Hey, Everyone! Thanks for coming last night! I hope the message was a big help and an encouragement! Remember, we need to share the truth with Love~!
FRIDAY NIGHT AT 7:00PM WE WILL MEET AT THE CHURCH FOR A GREAT NIGHT OF FUN!
A Few Thought from Yesterday:
Cary: Very True! The only place that light in really made evident is when it lights up the darkness! What a cool thought!
McCue: Right On! I should have had you help me preach last night, with all of that post modernistic talk. You are exactly right when you say we must spread the truth amidst post-modernism.
Josh: We missed you last night! I hope the "stupid stanley steamer people" didnt kill you!
Kacey: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are the winner of the "Longest Devotion of the Year Award" (So far) keep up the good work! Also! Everything you said about giving up bad friends was so wise!!!!! I know it is not easy, but you will be so much happier!
Alex: I was reading your devotions with a few teenagers, and I am glad they were here, because I had no clue what "Kingdom Hearts" was. When they read what you said, they could only say the word "Wow..." (over and over) it was kind of funny!
Ephesians 5:15-21
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
Well Hello! This is a pretty neat passage, we see Paul telling us to walk circumspectly!..... WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES THAT MEAN! Well the greek word "akribos" means to walk perfect or in a straight line. So we are supposed to walk in a straight line with the Word of God. When we do that then we are walking as wise men, and not as fools. Why should we live according to the Bible? Well because we must redeem the time, or use the time wisely. Then the key verse is 17, where it says: Dont be unwise, but UNDERSTAND GODS WILL! How do we find out Gods will? By reading his word! By doing exactly what you are doing now, you are looking wiser by the second. Then we are told that we are not to get drunk, but we should be filled with the Holy Spirit! We need to submit and follow the Holy Spirits leading in our life. and then we will see some results.....
Have you ever been around someone who sings all the time? I am like that a little, but my Mom and my Grandma are Die-Hard Singers. Whatever you say, they always have a song about it. Have you ever met someone like that? Well, that is kind of what this passage is talking about, When we sing, it is proof that we are happy, and this passage tells us to walk around singing about the Lord, and his goodness. (Not while you are in class at school, but the idea is simply to always have a song on your heart.) Then: Be thankful to the Lord for everything! He is so good to us! And submit to one another, serve other people with humility as Christ Did!
There is a lot of information in those few short verses! What did you learn?

yeah first to comment
this passage says that don't get drunk with the devils work and that we need to fill our glass with the word of god that way we don't walk around doing the devils work
Yo Yo This is Brenden Dog!WAZZZZUP!!! JK! This is the greatest verse ever! Think about the overabundantly graceful Will of God. To think that our gracious hevaenly father has a perfect plan for my life. I must diligently seek his will for my life. I must get rid of my prescription drugs and stop listening to music that dishonors My Lord and Savior! Ok... See ya peeps!
OK, this is really Brenden, that was Pastor Lee showing me how to post a comment to this devo blog. I am not really on "prescription" drugs. Ok, so, we should not drink from evil, but "drink from the lord" by being filled with the Holy Spirit. We must also use our time talking about the Lord to the people around us, instead of talking about evil things! Stay True to the Lord! I am Brenden and I approve this message (I just stole Jessica's ending)
Hey, guys! this is a quickie so try to bare with me now please. verse 15 and 16 say how we should walk upright and use our time wisely because the days are evil.... they can strike at any time out of nowhere..... it goes on to say don't be foolish, but understand what the Lord wants you to do and do not be full of the world and worldly things (e.g. carnal thoughts, what you say et cetera) because you will lose control of it, but to be full of God and his works and to be full of his love and wisdom. lastly, it says to speak with one another with good meaning and songsand praise the lord in your heart, giving thanks to the lord for everything he does and has given you. also to be humble to everyone and to serve them like God did to man when he was on Earth
P.S. peace out my home slices of bread
Am I making good use of the time God has given me? Or am I spending my time on earthly things rather can eternal things? Understanding the will of God for my life is doing what I am doing right now by studying His word and praying daily!
