Ephesians 4:25-32

25 Therefore, putting away lying, “ Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.
26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
27 nor give place to the devil.
28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

This is such a great passage! Think about it like this: Yesterday in Sunday School we talked about Three steps to getting rid of sin: 1. Put off (sin); Renew your Mind; Put on (God's Righteousness). Well, today the passage gives several illustrations to help us understand the passage better. Here is my summary.
Here is a good way to understand it: There are two kinds of people: The grouchy, mean, bitter, angry gossiping kind of person, or there is the kind, tenderhearted, forgiving, loving, encouraging, and truthful person. Read through the passage and look at How we are told to get rid of the mean-ness and the bitterness, and the cruel words, and BE NICE! BE FRIENDLY! BE GODLY!

What jumps out to you about this passage?

ha, its not monday yet...
well
anyways, i see this like rules for good and Godly character; to not be a lying, angry, unedifying, yucky speaking, unkind, bitter, unforgiving, egocentric person that displeases God and 'gives place' to satan. The last verse says 'even as God in Christ forgave you' meaning we should reallyy be kind and understanding just as the Lord is and was to us. So, with that especially mentioned, we should add these things into character to be a more Godly person that we should more often intend to be.

This is an amazing passage, I can recall coming to before when I have angry at another individual for whatever reason. I think It is important to note that the scripture tells us it is ok to be angry. Aristotle once said-
"Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy."
So not only is this true, but when we are angry we have to withhold malice from our tongue, and do not sin. Even Jesus got angry but never sinned in anger.
I love this passage also because it is built around building people up.
Something that is so important in today's society because everywhere we go we see people acting spiteful to one another breaking each other down. It is our responsibility to set an example an stand out as Christians by being kind and building people up helping them out.

Okay I'm confused how did rachel post a comment before the comment was even up??? Anyways to sum up what this passage says umm well don't lie, be angry, let the devil take control of you, steal, have corrupt words( A.K.A. cussing), or grieve the holy spirit. so pretty much be nice to each other.

well what i got out of this message was to not let sin corrupt your life and not to let the devil rule your life. also don't speak evil things, don't lie, don't be angry, and don't grieve the holy spirit. be kind one to another!!!!!

for me sometimes instead of putting it away I take it out and play with it. Lots of people do this and the Bible also says "Hate stirreth up strife" I forget what passage that is but you need to give up everything that is bad. Bad music, Bad language, Bad anything that if you were doing it right in front of God's face o wait you are.And lately I have been working on my anger attitude like when I get mad at someone I try not to be mad at them I try to just get over it as quickly as possible.

Christ forgave US even though we are sinners and will always be as long as we are on this earth. So why can't I be forgiving of others? I think that the one thing I am struggling with the most is forgiving and showing Christ like compassion towards others. It is especially hard to show that when all that person wants to do is tear everyone around down with them or they can only start major DRAMA I hate that...save it for your mama! hahah
Anyway these verses talk about how we need to not let the things come out of our mouths that will destroy only things that will build up. Don't you remember that old Steve Green song that he would sing with the kids that said...keep your tongue from evil keep your tongue; and your lips from speaking lies keep your tongue from evil keep your tongue :)
We as Christians are one family and need to be there for one another. But if we are speaking lies or hurting or stealing from them than not only can we loose friends but we can draw farther and farther from the best friend "Jesus"

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
Meaning we have every right to be angry if someone said something about us or did something to us but "do not let the sun go down on your wrath" means that dont take it to far dont sin over it dont try to get revenge for it.

We should always be kind, gentle, and forgiving to one another.Even for whatever reason. We should never be mean, bitter, cruel, nasty to each other!!!
I mean when Jesus was on the cross don't u think he wanted to scream at every body, curse everybody out when they were being mean to him?¿?¿?
well of course!!!!!! i mean who wouldn't...but instead he just simply prayed"Lord forgive them the don't know what there doing" or something like that i don't really know?¿? but still!!!!=)

This is a great passage.
to me it tells us that if you let satan take control of you you will become the bitter, angry, bad seaking, sinfull person that is talked about in this passage but if you let jesus in your heart you learn that you should be the other person the tenderhearted forgiving and kind person.

Ok, God is telling me not to: lie, speak badly about people, and let anger get the best of me. He wants me to be kind, and forgiving to other people. This is something I struggle with. I usually get angry and sin, but God wants me to be angry and sin not. What I am trying to do is when I'm angry to read the Bible, pray, or listen to good music. It's been helping, but I usually remember to do that after I've already sinned. I need to remember that before I sin.

This is a problem that all of high schoolers need to work on, talking bad about someone. wether it be just a small insult or a long drama filled gossip, it needs to stop. This passage tells us how to deal with our anger without starting up an argument.

is this passage its talking about how you should behave. you should not cuss and dont steal either. If you have done these things you should stop. would you steal if god was watching you? I know i wouldnt I would feel so guilty. It also talks about lying and you should tell the truth. If you lie about something its just going to create more problems. Like if you get in trouble with your dad and he asks you what happened and you lie you get in even more trouble if he finds out. If you would have just told the truth he might let you off the hook. thats all i got from this but i hope you see everyone wednesday because if off work and sorry for writing so much!
