I am so excited about camp!! Two weeks from today we will be driving up there! How exciting is that? I am so ready to be there!! Teenagers, I want to challenge you with somsething today: God did greater things in my life at camp than I saw Him do anywhere else because my heart was open and I expected God to do something great! I hope that you will begin to view camp the same way, Make sure that your heart is open! Also make sure that you expect God to do something Great! Pray, Pray, Pray!! Ask God to do Great Things in your life during your week of camp! Trust Me! If you are willing... HE IS WILLING!!

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Kacey: We missed you in church yesterday! I hope you guys have a fun vacation in Orlando! What are you going to be doing while you are there? Did Jill go with you guys?
Jessica M: Wow... Preach my message last night before I even get to! you said: "Not enough time spent with God in His word?"
Cary: You are funny! I thought your comment to Amy was Hilarious!
Kervin: I hope I did not frustrate you yesterday. I hope you have decided to come to the wilds! The book I am reading is called "Do Hard Things". I think this would be something "hard" for you to do that would make you a much better person, increase your comfort zone, and help you for years to come! Think about it!
Josh L: I don't understand why you would say impolite things about your parents, especially when they just allowed you to get back on the computer?!?! BE NICE! and good Job on the "Sherlock Asian".
ALEX: I am glad that you have committed to stay in the word "consistently", and I really like your word supakoo. Did you make that up? I am glad that you came bowling last night!
Mallory: Where are you going to in Tennessee? I hope you have fun! I hope that you can still do your devotions!
Jeff: I am excited about learning the rest of the back flip!
Tricia: Are you "AICIRT" ?? Great job on your devotions! I am excited about you getting involved! Tell me very soon if you can go to the wilds with us!
Bethany: Thanks for your compliment! I would love to sing with you sometime! By the way... let me know as soon as you find out about the wilds!!!!

John 16:1-15
1 “These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.
3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.
4 But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.“And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5 “But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’
6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

This passage is a little longer than what I normally choose, but It all fits together and will make more sense if you read the whole passage. There are several exciting facts mentioned by Christ in this passage.

First, we see in verse one, that Christ is sharing all of this information with the disciples so that they will not "stumble". If God knew that these sayings would keep the disciples from falling, then I believe that they will keep us from falling as well...

Next in verses 2-4, Jesus is finishing His thoughts about the world Hating Christians. Jesus explains that not only will the world Hate Christians, but they will think that they are doing GOOD whenever they kill Christians. Wow! That is scary! But that is happening today around the world. There are places today where Christians are being killed for their beliefs. I am so thankful that we can have the freedom to open our Bible and read it, and to go to church, an to pray in public... and so much more!

Verse 7 is my favorite verse in this passage. Here is why! Jesus is sitting there with the Disciples and He tells them, I am about to leave you guys, and they get very sad... But then Jesus explains that it is to their advantage that He leaves them, because then the "comforter" or the Holy Spirit will come! Jesus tells them that it is better to have the Holy Spirit in their life than to have Jesus Christ right there with them. That is pretty incredible! We have so many advantages in our Christian life today! We have Gods word, As I spoke about last night, and we have the Holy spirit which is better than having Jesus here with us, because the Hol spirit can dwell in each of us, and minister and comfort and convict and guide each of us, where as if Jesus were here with us, then there would be a line 500 miles long just to see him and get a picture!

Thank you Lord for your Holy Spirit in my life! God has given us so many advantages to live for him! So LET'S DO IT!!!!

