Hey everyone, make sure you are in sunday school tomorrow, I believe Pastor Lee is talking about more of the end times!

Ecclesiastes 5

1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.
8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.
10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?
12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.
15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
16 And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.
18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.
19 Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
20 For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart.

This is packed with info, especially the first few verses.

Verse 5 and 4 is saying that you shouldn't make a deal with God, because there is a great possibility that you will break it.

I remember PL's story of him makeing a deal with God when he was younger. I don't remember how it exactly went, but something about PL saying to God that if his parents were to come down to him, he would do what God wanted. And he later got a call from his parents saying they were coming down within a short time. Then I remember Pastor Lee saying to us that you should never make a deal with God about something He wants you to do, you should just do.

NEVER MAKE DEALS WITH GOD!!

Have a good day!

This passage does have alot of information in it. And this is true: you should just do what God asks of you and don't make deals because you can easily break them. Come to think of it, it actually reminds me of the movie Aladdin a little bit lol. For an example, Jafar made a deal with Aladdin that if he fetched the lamp in the cave, in return, Aladdin would be given a reward of some sort, but of course Jafar did not keep the bargain he made and he twisted his own words around..off topic a bit, sorry, but it shows how deals can so easily have a darker side to them. When you make deals with God, people can easily change their minds and break it. Therefore, it could possibly result in a lie, depending on what the deal is. Not good! So don't make deals with God.
Verse 18 I think is saying that we should enjoy the life and things in life that God has given us, but also in verse 20 it states "God answereth him in the joy of his heart," meaning that God gives us true joy through our hearts, not through riches or wealth. Kinda of a reminder about Ecclesiastes Chapter 2 verses 1-11, the only true joy that we will ever need is given to us by Jesus.

so i did get a lot from this passage. Like i made a lot of deals with God and i didn't keep most of them!
And its cool cause God does his part its just our job to meet him half way!
I like verse 1 to, but i think i got something different then what it actually means, well maybe not... all i know is what i got out of it is that its not really all about going to church, but listening to the message and getting something out of it

I like verse 2 personally. Speak little and listen much. Think about everything you say before you say it. This is something we can all work on. Sometimes we are more eager to get something out and to take action than to think about what action is right or what to say. Verse 4 and 5 can teach us a lesson in integrity and commitment. IF we commit to a pledge we need to follow through with it. What if Jesus ha d committed to paying for our sins on the cross and decided that he wouldn't hold to his word. scary thought huh? Well we can follow in his footsteps he was a man of flawless integrity and commitment it is better to work on things slowly than to make deals and cut them.
