John 13: 21-30

21 When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”
22 Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke.
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24 Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who it was of whom He spoke.
25 Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he said to Him, “Lord, who is it?”
26 Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.” And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”
28 But no one at the table knew for what reason He said this to him.
29 For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him, “Buy those things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.
30 Having received the piece of bread, he then went out immediately. And it was night.

This is such an incredible passage... If you just read it, and you did not get it, then you should read it again, after you read my explanation. This passage is at the supper with Christ and His Disciples. They are all gathered around the table enjoying each others company. They are even involved in some "small talk" that is not so small...

In verse 21 Jesus tells the Disciples: "one of YOU will betray me". When He said this, the passage says that the disciples all looked at each other. Do you know that look? When you walk up to a group of children and say "Who broke the Gumball Machine" They ALL just look at each other... (even the guilty one)

Well anyway, they main application I got out of this passage was in vere 23-26. I love Peter! I read a book once that explains that Peter has a Sanguin personality type. I have the same and therefore as I read about Peter, often times I can relate to what He says and does.

I would be dying to know who Jesus was talking about when He said that one of them would betray Him. So was Peter.

Most people would think, If Jesus wanted us to know who the betrayer was, then He would have told us. NOT PETER. Peter thinks to himself, I have to think of a sneaky way to ask Jesus who the Betrayer is...

So Peter makes a motion to Jesus to let Him know that he wants to ask Him a question. Then Peter leans back towards Jesus and says... "Lord, Who is it?"

Did He really just ask Jesus who the betrayer would be? What would Jesus tell Him? It is none of His business? Would Jesus tell Him that he (Peter) was the betrayer. (He was wasnt He? Remember when He denied the Lord three times?)

THIS IS SO INCREDIBLE... Jesus told Peter exactly what he wanted to know. Jesus answered Peters question. Peter knew who would betray Christ BEFORE IT EVEN HAPPENED. How? Because He aksed His Lord!

What have you asked of your Lord lately? Have you asked Him for anything? Jesus, the creator and savior of the world, is willing to answer your question. So ask Him!

Ask Him to restore your family! Ask Him to provide your needs! Ask Him to guide you to the life that He has planned for you! JUST ASK HIM!

Peter asked Jesus for something! Even thought it may have seemed a little weird, Jesus gave Him an answer!!

For our rewards trip we should all go to japan and watch them do ninja warrior live.

Wow jerk just so easily be willing to betray his lord and master. Hmmph what am I saying we all do that everyday when we sin. Just think it was because of our selfishness that jesus had to go and hang bytwo nails that were hammered into his hands after he was beaten with a whip that had stuff like broken glass at the end, and so he was put up on the cross and slowly bled to death while in agonizing pain. So lets try to not give in to our fleshly desires and try to eshewith evil just like job.

Wow,

I would say that it is amazing to see how Jesus reacts to everything, someone who knows EVERYTHING, from beginning to end, and even more!

I was just thinking of the passage pastor Chip was reading from the other day, about how the armies won great armies, by simply obeying Jesus.

And one of the ways he got rid of a large portion of the water, was a test, of them drinking from a lake, all that who were not modest, and drank like dogs, god had no need for in his army, but those who were modest and rank out of their hand, he used.

I can say that it could easily apply to this passage too!

Because what do we have to do, as Christians, and brothers of Christ, to not only be accepted, because we are already, but to be answered, well we are answered too! But to LISTEN!

I always read passages like this, and go Woah, what could it have felt like to just get answers when you sought them, and to get encouragement when we need it.

We can from the bible, but most of us, drink like dogs.. and just go to it when we are in trouble, or just absorb all the information then toss it aside when the conflict is done. I'm not going to lie, I use to be like that, not completely, but now I'm a lot more steady and modest with the word, and I don't feel as comfortable as I know I should feel, because I still don't have that.. I don't know, but I've felt it before, and I'm close!

praying and asking, are the ways to get closer. :)
As this passage depicts.

Hope you all have a great day.

Today I would like to say if you were not in church last night, you missed out big time. We heard comedian Ken Davis give the "Good News" message. It spoke to me alot, so I want to share with you what I learned.
In the begining of the message, he told the story of how marathons started. A guy ran from the little town of Marathon to Athens with a message, and after he delivered the message he fell and died. As Mr Davis told this story, all I could think about was: How many of us are running with a message? Are we running the race of life with no message? In other words, do have a purpose in our lives? or are we just running like everyone else in this world without a clue what for? I want to run with a message, the message of the Gospel. Don't get me wrong, I'm very far from being what God intended me to be, but I want to make my personal challenge to run with HIS message.

Wow this is cool Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray him even before he did it thats cool he can tell the future. Jesus said to the disciples that one of you are going to betray me and the disciples look around and wondered who it could be. Paul leaned over to Jesus and ask who it is that will betray him. Jesus said that the person who will receive the bread after I dip it. Jesus dipped the bread and handed it to Judas and as soon as he did Judas became posed by satin. Thats kinda scary if you think about it a man controlled by the devil! But Jesus need this to happen so he could die for us.

If I'm understanding correctly, Judas only thought of betraying Jesus after the bread was given to him. So Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray Him, before Judas even knew. That's pretty cool! And you're right PL, Jesus will answer any question no matter how weird it is.

Judas isn't very bright because if somebody told me what I'd be doing in the future while I was planning it in secrecy I'd runaway and neever come within 100ft of that person, but what I'm shocked at is Peter because he asks who the betrayer is and in the end doesn't do anything about it. Me personally would have just tried to prevent Judas from betraying Jesus, but God always has a solution and make sure everything happens for a reason.