So I actually have a little time to respond in a blog this morning awesome. Anyway so this passage kind of opens my eyes to a couple of cool things. One is that it is better to have the holy spirit in you than jesus next to you. That's really cool when you think about it because as soon as we get saved and accept christ the holy spirit dwells in us. So we can use this to our advantage. See if the holy spirit doesn't dwell in us it means we're of the flesh and make worldly decisions so if we are in the flesh and jesus is next to us he'd have to tell us what to do and ultimately itd be our decision. But utilizing the holy spirit means god's will and our own will starts to allign. We don't need someone there to tell us what to do but the holy spirit in us shows us the way so we won't stumble. Now I would like to know though pastor lee who jesus refers to when he begins to talk about somone coming after his death maybe you could clarify. Anyway miss you all ill call sometime soon pastor lee

Its like if u trust in God u will not stumble."comforter" or the Holy Spirit will come.- just like on Wed. night that Jesus had to leave so that the holy spirit could come and be the comforter of our lives. Pastor Lee I am so excited because I am definetly coming with u guys to the WILDS!!! I just got the money but i cant give it to u until the 30th. I hope that is okay. what i got out of this passaeg is that hte disciples of jesus are sad because jesus just informed him that this woulds be the last time they had to spend togetherbut he tells them that they should not be sad because he would still be there with them in spirit.jesus said that having jesus' holy spirit in their liveswould be better for them because they would not stumble.when god walked the earth with moses and adam and eve he was there with them so he would not stumble but when he was there in spirit he would be with all christins all the time and al we have to do is speak with him in prayer.pastor lee is right we take advantage of the fact that we have the freedom to believe what we want and instead of just excpecting it we should be praying to god more often than no to have a greater connection with god.

jesus told the disciples that this is a chance for you to go out and do what you have seen and heard me do. and jesus said that this would be kind of an advantage. and like mccue said, it is soo cool to know that whenever we accept christ into our lives, he automatically comes and is going to dwell with us 4ever! HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?

good thought mccue.

hey mccue, btw, when r u comin home?

PEACE.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us to be our Helper and Comforter. The Holy Spirit helps us in our understanding of the Word, convicting and guiding us into all truth!

"you are willing to be wrapt up in devotion, it is your will that your soul should not wander from a pure contemplation of the Lord Jesus Christ, but you find that you cannot do that, even when you are willing, without the help of the Spirit." -Spurgeon

Without the Holy Spirit we are blind, and cannot begin to understand everything God has for us until we surrender to His will for our lives and by the power of the Holy Spirit, obey.

Oh and Pastor Lee, what do you think about putting another blog or something under Suncoast youth and making it a prayer list that people can add their prayer requests to so we can pray for each other throughout the week??

PL, I am also soooooo excited about camp. I can hardly wait !!!

vs. 2b: "yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service."

When I read this verse, the first thing that came to my mind was: 1. muslin-extremists and, 2. the apostle Paul - b4 he was saved.
1. How many people in the world today hate Christians because they are being deceived by Satan, who's making them believe that they serve The true god, and every body who says otherwise is worthy of death?
2. I heard this scenario recently (I don't remember if it was in church or on the radio)it went something like this: "in the dark of the night, they gathered to pray in a shack. They thought they were safe. However they had no idea that just outside the doors was standing the great persecutor of the church. As the guards broke through the doors of the shack with furor, there was great chaos: woman and children screamed in fear. As the guards and believers became quiet, the only noise heard was of the toddler still crying and clinging to his mother. Then, he gave the order to take them all. As they left, a woman looked at him. He expected to see hate in her eyes. Instead he saw eyes of mercy, and forgiveness."
This is what the apostle Paul did to Christians b4 he was saved. He persecuted them. He thought he was doing God a favor.
We need to keep in mind that those who persecute us, are loved by God just was much as you and me. It's amazing how Paul went from one end of the spectrum to the other: persecutor and persecuted. What amazing things God can do with our lives.
I guess the moral of the story is : next time you are persecuted (maybe teased at school for standing up for Christ, or discouraged because nobody in your house shares the same believe as you do,...) remember what God did in Paul's life, and pray for your enemies (not that the people in your house are your enemies, but you know what I mean). Maybe the same person that is making fun of you today will be preaching the gospel to some remote tribe in Africa 10 years from now, just because you prayed that God would reach them some day. How awesome would that be?

