II Peter 2:

1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.
3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

Doom of False Teachers
4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;
6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly;
7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked
8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—
9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,
10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

This passage is very simple... God means business when it comes to sin and when it comes to false dictrines!! Peter explains by sharing several examples of Gods wrath... Remember when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorah? What makes you think that He wont do the same thing in your life to show you how much He hates sin? Our God is a loving God, but He is also a God of wrath!! He is the enemy of sin and will cast down his righteous judgment on anyone that is involved in sin...

If you are living in sin right now, it is only by Gods grace that He is allowing you to read this passage as a fair warning and Red Flag saying: STAY AWAY FROM SIN!!!!!!!!!

IT WILL DESTROY YOUR LIFE!!!!!

Verses 4-7 are in chronological order on how God's wrath has been shown and succeded from the Falling of a third of the angels, which are commonly refered to as demons, all through to when Lot went toward the sinful city. All are examples on how God can deliever wrath opon the wicked, like PL said. Since we are saved by Grace we don't really get His wrath, since we are forgiven. So seeing God deliever His wrath on other lost people is kinda fun to watch at first if that person did something you think, "you shouldn't have deserved" but the fact is, that person getting God's wrath could have been you if you didn't accept Christ's plan of salvation for your life. So before you start laughing at some person just randomly fly into a volcano from God's hand, you need to say to yourself that that could have been you.

This passage states that no one is spared the judgement of God. It says that why would God spare your judgement when he didn't spare the angels who sinned. It also says that most of us will follow our destructive ways because this world makes sin alluring. We need to resist this temptation and do the right thing because God will judge our actions.

Also, McCue I am sorry I got mad today it just... *sigh*wario...

I like this passage because it reminds us that our Father delivers us from temptation. I am way too tired tonight don't know why. It's interesting the way it talks about Lot, I thought he was less than righteous I'll have to check it out.

Better right this one down in the books Pastor Lee 4 people did there devotions! Btw Can I get a prize for being the 4rth person?

The first 3 verses basically say the greatest sin of Christ rejectors and the most damning work of Satan is misrepresentation of the truth and its consequent deception.

Then the rest of the verses found in "Doom of False Teachers" goes on and gives examples of punishment that God casted upon people (Such as reducing Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes), and if he could do all this then certainly he can save you from the temptation of false teachers, and keep the unrighteous under punishment.

Man I really got into this passage. =)