God also isn’t trying to be what we call a “fun sucker” like when he says not to get drunk! He doesn't say no to these things just because. These problems come about when we misuse the fun things that God has given us!
I also see that I need to turn on a thankful spirit! How? Be thankful at all times for all things! I can encourage myself with my own singing of praises to God and if you know me than you know I am singing to myself a lot anyway!
God is love I need to learn to walk with Him always!
Simple: dont drink wine/beer drink in the Spirit of God. This passage is great because I know kids unfortunetly that do this and have this problem I cant help them with it because there in jail. I pray for them everyday that they will just trust in Christ and instead of walking uncircumsectly walk circumspectly in Christ and while you are drinking in the Spirit start digging in the Word of God. And find out more about Him.
Alright guys we need to get our act together. Lets stop being the stupid and immature teenagers the world protrays us to be, and instead let us be wise. We don't need to go out and get drunk or any other stupid thing like sex, drugs or gangs or plainly whatever. Lets just praise the lord and be thankfull to him and everything he has given us. Also be respectfull to not only god, but those that he has put over us like teachers, cops, and yes even our parents. This way we can show the world just how much different we christians are!
Oh pastor lee sorry i won't be able to make it friday, but my mom is coming home. YAY!!!
I will be there 2moro for the activity but i will have to skip gymnastics for it but i don't care its going to be a blast. Hope you guys can come ok104Iloveyou2bye..[PN]!
The passage is saying that getting drunk is bad. you dont need to get drunk just to have fun. A lot of the kids at school are always talking about going to some awesome drinking party but thats not awesome in like 3 years there going to realize how stupid there choices are because most of the kids will get mature and want to settle down and start getting their life on track. drinking is also really unsafe do youu know how many teenagers die in car accidents relating to drinking and driving.....well i dont know either but i just know thats a big number. We should be sober and not just meaning without alcohol but in our actions too. We should be filled with the spirit and reach out to those in need of salvation!
THIS IS SUCH A KOOL PASSAGE!!!!! :)
People now-a-days are settling for what the world has to offer.........BUT!!!! Gods way is SOOOOOOO MUCH COOLER!!!! God has a plan!!! but we have to follow god and do what he says! LIKE PASTOR LEE SAID!!!!! he has EVERYTHING he needs.... not WANTS, but NEEDS!
God only asks us to do one thing!
JUST READ MY WORD AND LIVE BY IT!!!!!! Be wise!! dont follow down a path that you know will lead you down a path of DESTRUCTION! sure its fun for like.... 30 min... but then you are feeling worse than before!!!!!!! God asks us to live by his word and he will gurantee us that he will provide everything he NEEDS! Like pastor lee for example... he needs a car, GOD PROVIDED!!!, he needs a house, GOD PROVIDED!!!, he needs a good job, GOD PROVIDED!!! and dont think that he never gives you anything you want... pastor lee has MRS. KATIE!!!, AND TO PUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE, HE HAS A NEW LITTLE BOY!!! Gods way of living can bring blessings and happiness like you wouldnt believe!!! but we have to do what he says and be different from the world. people have ruined there lives by doing stupid things that i gurantee you they regret... AND SOME WERE CHRISTIANS TO!!! GODS WAY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRUE HAPPINESS!!!!!... its your choice to follow him though.... Peace Out
P.S. i have a HUGE! spanish test tommorow... please pray for it... thanks...
OH AND I AM NOT DOING GOOD IN ALGEBRA RIGHT NOW... PLEASE PRAY FOR THAT ALSO... THX-A-MILLION!!!!!! SEE U NUUUBZ 2MORROW NIGHT!!
this is a good passage because we need to look to the Lord for everything. it says dont be unwise, and like cary said it may be fun for a while to do something bad but it feels worse after you have done it and you know it was bad because the Holy Spirit tugs at your heart making you feel guilty afterwards. it also says dont be drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit, meaning dont do bad things to feel good or look cool but do something God would do like something nice for somebody to make them feel good and not yourself. also we need to speak to one another nicely and with good words to one another so people talking trashy and with no common sence can see something different in us and maybe they will ask us why we are so happy and we could tell them about God and invite them to church. also give thanks to the Lord for everything he has done for you and me especially when we didnt diserve it!!!!!