This passage talks about how Jesus sent us the Comforter to us after He ascended to heaven. I was thinking about this, and I realized how thankful I am for the Holy Spirit! What would life be like to not have His gentle conviction or the peace He gives in those really tough situations. Also, it is the Holy Spirit that gives us what we need to say when we are sharing the Gospel with others. He has so many important jobs, I can't imagine the Christian life without Him. So often, He is kind of ignored- but He is God. WOW What an awesome blessing!

Well, the passage opens up my eyes to see the truth about how when we get saved and accept the Jesus into our hearts the Holy Spirit comes in and dwells in us. Hope to get to see you soon Lee...

my goodnessss.

and i left ryan a voicemail.. havent actually gotten to talk to him in three or four days sooo,
yeh.

Anyways, what i picked up was in the beginning in verse two where it says that people will think killing Christians is good.
Thats sounds really scary and i bet it really is where it is happening nowdays.
I read in a brio magazine a while back about a girl who was walking to school (i forget what country) with her friends. Her and her friends were just talking about Jesus and the two friends got slaughtered right then and there! The girl survived but she got her neck and face all cut up.
Its crazy to think that anyone could ever view that as "good", but then i just realize how important a real and strong undersatnding of Jesus and His plans are.
For those who do not have a strong and i-know-for-myself-its-true relationship with God, other things may lead them to distorted beliefs of God and His instruction, which can totally mess up your faith.
i should be reading the bible for myself like on here and keeping a relationship with the Lord that i know for myself is all truth because just thinking about it i see its more important than ive evr thought.

im sorry if thats not what this passage was supposed to be about but that juat what i was thinking.,

Cary I think you are killing pastor Lee! he probably gets on the blog and says" OOHHH MY WORD 49COMMENTS!!!" And see's that it was was you posting 26 throught the day!
and let me say that i had a great time last night it was a lot of fun! and for the people who don't get on here a lot, should cause it's defiantly worth it!!!
and Pastor Lee the new suncoast youth website is cool!
So in the first verse Jesus is telling all of his disiples what to do so they don't stumble. and he says that people will do bad things because they don't know him.and then later in the passage it says that he has so much more to tell us but we can't take it now.

Tylermon33 said...

this starts out by Jesus saying that He says everything He says so that we don't stumble (in our spirityal life...i think). then He goes on to say that if you follow Me then the people will throw you (the disciples) out of the synagog and kill you because they think they are doing it for God...WOW i wander what God they worship because it shure isn't the peace loving one. then He goes on to say that He told them these thing now because if He told them earlier they would have forgot. then He says that it is our advantage for Jesus to go away and for the helper (the Holy Spirit) to come to the world and convict the world of their sin, righteousness and judgment. and pastor lee i was just wandering if the Holy Spirit wasn't with them at the time until Jesus left earth, did they feel convicted about doing wrong like we feel convicted today. ok back to the devos. then He says that He has more to say but He can't say them now and He says that when the Holy Spirit comes He will guide us into the truth. finally He says that the Holy Spirit will glorify Him and that He will take all things and declare them to us...WOW thats pretty cool that Jesus would give everything He has to us. so we need to be thankful for everything Jesus has done for us like giving everything He has to offer to us and for sending the Holy Spirit down to earth for us. also we shouldn't care what the world thinks about us, we should care about what Jesus thinks about us.

and pastor lee i did my devos. for saturday and sunday...sorry i didn't do them, i usually do them around late afternoon or at night so when something comes up i am not able to do them.

Sorry Pastor Lee my mom said were going on vacation next month and my time is coming to an end for a final descion for camp she told me like just now I could still go if I want.

I think when Jesus told the disciples that He time was nearly up they eir hearts sank, but when He told them He'd be there in spirit I think they became a little more comfortable with the situation. For us God is always with us in spirit everywhere we go no matter whats going on. My mom is always telling I'll never be able to hide anything because even if she's not there God is watching and if I didn't know that I think I would have gotten into a lot more trouble then I have now.

