John 15:1-8

1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

What a cool picture here! By THIS is God Glorified: When We Bear Much Fruit! obviously this is not talking about watermelon growing out of your ears. This passage is talking about the spiritual fruit or EVIDENCE of the working of God.

Let me explain it by the illustration Christ gives. Jesus explains that He is the vine and we are the branches... Let me first ask have you ever seen a branch alive that was not connected to the "true vine" or to the "trunk of the tree". No! Branches don't just grow on their own, they must be connected to the vine where they get life from. We too must be connected to Christ because He is the source of our life!

You will especially never see a branch that is not connected to anything that is growing and producing fruit. There are some people in this World that want to pretend to be Christians. The fact is, they can pretend all they want, but their will NOT BE FRUIT in their life if they are not connected to the "True Vine" Jesus Christ.

Let me ask you... are you bearing fruit in your life? What is fruit? Love, Joy, Peace, longsuffering, gentelness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance

Because if you are not bearing fruit, Jesus makes it clear in verse 2 that: "every branch that does not bear fruit He takes away" and verse 6: "if anyone does not abide in me he is cast out as a branch into the fire". Can you guess what Jesus is refering to there?

It just reminds us, that if we truly believe in Christ, then there will be evidence in our lives... If we do not believe then there will not be any fruit in our life. Don't fool yourself by trying to pretend like you have fruit when you don't. Jesus makes it clear that the branches that don't produce fruit will be "thrown into the fire".

If you are not producing fruit in your life, then ASK CHRIST TODAY, to make you a branch that brings forth fuit. Be connected to the vine, Jesus Christ, and then you will see wonderful FRUIT in your life!

well i think that this passage is talk kinda talking about how we live our.when jesus is talking about abideing friut he doesnt mean it litterally, he is talking about all those things pastor lee listed.i remember this passage from when i was younger,i thought jesus wanted us to become fruit like watermelon or oranges(i was little).i love how jesus says that he is the vine and we are the branches.so basically he is the source of life and we are supposed to "grow the fruit".

This passage is one that probably we have heard before, but I got something new out of it this time. Think about this- the branch is useless without the vine. To put that into modern times- without God we are useless. I know that many times I try to do things on my own, but unless I am connected to God it is in vain. We can't live in a way that is separate from God and hope to be effective. Without God we are absolutely worthless.

i think this is like the saying the apple doen't fall far from the tree or something like that and it say that if were saved then we are pure by god's holy word and ifn you dont abide by his word then we will be cast far from the vine of holiness

what sticks out to me is when christ says a vine in me that dosent bear fruit... ill get rid of it. and a vine in me that does bear fruit ill prune it which means make it bear more fruit!! and i think that its sooo cool that if god thinks you are doing great works for him than he will personaly help you!! isnt that an amazing feeling and thought to know that the one and only god who created everything wants to come into your life and personaly help you!?!?!?! and i think that it is truly amazing that god says that if you are saved than you are basically a little appendage of him!?!?! that is sooo amazing!!!!!!! :D

Hey everyone!!!
So this is a cool passage,I've heard it many times before. well not many maybe 2 or 3 times! but whose counting!! Anyway, So a lot of times when you know someone and you tell them you are christain, they always try to see the fruit in us. well likely they don't know what it means but they are on the right track! the always see "are they happy, do they have joy in their lives?" and a lot of times people judge us by what fruit we have, like if we don't have a apple to give the bully at lunch! lol J/K
but we judge others to!
so how easy is it to jump up and break a branch off a tree?¿? pretty easy right well when we grow fruit its hard to knock us down cause were close to god!!!

i think this passage is very powerful.what i got out of it was that fruit sybolized blessings and happiness and empty vines are things that are meaningless and comsuming.god wants to help make our lives more fruitfuland get rid of things that arent going to help us progress in our lives and in return all he wants to do is spread the word to other people of how amazing god truly is and how he can enlighten our lives if we just put our trust and love into him.if you think about it with all the people who get saved every day it would be alot of responsibility but still all god wants to do is lift up the lives of people ...that just goes to show how amazing and selfless god really is.

the first part says that jesus is the real vine and his dad dresses him... idk what that means... oh nvm pretty much it says that everything bad in us god takes away and everything that is fruit bearing and good he makes it grow into something spectacularly ginormous but we're already clean ecause we have ask jesus into our hearts to forgive us and save us from the eternal wretchedness that is our lives dwell in me as I do in you because a tree can't grow fruit by itself just like you can't do wonderful things (like growing fruit) without me. jesus says he is the vine and we are the branches and whoever dwells in me shall do amazing things but whoever doesn't will do nothing. then he pretty much says that whoever doesn't have him is like a branch on a dead tree that withers and they take him and throw him in the fire basically saying whoever doesn't have jesus is going to spend eternity in hell. if you live with me my word will live with you and and whatever you ask for you'll get (that reminds me of the verse that says he who asks it shall be given and he who knocks it shall be opened or w/e) god is glorified that you do wonderful things for me so you will be my disciples

sorry i forgot to call her i didnt have her number after all but i just got her number so i will keep her accountable.

We r like plants and we need water to grow. and the water is like the Word of God it helps us grow spiritually. " It just reminds us, that if we truly believe in Christ, then there will be evidence in our lives " this is such a good quote, Pastor Lee. this is totally true that people can see Jesus in us through our beliefs.

In this passage Jesus is telling us that God will help and reward us if we have spiritual fruit in our lives. He also tells us that it is impossible to have spiritual fruit in our lives without have Jesus Christ in our lives. Thats why we need to do these devotion and other things of this sort to keep the fruits growing in our lives.