PASTOR LEE I CAN NOT WAIT TO SPEND THE NIGHT 2MORROW NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........:)
......................teehee!
TOO MANY CAPS CARY PLEASE DO NOT SCREAM LIKE THAT OR I'M GONNA SCREAM AT YOU! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
This passage starts off saying that we cannot dilly dally. It tells us not to be drunk or in other words be clear minded. It tells us to be filled with the spirit and to sing and shout and give praise to the lord. Finally it tells us to give thanksto God for everything he has done for us and it tells us to be kind to one another as Christ was kind to everyone.
P.S. Sorry Pastor Lee but I can't go on friday cuz I haven't seen my dad in a month. As you would say "stupid divorce!" :(
asdfghj; i just typed out like a whole book trying to analyze what i really thought about this passage and what happens? The computer shuts down. well, i guess ill start all over: I had two totally different perpectives after a lot of thinking so ill just put them both even if i embarass myself
#1: I had always thought 'circumspectly' meant discreetly so when using my definition it seemed to change my whole train of thought. When told to walk circumspectly i thought to handle your life cautiously, but keep your heart open to God. And wine; not as a drink, but as any poison that keeps you from glorifying God. To fill yourself with better things like the gifts you were blessed with and to be thankful for them.
#2:
however, pastor Lees definition gave me a great idea, lol. if we are to walk circumspectly (lined up with the Lord) how are we to if were drunk? and you know how the popo test for drunk driving: the walk-in-a-straight-line test. you cant do it! in order to be in line with the Lord, we have to keep away from those toxic things that will confuse us and keep us from understanding Gods will. instead of the misunderstanding, we should fill ourselves with the good things were blessed with and rejoice for them.
This passage is short but has a lot of meaning to it!
A verse that caught my eye is
18) And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit
which means we shouldn't get drunk with evil from the devil.but fill up with th wine of god (holy spirit)
i like this passage a lot...well the bible has so many beautiful, touching passages an it's hard to choose!!!
=]
i remember memorising {or how ever u spell it} these verses at the Wilds a few years ago =]
and what i got out of this is that what ever we do we should do it thinking is this going to be honoring God and is it gonna be good use of my time and when it says dont get drunk i think that alot of teens these days can really relate to this because all you hear about at school is how people went out on the weekends and got trashed and they cant remember what they did ya see this right hree tell us why God says dont get drunk because when were under the influence we do stupid stuff and its not God honoring and were supposed to be living everyday ready for the rapture to come and getting drunk is not one of the ways you get ready for it
and another thing is that we should always lift others up and have a cheerful attitude about stuff =] even though its really hard sometimes just remember that its not you that you have to please its God
Ok, I can't really write a lot today because I have a mega report due tomorrow and my teacher gave out the assignment today. Thanks for the notice? Not so much. : / Anyways, this passage is basically saying that we should always live for God like he is coming back any moment. Do you want him to come back while you are sinning? I'm guessing that is a no. We need to be filled with God's love and joy at all times.
Hmm. Redeeming the time because the days are evil. To make good bad time?
Use time wisely. hmm(ponders) Walk circumspectly(cautiously, or well considered.)
Ok well call me crazy but this passage is not only stating yes use time wisely and walk in God's will but to me It says look at mistakes in your past and learn from them.
When Paul mentions walking circumspectly I think of considering the path behind you and
to make sure that the path ahead of you is straight and narrow. When Paul mentions redemption of time i can only think of sin in our past and being able to walk a righteous path in the future.
This verse is an inspiration and reminder to me that any sin in our past should be used to motivate us to do faithful things in the future. This will be my last devotional until monday :(
I'll miss you guys Sunday I'll be in Illinois getting hurt.
Also, Pastor Lee if you get the chance call me tomorrow I'd like to talk a little bit about this passage I have a couple questions. ^_^
Please pray that the Lord gives me strength mentally and physically this weekend It's going to be rough.
