These four verses should be easy enough for all of you to figure out. Come to Sunday School tomorrow morning at 9:15.

Ephesians 6:1-4

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

What are your thoughts?

I kinda have a problem with this sometimes and I need to work on it. I soo want to live long on the earth. Ok question for Pastor Lee What if your parents ask you to do something against God? (not that mine would) but for instance say they wouldnt allow me to go to church but I know from the Bible that I should what would a person do?

These verses are about obeying. I'm pretty sure that everyone has a problem with this. I know I have a mega problem with obeying. Not obeying your parents is like not obeying God. God gave you the parents you have for a reason. We need to honor and obey them because God says it is right.

I have known and heard these verses for as long as can remember! It is one of the Ten Commandments!
My thoughts are that we as children need to be respectful of our parents, "honor" them, love them and always obey them. I can't say much because I am not so strong when it comes to this! I mean I can talk back to my parents like there is no tomorrow :) but I also know that it is wrong... God not only gives us a command here but also with the commandant comes a promise that says if we honor our parents than our lives here on earth will be long. I would like to live longer like 200 or so hahaha! It also talks about how the fathers need not to provoke or irritate and cause them to become angry because that only causes more problems in the home!
Like the good old Bill Cosby said,
”I AM YOUR FATHER, I BROUGHT YOU INTO THIS WORLD AND I WILL TAKE YOU OUT!”

“that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
Meaning your parents will tell you stuff that you need to obey for your safety or your health so if you follow what they say then you shall live long on earth.

Well well well, the hardest thing in a teens life :) This passage is pretty simple to understand it says right there in black and white honor your mother and father. The best part for me is verse 4 where it tells parents to not provoke their children. I seem to remember Josh remindimg his dad this recently in the car. It was pretty funny.

Also what weeks are we going to the Wilds could somebody tell me cuz i'm lost.

what i got from these passages was for children to obey their parents. that sounds simple enough, but some kids make it so difficult. all they have to do is obey, that isn't hard at all. also it says for us (children) to obey our parents and we will live long on this earth, and i want to live long on this earth. it also says for the parents not to prevoke or aggervate their children but bring them up in the Lord. just obey your parents and don't make it hard on yourself and your parents.

These verses are about obeying and respecting your parents even though this is extremely hard to do...(believe me i would know.=])even though not everyone agrees with the rules their parents set god tells us to obey and honor them anyways, because in the end
it makes you a better person and you'll live longer for it.The second half is saying that fathers need to not provoke their kids and intentionaly do something to make them mad because this only makes the situation worse and to treat them with love even when they do wrong because thats what Jesus would do.

See you guys in Sunday School!! =]

haha; this is probably the most used between my mom and i, she likesto remind me when im being difficult. its pretty plain here; your parents should honor you - they dopnt have to much of a problem as i do- and i should honor them. this is an area i dont think any person i know is perfect on and i can definately think about this verse more. i was brought up really good, my mom always taught me right, so now only i am responsible to act right and obey.

Wow yesterday was so fun and that game sardines is amazing we should do that every Friday! I wished more people would have come it would have been even more fun.

Some times I get angry at my dad and I don't respect him but then after I get punished I realize that I made the wrong choice and that I should respect him and my mom even if there wrong. Its not about being right or wrong its about respecting your elders not just your parents but like your really cool YOUTH PASTOR also! Fathers should also not punish them by hitting or my pure anger but show them what is right and wrong.

this passage tells us that we should obey our parents!this will probaly be a verse you will say a few times to your son as he grows up.i wish i could have been to sunday school this morning but i am here at my dads house.so anyway theese verses tell us that honoring your mother and father is the first of ten commandments. obeying your parents doesnt seem that hard but sometimes it is. it also tells us that our parents should raise in training and admonition of the lord.basically that means that our parents should bring us up as children of the lord so that we grow spiritually.

Well yeah i think all of us teenagers have problems with honoring or mommys and daddys. Although put in reverse i also believe most fathers have a lot of problems with not provoking their children to wrath, especially my father who annoys me constantly!!!