Ughh without the online devotions and the interaction with the youth group I feel as though part of my soul has been taken away. Oh well I snuck the moniter onto the computer while my paretns are out at some mexican restraunt. So so that my life can feel more fulfilled and joyous I shall now do my devotions, before they get back and I get in trouble.

So in order to bear fruit for god we must have jesus with us, and without jesus we are as firewood to be cast in the fire or "Lake of Fire" if you know what I mean. So pretty much lets try to do things for god so that we can please him and so we can bring forth more fruit or "Christians" so that there will be more people in heaven and less in hell :) YAY!!!

short I know but I don't want to be caught and have to endure 50 lashes with a whip. JK but seriously I need to go before my parents get back home TTYL and expect more devotions whenever I'm confident that I will not get caught. BYE-BEE!!!

this starts out by Jesus saying that He is the vine and we are the branches and the branches that don't bear fruit will be thrown away, but the vines that do bear fruit will be taken care of so that they can bear more fruit. then He says for us to abide in Him because we can't produce fruit by ourselves. also the ones that don't abide in Jesus will be cast out and thrown into a fire (which i am guessing is the lake of fire). then Jesus says that if we abide in Him and we ask for something than He will do it. finally He says by bearing fruit He is being glorified so we will be His disciples (i am glad we are all glorifying God by bearing fruits...i hope). so really all we need to do is bear the fruits and be obedient to glorify God and hopefully we are all being obedient and bearing the fruits.

Ok Pastor Lee I hope you can come Sunday so I can teach you a backflip so you can be on [PN] but yeah I will show you if you come

Jesus is saying that just as his father did to him he will do to you. He will guide you along the way and he will make take all the unnecessary things he will takeout and all the good things he will keep. Just like a potter that doesn't keep and clay but take away the unnecessary things to reveille the pot. when he starts talking about the fruit he means the fruit that we produce is our works. If we abide by him I will produce much works. I think when its saying that if you do not abide by me you with wither and be thrown into a fire means hell or the lake of fire. All you have to do is believe in him and you will live forever with him on streets of gold and huge mansions. How cool!

Is anyone else in the youth group getting prank called???

My partner is Tyler and my other partner is Marvin.

Verses 1 & 2 basically say to me that if your not to going to anything to spread God's word or prosper Him in anyway then He doesn't need you. Verse 4 says that we can not do anything by ourselves, but with God we can do anything. The sixth verse basically says if your not with Him then He has no uses for you and in that verse I think that by fire they mean Hell. So that says if you do'nt accept God then you''ll just die and spend eternity with Satan which isn't very fun. This passage is very applicablle because it says that if we're not producing fruit (spreading God's or living for Him) then God doesn't need us so we better start producing all the fruit if we want remain a part of God tree.

We dont know if we will have internet @ the condo yet.HOPEFULLY!

Following Christ is the most important thing we could ever do. But if we are not willing to obey what Christ has for our life than than following HIM won't be an easy task. We all have been given talents but Christ ask us to follow Him in the way that we are called to so that we will become successful in everything that we do and who we become as Christians. Pastor Lee asked us, Are we bearing fruit in our life? That's a good question! Are we? Are we using what God has given us for HIS glory? Are are we withering away because we don't care enough? It is sad to think that out there in our world there are "pretend christians" walking around. Possibly in our very church! A way we can continue to produce more fruit is we can get on these devotions faithfully but also to approach those "pretend christians" and show them that they don't need to pretend anymore they can experience the real thing! Think about it!

WE LOVE YOU ALL....WELL ALMOST ALL!!

When it says any fruit is pruned i think that means if we get saved he we are going to help other people to accept him. If we don't have jesus in our life while we are trying to help save someone we would just be a hypocrite.

I got to make it short.
This passage is very clear to me, God will get rid of dead weight.
Our fruit is our works, if we have none that honor God than we are not on his team. All we do should honor God, and when he prunes us his blessings will fall on us.
Got to go do chores, se ya.

I won't be at church on Sunday nigt, sorry. I really wanted to, but my dad planned a mini vacation to Orlando. We are leaving right after church on Sunday morning, and we are getting back at 4 on Wednesday.

As Christians, we should be producing fruit (evidence of Christ in our lives). The only way to produt fruit is to abide in the vine (God). Without the vine we can't produce any fruit. When a branch falls off the tree it dies. So basically we need to abide in God and produce fruit.

my partner : Amy !
and sorry about yesterday , I read it and I watched the video and then I had to get off the computer . and then I forgot that I didn't do them b/c i was on hte page and i didn't type . Sorry !

well back to the devos :
this is cool ! just like we are the sheep and He is the shepard . and He guides us . and in this we grow off of him and we can't live right without Him , so if we don't grow with Him then we will die in Christ !

Jesus says he is the vine and that his father made him. these verses say that if you glorify god he will make you more fruitfull. it also says that you cannot have fruit unless you know Jesus and believe he died for you to save you. it also says that if you live for God and be Fruitful he will bless you and give you what you desire.

Hmmm so when its says that we are like branches, that of course, needs connection to a vine its is pretty much depicting how important God is and how depending we really are on Him.
Not only have i never seen a branch not connected to a vine, ive never seen a branch ultimately connected to two vines.
We shouldnt and cant fully rely on God if we are trying to grow into something else and shouldnt let other things -vines- hinder us from growing on with our own vine
-God-.
Alot of things can try to pull us away and distort our steady growth (weeds) with the Lord and we need to keep feeding our little branches the good stuff so we can grow strong and bear fruit for Him.
