Well hello, thank you for coming to our devotional on this BEAUTIFUL Memorial Day! I must tell you about my incredible night!! So, last night after church... Me, My Dad, My Sister and Her Husband all went out in the boat to go tarpon fishing!! We got out to the water at about 8:30pm and it was really dark by 9:15pm. I experienced the most unbelievable waves in my life. (I know what Gilligan and the skipper felt like when they were shipwrecked) We were trying to get out to the pass for about an hour and a half when we realized that if we did get to the pass, we would have died. The waves where we were, were about 10 feet tall. and They would come up over the boat and DRENCH us all... Finally by 12:00 we found a little cove that we could hide from the huge waves until it passed over. We waited in that cove until about 1:30am; then we made our way back to the marina, and we got home by 3:00 am. It was an incredibly adventerous night! I will tell you about it in person the next time we are together!!

A Few Thoughts from Yesterday:
Josh: Congrats man!! You won... Now did you copy and paste or are all of those legit? Awesome Job!
Jonathan: You definitely get an honorable mention for your efforts! Great job man!
Rachel: You are once again... Funny! We missed you all day yesterday! where where you?
Everyone: Hey guys!! What happened last night? I wanted all of you to be there to meet my sister, and it seems like there were less tenagers there last night than have ever been!! Where were you all?? I am going to DOG PILE every one of you the VERY NEXT time I see you... I dont care if we are in the middle of Winn Dixie! Watch Out!

John 3:1-8
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

What a great passage that proves the COMMON SENSE of the Bible. Jesus is hanging out with a man named Ncodemus and Jesus tells him: To go to Heaven you must be born again... Nicodemus thinks the exact same thing that anyone would think if they did not know the Bible... They would think: "BORN AGAIN??????????????? WHAT?????? That doesnt make any sense!!!" And that is exactly what Nicodemus was saying! He said: What? How can a man be born again? I mean seriously. Does He enter back into his mothers womb and get "born again"?

That is a fair question! Jesus explains to him, what it means to be "born again". Jesus says, you must be born of water (Which we all were... ever heard the term "her water broke"?? That means you were born of water!) to be alive physically, and we must be born of the spirit (by accepting Christ as your savior) to enter into a new life with Christ.

When Christ explains it, it makes sense. There are two applications here that I want to share:

1. If you have not been "born again" then accept Christ today! You can only experience the wonderful life God has planned for you by trusting Him and being "Born in the Spirit".

2. We must be careful as Christians not to use terms that other people dont understand: For example: sometimes in youth group, I have said do your devotions and many teenagers have come to me saying: What in the world are "do devotions"... We must remember that not everyone understands the terms in the Bible and if they dont know the Bible, they may not understand what some of the words we are talking about mean either..

Have a great day Everyone!!! Love Ya's!! :)

Finnaly I'm back on a computer.I'm sorry pastor Lee please don't dog pile me! Oh BTW I did all the ones I missed. I love this passage, i think it's pretty funny. So Jesus is talking to the Pharisees and He tells them that you must be born again to go to heaven and the Pharisees are like hold up there. Are you saying we gotta go climb back up into our momma to be born again? Jesus just says no it means you must be born once of the flesh and once of the spirit. Sometimes after hearing "you must be born again" so many times we come to think of it as yeah born again duh. But to people who arn't saved they think woah I'm a little to big for that now don'tcha think. So we need to explain things in a way that everyone can understand.

This passage explains the whole born again process. When you say that most people are like Nicodemus and dont understand. What Jesus says it means is that you are literaly born once but that once you become a believer you spirit is born making you born again. I think P.Lee is right when he says that we need to explain things so that people who havent gone to church or know anything about religion can inderstand what we are talking about...It might even allow us to reach more people because somethimes christians come off a little Holier than thou.

in this passage jesus is just basically telling the pharisees "and everyone else" about what it means to be born again. and i could imagine what it would be like to hear you have to be "born again" that would be creepy! but no, it just means to ABC admit, believe, confess. then you will be born again.

Hey Pastor Lee!

Nicodemus didnt understand what born again meant until Jesus explained it to him. Just like us we dont understand who Jesus is until we get to know Him more and more each day. Nicodemus was'nt saved and didnt know what the Bible was saying. Like the other wednesday ago. you were talking about a sackbut and we had no idea what that is and then you explained it and we knew exactly what you were talking about.

I think this is a fascinating verse.
Jesus takes the time to explain to others everything. I think often times we get too busy to take the time to not only explain others our train of thought, and our way of life, as Christians. But I think we should take the time to explain our feelings to others, so they know, they don't just see someone frustrated all day, or happy all day, you just take the time to talk to them. Leading people to Christ and being a Christian is being part of the people, without getting caught up in the mess of the world. It's not easy, but every little step you take to show your heart and kindness to others, shows. And it casts forth a pebble in the pond, that ripples a good portion of the lake, before you know it, there are tons of waves. And they are good waves. Waves of Dedication, and respect. Kindness, and Christ.