Wow I wondered if everyone was trying to figure out who would betray him. Hewas chosen out of so many people to be a disciple and he betrayed Jesus so easily. I should not be quick and do something God doesn't want me to do like Judas.

this starts out by Jesus and all His disciples gathered around the table eating the "last supper", and in the middle of this Jesus gets up and says someone sitting here will betray Me. after Jesus says that everyone at the table starts looking around at each other wandering who it is. then peter leans over to Jesus and asks Him who it is, and Jesus gets up and says that who ever I give this piece of bread to will betray Me and He gave it to judas. then judas leaves the house when it was dark. so Jesus knows everything that has happened, that is happening right know, and that will happen, so don't be supprised when He does something in your life because He has everything planned out and everything is for a reason.

TIME OUT

Someone is posing as me, this is so way not cool. I did not comment earlier today. I will forfeit this little game should this behavior continue. Someone needs to sit in time out..........
I am sure pastor Lee did not give up, he's merely gathering his thoughts.

I noticed something. When Jesus tells the disciples one of you will betray me, its clear that Jesus is talking to the group. Simon Peter asked Jesus, "who is it". Jesus answered him, but did the group here the question and answer? Was this a secret between Jesus and Peter for now? Was Peter on the DL?
I wonder when Jesus told Judas "what you do, do quickly" if it was not because of the pain it caused Jesus for this to happen.
I like how Pastor Lee thinks,
What have you asked of your Lord lately?
We serve a gracious God who wants us to be filled with joy and blessings. Ask God to show you how real he is, He has done for me time and time again. Our God rains!

yea...my 5th time on!I think I know who my 2 cents is...maybe its the guy who works @ the movie theater. (sorry im not sure about his name I think its Rob or something like that) im not positive but this is my guess and i think it is definitely an adult though because of the way they write>>>I WILL figure out who this is cuz its driving me CRAZY!!!anyways...

In this passage Jesus tells the Disciples that one of them will betray him. Simon Peter had asked Jesus who it was. He said it is who I shall give a piece of bread to when I have dipped it.Jesus had given it to Judas Iscariot.WOW it would be hard to be in his place knowing that your about to betray Jesus. I honestly dont know what my reaction after that would be.

So in this passage I guess Jesus is trying to tell us that we can ask him anything no matter how weird or uncomfortable it is. So the story talks about how one of the guys will betray him and no one knows who it is so peter I guess is DYING to know... i mean who wouldn't be! so he asks and Jesus tells him exactly what he is looking for!!

This was not a hard passage to understand so I am just going to skip right to the application...

The main point that I saw was betrayal. Jesus knew this as well and he knew that someone at that table was the one to do it! But who? Peter wondered the same thing? Judas!
I saw in these verses that when we turn away from God's love and follow on a march toward evil, it gives the devil opportunity. Opportunity to plant evil seeds in our heart and just sit back and watch them grow.
I guess you could say that fallen or unsaved sin man need more than just an example. What I mean is that Jesus was the greatest example and role model of them all yet Judas still betrayed and did not accept the salvation that he knew was offered to him. But why? Am I one to talk though? Am I just like Judas?
Just like Judas did I can deceive others with my outward appearance but I can’t fool God. He knows my heart and at the end of the day he is the only one that I need or will have to answer to. So don't be fake. Don't be like Judas. Let's try it right here, right now!!!

Peace outtttt

Jess

Ok so Jesus is being betrayed and we have all been betrayed one way or another but the only diffrence ie that Jesus knew what was gonna happen see if we knew what was gonna happen we probably would solve the problem so it didnt happen because the pain hurts but the hard part is that Jesus knew and for him not to be able to stop it is a hard thing to do.

Okay well first of all, it says satan entered him when he took the bread so was the bread like, posessed?
im being dead serious and if i sound dumb, sorry; but it sounds like thats what its saying.

Okay so one quick thought; if i knew someone that was close with would betray me to the point of my death, idk if i would be so nice to them beforehand as Jesus was to Judas!
Jesus knew way before that night Judas would betray Him, but didnt treat him any different because Hes just that great.
Wowww, if i knew my bestfriend was going to kill me, i would cry and get a restraining order.
Im glad Jesus didnt and doesnt do that; He knows just as He did of Judas when we are going to betray Him but it has no affect on His love for us! Thats comforting (:
Now, idk why i got something totally different but i did...
In this passage, Jesus pretty much let satan have his way in order to do something great; die to save us. That reminds me of how the bad things in life happen for Gods reasoning and He can turn them into something good if you trust Him and not sit around sulking.
Jesus trusted His Father when told He would need to willingly die, and we should try to trust Him when He puts bumps in our paths too (even though its on a way smaller scale of course).
idk, i know im not completely willing and trusting in stuff like that alllll the time, but i can try for more. (:

ps; if youre not an optimist, im sorry. i tried.

I like this passage a lot!!!
verse 21 is basically jesus saying that he knows one of the diciples is gonna betray him.now in verse 22all the deciples were looking at each other wondering who it was going to be.so then simon peter asks who's it gonna be.then jesus answers whoever i give the dipped bread to is who is gonna betray me.so he gave the bread to Judas Iscariot.now if jesus told me that i was gonna betray him that would be enough to probably make me rethink what i was going to do(just like we said in sunday school).then jesus says whatever youy are going to do do it quick.so then he gets the bread and he leaves immediatly.

this passage can show us that jesus knows everthing you are planning to do.so you cannot try and hide anything from God,trust me he already knows!!!!!

Lately I been asking the Lord for strength and courage. To overcome sin & temptations. if i were peter i would like lock myself in my housse so that i would not betray Christ but jesus has His ways and even if peter did that he would have betrayed christ anyway somehow. If you really need something like strength or courage just ask God for it and He will give it to you!
