WELL HELLO!
Great Job Yesterday! I cannot believe how many Night Owls there are in my youth group. I went to bed at 10:50 last night and when I woke up there were 9 more devotions posted. (some of which were done at 1:23AM) UNBELIEVABLE! Go to Bed Teenagers! :)

A Few Thoughts from Yesterday:
Tyler: Great words when you said: "Don't be selfish because God died on the cross for US not HIMSELF"
Cary: I am so glad that you will skip your "manditory" football practice, to come to camp with us! You and I both know that you WONT REGRET IT!
David: It is kind of funny that you were SO EXCITED that Alex didn't do his Devos! We have to work on that :) you are supposed to call him up and tell him to do his devos, NOT jump up and down with excitement because he didn't do them! :)
Brooke: I will try to ask your parents about you doing devos online.
Jill: Where did you get a job? You better be careful girl. I am known to pray that people lose their job when they skip church for it. (ASK JEFF) Just kidding! I wont pray for that yet, but I do want you to know that we miss you! AND Kacey better come, even if you don't!

Philippians 2:12-18
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,
15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

Verse 12 and 13 begin by reminding us once more, how Paul was pleased with the church at Philipi, because they did what was right, with or without someone watching them. Then Paul makes it clear that God is working in our hearts to fulfill his pleasures in our life. Do you let him?
14 is such a powerful verse, one that we all need to hear, Do some things without complaining! ... NO! DO ALL THINGS WITHOUT COMPLAINING! Are you a complainer? Do you complain to your parents? your boss? your teacher? your youth pastor? Dont! we must seek to be blameless and harmless, like "Children of God"

**Jessica: do you remember that Steve Green song? "Do everything without complaining, Do eveything without arguing, so that you may become, blameless and true, children of God..."

Ok, sorry to get side tracked, Just had a "silly songs with Jessica moment" Ha!

But the point of verse 14 is to remind us that we must live without fault, in a world full of fault! We must be clean in this dirty world! We are in the middle of a crooked and perverse nation and we must shine as lights fro Jesus Christ. How do we do that? Verse 16 gives the answer: "by holding fast to the word of life" GODS WORD! If we hold fast to Gods word, then we will not live in vain. We will not waste our life, and our opportunities to shine for Christ!

READ THIS:
I want us to come up with a new youth group name: "Mad 4 Christ" Is old and outdated, and in a way that was the teens who have already graduated. I want us to come up with a youth group name that has something to do with the Word of God. AND IT HAS TO BE VERY COOL!
(Maybe even something to do with todays passage, about growing up in a perverse nation and being the light of the world with the Word of God) EVERYONE THINK ABOUT IT! and let me know!

In verse 12 its talking about the other day devotions about doing right even when no ones around. In verse 14 , this verse comes to my mind every time i get frusterated with something or someone I think of this and then I cool off. I have a tendensy to complain alot. And the verse that talks about not complaining and doing every thing with a good attitude and without murmerings or disputings that talks about not arguing also. We just need to do the right thing.

This passage has so many truths in it. It covers everything from not complaining to having a good testimony. Have you noticed how often having a good testimony has been mentioned lately? This just shows how important it is.

The part that really stuck with me was the end where it talks about having a good testimony so that you don't feel like you have lived your life as a Christian in vain. As Christians we are to here for the purpose of sharing Jesus Christ. If we aren't doing that then when we get to the end of our life we will feel as though our life is totally wasted. What a thought!!

So each task God gives us, although it may not always be the easiest, can be done without even the slightest doubt as to why God wants us to do it. And yes if everyone acted this way toward authority then the world would be so much more peaceful much less altercations with teachers or parents. Pray for somebody on my mind today guys this person is going through a hard time and looking for the right stuff in the wrong places.

This is saying that through GOD you can accomplish anything. you should do what he ask with out complaining or whining because we should be eager to do things for him. If someone saves your life one day and then he ask you to do him or her a small favor your not just going to walk away your going to do it. Now didnt Jesus save your life wow and all he asks is to belief in him. Thats not even that big of a favor.

what i got from this was that Paul was thanking someone for being obedient when he was there and when he wasn't there which is hard to do, but we should always obey who ever is in charge of us. also we need to obey without complaining which is really easy to do, all you have to do is listen to what they have to say and do it, it isn't that hard it isn't rocked science. people make it so hard on themselves and the authority over them, i mean i can understand if it is something that is bad or will hurt something or somebody then obviously you shouldn't do it, but any other time it really easy and they just make it hard on themselves. it is also saying that the world is corrupt and perverse and it is hard to do the right thing in the world these days, but we still need to do the right thing or at least try to do the right thing because you are bound the fail in the world because no one is perfect. also we need the bible to help us in every day life or we will fail with out God.