So I think we need to take the time not only to slow down and explain to people what it is to be a Christian, I think we need to slow down with all our actions, so people can understand why we do what we do. And not get too busy with life.

well nicodemus came to Jesus in the middle of the night and was saying that you have to be Jesus because of all the things you are doing and he was wandering what it meant to be born again because he thought it meant going back into your moms womb so you could go to heaven. so Jesus said to him to be born again is to believe in the spirt and believe that Jesus is the Son of God. i remember it most by the ABC's "admit" that you are a sinner, "believe" that Jesus is the Son of God and DIED ON THE CROSS FOR "OUR" SINS (WOW), and finally "confess" your sins to the Lord. sometimes people get confused when we say "born again" or "saved", so we should try to say it simpler or talk about God when we around another christian so they can help you explain it better to them.

Thanks Pastor Lee, Katie, and Will for coming over tonight it was funnnn!!!!

I really don't blame Nicodemus or thinking that by being "born again" has to do with going back into your mother's womb! I find that amusing because I think I would be the same way....hahaha

I guess Nicodemus was seraching for something but becasue he had such a reputatuion as a ruler that is why he came to Jesus in the night. Jesus explained that we must be born of the spirit; born of God! Like Jesus said we all need to be born agian! I know I have! What about all of you?

So long, farewell
Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight :)

And thanks Pastor Lee for my SOCKS and SUPERMAN UNDERWEAR!!!!!
Ok on to my devotions ok so this passage talks about this guy nick i dont know how to spell his name so im gonna call him Nick so i think its cool that Nick was seeking Jesus because he knew what Jesus could do and thats why he seeked him and i thinks thats cool because thats what we should be doing seeking Jesus wanting to find more out about him.And i thought born of water and the spirit i thought that that meant yyou HAVE to be baptised then i read Pastor Lees cpmentary thing and i said ohhhhhh i understand now.

i likke this passage a lot it reminds me how i was when i first heard the term "born again" i always wondered how you could be born again it was impossible. i then later realized being born again was in the spirit and i learned that you needed to be born again to go to heaven. i think its awesome how nicodemus came to the lord looking for answers about salvation and he finally understood.

This is a really interesting passage. I think from the meeting that Nicodemus had with Christ most people just think about the "must be born again" part. Of course this is a major part, but think about this. Nicodemus was a highly educated, extremely religious man. What if Christ had thought, that He didn't need to share the Gospel with him because of his background. I know a lot of times we don't share the Gospel with people because of their background and their appearance. From all purposes nobody would go and witness to someone that seemed really religious or how hard is it to witness to someone that looks scary. Christ didn't care- He wanted to share the truth with all those that came across His path. This passage just really showed me that all unsaved people, regardless who they are are searching for Christ. We must be able to put aside appearances and share the Gospel with all those around us.

Hey guys I'm happy to be in town for graduation and finals and whatnot so i'll be in until the first which means I'll see you all on wednsday and sunday hopefully. Anyway so yea many times I forget that people who havent been born again as we have cannot fully understand what the bible tells us. It's easy to get ahead of ourselves with this trying to help somebody. I think I would do well to remember that step one is introducing a nonbeliever to the idea of being born again rather than lead them through scripture if they need help in an aspect of their life. As much as I would like to help I know that above all Jesus wants to be a part of their life before they can start to be worked on. Another thing I see in this passage is that Nicodemus is a wise man, yet he doesn't fully understand what Christ means. Yet, he drinks in what Jesus has to say to him constantly asking questions. This is the way I want to be I pray that I won't ever be afraid to ask questions to mentors and righteous men. I think we can all do a good job of constantly yearning to learn more and more about God's word and learning to walk in his ways.

how am i always 'funny' to you?? lol,
well idk,
but once again im so glad people can interpret stuff better than i can, because apparently jesus likes metaphors which unfortunately im really bad at understanding.

anyways,
to understand even as much as i do -not much- of the term 'born again' you have to realize that your flesh and soul are separate and that they can be either twins or total opposites depending on how you handle them. The flesh is naturally, because it is physically of this world, an awful thing. And some people choose to let their souls coordinate, and waste their eternities. Your flesh and soul are born together and until the rebirthing of your soul and it is given to God, it is separate from Him and evil just as your flesh.
Sooo, who wants to be evil inside and out? not me :]
That is where Jesus clears stuff up; accepting Christ and unifying your soul with Him gives it a new life and you are born again in His death.
i think i sorta pretty much understand the term, so my only application is to realize how exactly to explain it to others, which i can always think more about since i mess up my meanings a lot.

I learned my lesson about kind of dumbing things down when talking to a non-Christian about God. Like 4 years ago, I was witnessing to a friend. I asked her if she had gotten saved before. She said yes and then told me about a time when she got stuck in a tree and then her dad saved her. When we are witnessing we need to remember that the things we understand other people may not.
