Matthew 25:14-30

Pastor Lee:
This passage is very simple to understand. There are three men, God gives each of them something different and the question of the story is, What did they do with the gift that God gave them. God has given each of you "talents" some five , some ten, maybe some have only one really good one. But regardless, the question is what are you going to do with it. With any good investment there is some risk, and these men had to risk what they had, instead of just doing the easy thing and just hiding their talent. It is scary to see what happens to the "unprofitable servant" Use your "talent" for God and His glory. Read this passage and post what it means to you.

14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.
15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.
16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also.
18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’
21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’
23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.
27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.
28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Wow, This passage is full of so much content. God has given each one of us talents and abilities, the question is how will we use them? Do we just hide them? Do we use them for ourselves? Do we use them to gain fruit to glorify God with?

I want to be a PROFITABLE servant of God, I want to be a great return on investment for my Lord.

There was one thing that really jumped out of this passage to me. Often I think that I am really doing something great for God when I am just doing everyday things that are safe (like in the verses burying the talents) rather than taking that extra step of faith(investing the talents). I need to be willing to serve God, even when it makes me uncomfortable or takes more effort. It is really easy to serve God with things that are easy and comfortable, but if that is all that I do, it isn't going to be very profitable. I need to step out on faith and do those things for Him that require a little bit more effort. Just like in the passage, I can be assured I will certainly have a great return for my investment.

This passage says that God has given us all specific talents that He wants us to use to glorify Him.

We can apply this to our lives by finding out our talents and using them to bring glory to God.

P.S. sorry this isn't as long, I had more technical difficulties. >.<

this passage is uplifting in a way because some people think they are good for nothing and they dont know what they should do
but God says rite here that he gave everyone talents and even if you havent havent found your talent yet dont give up because he assures you that you have one
and your called to use that talent for the glory of Him

i havent yet found my talent or maybe i have but i just dont know that its a talent yet lol
