Ephesians 4:1-6

1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

This passage is about the unity that we share as Christians and the unity in Christ Jesus. First of all it jumps out at me, that Paul is not bragging about How great of a Christian he is. No, He is humbly calling himself the prisoner of the Lord. He has given himself over to God permanently because He was called to do so. Paul then tells us that we need to walk, (or live) worthy of our calling. In other words, God has called us to do Great and Mighty Things! We need to live like it! Lets live like we have a higher calling than just wasting our life away. Then, when we walk worthy of our calling, we need to do so, humbly like Paul did. And the word that sticks me everytime is that word longsuffering! I usually dont have the attitude that I am willing to "Suffer long" for something. I usuallly tell myself that "I dont deserve this". But God says, show your love to me by being willing to suffer if that is what happens. Lets be longsuffering!

Hey if anyone reads this post will you tell me did we learn verse six over at the wilds cause i remember trying to remember it somewhere. Man if it weren't for that darned school bell i would have had this done right when pastor lee posted it. Anyways i think in the first verse when it says prisoner of the lord it also means kinda like we're his servants. so paul asks us to walk with the lord and to follow him in his ways. so the next verse says how we should walk with the lord with humility pretty much, and to love one another. The next verse sounds kinda funky to me sorta like that we are all as one. In reality i truly think its saying have a peacefull mind and heart. Alright so the fourth verse is saying we have an earthly body and our spirit that will go to Heaven/hell and that god has called us. fifth umm yeah what the verse said. and last we have one god and through us and in us is above us.

So I'm driving along today and listening to some older Audio Adrenaline, more specifically the song off their Some Kind of Zombie album. (Good CD) The lyrics are as follows:
I must have been confused or vain
To let this evil in my brain.
Lord did I enjoy the change
That you made inside my heart?
Oh here they come
Im not afraid
Theres no temptation I cant evade.
Stand up straight
Look through the haze
I begin to walk through the maze
Here they come
Theyre all up on me
But Im dead to sin like
Some kind of zombie.
I hear you speak and I obey
Some kind of zombie
I walked away from the grave
Some kind of zombie
I will never be afraid
Some kind of zombie
I gave my life away.
Im obliged and obey
Im enslaved to what you say.

Now I dont know about you but this captures my attention, especially "I gave my life away, I'm obliged and obey, I'm enslaved to what you say" We should be servants of the lord willing, as Pastor Lee said, to suffer for endeavors for the Lord. Today I'll be praying that I live my life for him and not to please myself.

I think that Paul is trying to encourage us as Chrstians to live the way that God had called us to live.
I can honestly say that I was out tonight and saw a couple of people that I DID NOT want to see and I was thinking why are they here, what are they doing, go away and my attitude at that moment changed from good to bad and annoyed. But If I am called to be Chrsitlike and be a light into the world than wht was I thinking acting that way! That is why I need to do like what Paul talks about and live up to the calling that God has given me.
Also I need to learn that if I need to "suffer long" to do something for HIM than that is what I need to do. I can't be ashmed of HIM because than that will effect the way I live for HIM. That is why I wear that LIVE 4HIM bracelet on my wrist so that I can always be reminded.

so when is says the stuff about long suffering i think of missionaries in other countries who really dont have it very well off over where they are but they are doing what God had called them to do and they are in a sence "suffering long" by living with very little unlike us in the U.S who have everything we need and more and take it forgranted

and all the "one" stuff also reminds me of them because they go over to other countries to share the gospel with people of other religions who believe in other gods and the missionaries go to tell them about the ONE AND ONLY GOD
and not just the missionaries in other countries but everyone of us christians is a missionary in our own comunity so we should also be telling others about the one and only God

last night i was at my friends house and she got a letter in the mail from her cousin who is in jail and while he was in there he got saved from the missionaries that go into the prisions and in the letter he was explaining to her about his decision and prettymuch giving her the plan of salvation in the letter and she was reading it like he was crazy and he didnt know what he was talking about and i was sitting next to her and i wanted to say somethinkg to her about it but didnt know what to say (so i guess jsut pray for her that shell really think about what the letter said and her knowing that im a christian if she has any questions that shell askl me and that ill be able to answer then the best i can)

oh and mccue i thnk its kinda cool how that verse kinda somewhat goes along with what todays devotion says =]

These verses are saying that we need to do what God called us to do with the support of other Christians. We are like a family that needs to be there for each other, and encourage each other. It is also saying that there is only one God. There is a lot of different religions that say they believe the Bible, yet they believe in different gods. God specifically says there is only one God.

This passage tells us how to be as christans. It states that we need to be humble and be in unity with others. When we answer God's calling we need to do as He wants because He is in us and works through us.

i think this is saying that there is only one god and one faith and that is in Christ. all other gods are fake because there is only one true god who died for us so we can be forgiven. it also says that god has great plans for you. maybe its full time service or to live as a full time Christian!

we should try to be the best at what God has called us to do. We should be humble, gentle, and always looking for ways to bring peace to others We should not cause strife but try to be patient with others we should never think of ourselves better than someone else, we should remember that God is in control of all things and He should live through us.