Josh ,your a silly goose amigos.
Just because I have chores, doesn’t mean I get paid for them, thus the reason I have a JOB.
Second, its funny how you think you have me figured out, when in fact you don’t. Now who’s laughing. Cary who do you think I am? If you all work it out together you’ll have me. You can ask questions and I wont lie, but I may answer just your question with no other free info. I’m trying to stay on top of this game, but you people are pretty smart, oh so close but nada…….

For the devos….
WOW, I never thought that it would be better with out Jesus here in person. It totally makes sense how clueless the disciples seem to me now. I’m sure that we would all be just like that with out the Holy Ghost in our lives. That why the world is so daa about our faith. I always wanted to walk with Jesus, To talk to him and ask him questions. That would still be cool, but now that’s it in a different light. This was definitely food for thought scripture for me. What pastor Lee said about our freedom is so true, we have it so easy. Who cares if someone at school picks on us a little bit , or if people look at us funny. Those people have not the Holy Ghost , just like the people that kill Christians for a good work. They don’t understand.
Have a grate night.

PS pastor Lee,
Where are you in this cat and mouse game, you were right on my tail.

Well i think that if i was being hated by everyone just 4 being a chri5tian i would try to be like the world just to blend in but not too much. if have to admit that but i am working to stand for Jesus.

Soo I'm sitting here doing my devotions and as I look over my shoulder I can see the BEAUTIFUL waters of the Gulf...gorgeous! :)

Let's begin; we are continuing to see how the world is going to persecute Christians for their faith. Christ talks about how he is going to leave soon, but it is okay because the Helper will come to them. The Helper is the Holy Spirit. And if we are believers, than the Holy Spirit will convict us, show us mercy, and help along the way. It might make you think, what's up that> But we have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. But Christ has sent His son to satisfy that judgment.

Peace outtt

Verse 13 stuck out the most to me. Sometimes when i feel i'm doing something Christ doesn't want me to do, i hear my name and get feelings that i should not be doing that. it's great to know that Jesus is working in my heart! See u tommorow Pastor Lee!!Cant wait till camp either!!!

Ok so im having a ball and its the first day and right now im looking at the beach but the only thing wrong is that Jessicas here jk but in case your wondering where we are where in a condo in fort myers well take a look for yourself http://www.pointeestero.com/
Ok so what scares me is that when they talk people killing chritians because they think its right reminds me about how when the twin towers went down the people flying the plane think because of there religion hypnotizes them to think its right thats why they did and i think its sick and thats why im thankful that i have my relanship with Jesus because if i didnt have it i might have been stuck in something like that and im glad im not.
P.S.I went to this pet store today and they had monkeys there and i want one SOOOOOOOOOO BAD that would be so cool to have a monkey i would name it Scary hairy for a boy And Miley for a girl.
Peace out girl scout

Man I don't know how you guys do it, remembering to do my devos is so hard without me going on the internet everyday and without it being my homepage.

I don't think that the comment about my parents was impolite just unwise and immature.

BOWLING RULES!!!!!!!

McCue is gonna be on ESPN in about a week.

If I had a pony I would name it doggy.

My favorite fruit is the strawberry.

So after all that silly nonsense its time for Dadadada Josh's devotions (crowd clapping in background).

Okay I have a question in verse two does the word kill mean like to make one not alive, or to cause death as in seperation?

so yeah basically jesus is saying that he's going back to heaven and sending the holy spirit to guide them and to help them along theor way.

This passage is talking about the Holy Spirit. It is called our 'helper', and that's a suitable name for it because it truely does help me with almost everything in my life. It's kind of like a conscience. It tells you whether you should do something or not. I'm so thankful that God gave us the Holy Spirit to keep us from stumbling in our lives! (:
