to get rid of all the 'un-needed animals' in my life! It's going to be hard because I really like the show, but I know with God's help I can do it!

What amazes me the most is the patience that Noah had with God, as far as not kowing what the will of God was but was trustng him all along. It is easy to trust God when life is going greatttt, but when it isn't then it becomes more and more difficult. But if we contiue to trust HIM the outcome can be more than we would have ever imagined! Like Pastor Lee mentioned, is HE first in my life??
We could make a list 1. 2. 3. of our top priorities in life and most of us would probly put 1. God 2. Family 3. Friends or sports, but God should not even be on the list. He is higher than number 1, He IS the list....at least I want HIM to be the list in my life!!!

it is cool how god made it rain for exactly 150 days and not like a random number. it is hard to imagine how high the water level must have been if it took 7 months to dry up. wait i dont understand what the raven did he never came back. it must have been lonely for Noah and his family but it would be better than living in a world of sin. it is so true how we need to give up some of the sins were holding on to.

It must have been really exciting to see the water going down and start preparing to get off the ark. The anticipation must have been killing them!

The very first thing Noah did was make a sacrifice to God! We need to check our lives and remember that our lives are Gods and check what we allow ourselves to watch, listen to, and do. It reminds me of the pet-sin Christian Life Seminar at the Wilds.

this starts out that the rain started to slow down and then it stopped. so noah sent out a raven to see if there was any living plants or any dry land yet but the raven didn't come back. so then noah sent out a dove and when it came back it had nothing so the land wasn't dry yet and there were no plants. then a week later he sent it out again and this time it came back with leaves in its mouth. so the last time he sent out the dove it didn't come back so there must have been plants and dry land. so 600 days later (which is kind of weird because it was dry on the 600th day and noah was 600 years old) the land was dry and noah opened the door of the ark and all the animals went out to live on the land. so as soon as noah went on the land he made on offering to God and took one of every clean animal and sacraficed them to God. so noah was very humble and didn't take all the credit for himself but gave it all to God. then God promised not to flood the earth again. so we need to be more like noah and be more humble and not take the credit for ourselves but instead give it to God.
