Hey guys! Great thoughts yesterday! I wish more of us were on here! But I am thankful for the faithful!!

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Michael: I love that question: Is it possible to live without sinning? Here is how I answer it: Is it possible to go one second without sinning? Yes? What about 2 second? Yes? What about 10 seconds? 30 Seconds? 1 minute? 10 minutes? 1 hour? 24 hours? I believe the answer is yes to all of them, God would not call us to do something that is not possible! God has called us to live holy (seperate from sin) and that is what we should strive for every day!
Victoria: Glad you are on here! Are you coming to church tonight? (you better if you know what is good for you :)

Hebrews 5

1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

This is deep! If you are like me, you probably read quite a bit of this and did not understand it... I can explain part of it, but I want us to place our main focus on the last 3 verses... At the beginnind of this chapter it is explaining the position of the High Priest, the High Priest is the man in the old testament who went to God on behald of the people... The high priest went in to make the sacrifices for everyone elses sins, but the ironic part of that (what is also mentioned in verse 2) is that it says: "he himself also is compassed with infirmity". In other words, HOW CAN HE PAY FOR OUR SINS, IF HE IS COVERED IN SIN HIMSELF!!!!!

That is an absolute logical question, how can someone pay to get me out of debt, if they are in just as much debt as I am?? THEY CANNOT!!! In the same way, A Priest is a sinner just like me! Therefore He cannot pay for my sin! No, only a perfect high priest can pay for our sins, only a sinless sacrifice can cover our sins... Aren't you so thankful for Jesus!! He is the perfect High Priest! He could/ and did pay for our sins, when no one else could!!

That is cool, but lets jump to the end of this chapter! Look at verses 12 - 14
It makes it clear that there ar etwo kinds of truth, truth that is easy to digest (like milk) and truth that is much deeper (like meat)... The idea here is an illustration: You do not give a newborn baby a new york strip steak!! That would be crazy, and irresponsible! He might choke on it! His body cannot handle it! In the same way, you must start out as a young believer, or a new believer on the milk of the word...

It can be tempting to run straight to revelation, or some other prophetic book whenever you first get saved, but this passage makes it clear that we need to take our learning process in order! I was just talking with someone last night about the rapture and I thought to myself, if someone was not a believer, they would think that I am a nut for telling them that one day All Christians are going to vanish into thin air... We must take Gods truth in time, and in a process!

What stage in the process are you at? Time to start growing?

hey... this is what you talked about 2night... the last 3 verses talks about that if you still need milk.. than you are a baby. but if you are able to chew the big tough meat.. then you are a grown matured christian.

Yeah actually, Pastor Lee, the book of Revalation inspired me to become a Christian, because I saw it as really cool that Christians will vanish in thin air! I thought that was so cool! And the people left behind would be like whoa there is a God. That I thought was really cool. Don't get me wrong, Christ dying on the cross for ME was awesome too, that is #1 reason for becoming Christian. Relalation was 2nd. Wow, really off topic. The baby eating a meat, which isn't right, I just imagined if Will tried to scarf down a big juicy steak, and it wasn't the average... way Will should eat. I look back now, and I think I was a baby scarfing down meat when I was a begginner Christian, too much study of revalation- difficult to study...brain smoking...

okay well i just did this one whole time on my itouch but it erased it all so i will make this kind of quick! Pastor lee you were right, i didnt really understand the beginning of this passage but you helped me understand better with what you said! I tried to imagine Will with a steak too and it was weird. basically what this passage is saying is that we need to start out faithfully in the Word of God and continue by staying and growing in it everyday. This is something i need to work on because i have missed alot lately and i will try and stay on here from now on, because i need to! Once we get the beginning parts such as understanding what it is to become a Christian then we move on to everything else which is what you need to know for your everyday life as a Christian! Well i think this made sense and i hope it did, confused myself after writing it more than once! Well I will cyall Sunday! bye!!! Mal

I like what this passage has to say about taking compassion on the ignorant. The fools of this world can easily frustrate us or at least me lol. I know the verse is referring to High Priests in this manner but it can apply to all who have ample knowledge in the world.
I love your message last night Lee!
Certainly applicable in every respect.
When the passage refers to getting past the milk I can only think that we should yearn to drink SOO MUCH MILK ITS RIDICULOUS. WHY!?!?!?
Because when we are through with the milk we can eat Steak!!! this might be a little ambiguous.
When we are learning about God or have fallen away and need to get in his will again it is a struggle. A lot of times Satan will pull you back down. It will feel as though getting in the word isn't what you need you are meant to be miserable. Well to move forward you HAVE to drink the milk and start simply eliminating habitual sin everyday. Again this can be hard. When your actions begin to reflect your beliefs as a Christian you grow and then you can begin eating STEAK!!! This is where every aspect of your life begins to be refined by the word. You find that a wholesome life involves thanking God for everything, constantly striving to shine the brightest light possible and when you go to sleep each night you are satiated because you ate an amazing STEAK!! dinner. But the simple things need to come first.
Here's something that might help motivate.
"[The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today
Is christians who acknowledge jesus with their lips
Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle.
That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.]"