Pretty much God is saying that he gave you salvation for free and instead of taking it for granted you should work and grow in your relationship with him instead of taking it for granted. Also God is saying that we should do this withought complaining because if you really think he is not asking that much and he gave all of himself for us and we complain about going to church and devos? If we do accomplish this our testimonies will shine so bright that everyone will know we are different and want to be like us. Also God remminds us that doing this will bring us happiness and not be horrible. Wow sorry that was extremely long! Pray for me nxt wednesday i have an Ap Exam and im super nervous =/!

God is basically saying thankyou for being faithful. When your at church you feel like you have to be so spirtual and then when your with your friends outside of church then your someone different and its so hard to be prasing God when your with your friends but we should make that a challenge for all of us because i know i struggle with that and im trying to work on that.:-)

P.S.I think a name for our youth group should be Kinetic which means a type of Energy and like all energy it needs a source to ignite it! God is the awesome Creator and source of energy for peoples lives.

haha I love "silly songs with Jessica moments"....
This passage is small yet has so many truths in it. We are to do the work of the Lord to please Him and only Him not to please anyone else or try to make people believe something about ourselves that are probably fake. Paul also talks about how we need to obey God. It makes me think that God is like some kind of tyrant with a whip standing to lash us back on to track if we turn back to Him and have fallen off the straight path onto the crooked one. Use God for assistance, stop leaning on your own understandings.
We are also told not to complain or grumble....o boy this one has hit home!!!! WE ALL STRUGGLE WITH THIS!!! If anyone has an excuse to even consider complaining, it would be Paul. Paul is sitting in a jail cell, cold, hungry, alone, and so much more, but what does he do?... writes to the church, praises God, honors Him, what a lesson to learn UHH?

We need to be open to God will in us and let Him work in us without us fighting back because He is our greatest authority. We should apply our respect and willingness, as well, to our earthly authority and like yesterdays devotions, put their interests (and interests they have for us) into higher consideration than our own. It takes us closer to being the blameless and harmless child of God we should be. The application comes into affect towards the end, where it speaks of the complications of being such a devout listener to our Godly and earthly authority; the fact that the world is only working against you. But, of course, we have a tool to help us get throug it :] the bible! I think by being in it everyday with devotions we are planting peices of it in ourselves that sorta remind us of what we should be doing and how/who we should be living for.

God wants us to do EVERYTHING without complaining. That is very hard to do! For me, at least. My dad says I always complain, but I don't even realize it very much. I guess it's become a habit, a very bad habit. I guess I need to ask God to show when I am complaining and then I can stop. That sounds easy, but I don't know if it will be easy. I've heard habits are hard to break.

Oh and sorry I didn't go to church. One: I didn't have a ride. And two: I had to finish a project.

Oh and, please pray that God will give me patience. There is this girl who is always giving me dirty looks and is talking bad about me. I honestly didn't do anything to her, and I don't know why she is doing this. It's so akward when I am around her. I would avoid her, but my best friend is friends with her and I hang out with my best friend at school and so does she.

this passage is telling us to do something that we might not realize we do a lot. Complain. We need to obey God's will with a smile on our faces. It show God exactly how much He means to us. If we complain that we are not devoted to Him. Kinda like what pastor Lee said on wednesday.

i get this=]
i myself have had problems w/complaining.
its really not hard 2 not complain like Tylermon33 said! JUST DO IT!

Where are we to complain about simple things like devos & other things when Jesus DIED on the cross for living a PERFECT life.
He never said a word as he was beatin 1/2 2 death!

Basically we should live life like someone's always watching! Do things our authorities & just do it.

As frustrated as i get sometimes i just remember how Jesus was beatin & hung on the cross to die for us, & he never complained...NOT ONE TIME! Then i think about how i have NOTHING 2 complain about compared 2 him.

this passage kinda makes me think that i need to learn not to complain and to do things without fault as much as possible even though the world is full of it. the only way i can possibly attempt this is withs gods grace and favor which will make it easier. also god knows when you screw up its ok becuse its hard not to and he is forgiving .
