Matthew 26:47-56

Pastor Lee:
This short passage is so great. It is packed full of the Love and Mercy of the Lord. It also shows the absolute hate and irrational behavior of man. Look at how horrible Judas' betrayal was, He couldnt even just point at Christ, He showed ultimate malice and deceit by betraying Jesus with a kiss. What a cold heart.
Jesus tells Peter to put his sword away, and then basically says, do you think that I need you to defend me? 12 Legions would equal about 36,000 angels. God wanted Peter to know his power even during this scary time.
The truth is, Christ wasnt suprised with this moment, this was the moment he had come for. From before time, He planned this, so that He could pay the debt of our sin. And now because of His sacrifice, we can live with Him for eternity.

I want to have the mercy of Christ and even when others seek to detroy me, I will simply trust my father. whether times be difficult or even impossible, I want to respond like Christ.

What do you think?

47 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.”
49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
52 But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish[a] by the sword.
53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?
54 How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
55 In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me.
56 But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled

judas gave god a kiss goodbye but kss mans love not sorrow.when judas pulled his sword and struck that soldier god said put it away
i think that this passage says that god could of sent 60 billion angels and he didn't because he knew that he was going to the cross to pay our sins,

your right about that Josh! He could have called all the angels in heaven and earth, but He went to the cross willingly for us! Great job on your devotions by the way!
