THURSDAY April 2nd, 2009

Hey everyone, sorry for posting so late last night, and I know no one posted a comment (including me) so the chapter today won't be as long so we can make up yesterday's.

Ecclesiastes 9

1 For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.

This chapter is telling us mostly that the lost may do as many tasks (whether good or bad) in their lives as us Christians, but after they die, they will be forgotten. I'm not really talking about this life, but after Christ takes us up, we won't remember people like Hitler, or Sadam Husain, or even people like the American Idol stars! Because all these people are doing are giving themselves fame and fortune to be better than us and to be remembered. The truth is though, we won't remember them when we slip into eternity, everything they did was a waste because it was for themselves!! NOT FOR THE LIVING GOD!

Come to the parent eat thingy tonight! And do yesterdays devotion as well!

This chapter explains really well how we should spend our lives in God's word and everything will be wonderful:) Verse 5 is telling us that people who did things for themselves (to get fame and fortune) and not for God will easily be forgotten anyways, and so will all of their vain feelings. Relating to Proverbs 11:7 "When a wicked man dieth, his expectations shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perish." And again, a look at Ecclesiates Chp. 1, a solid reminder that everything we do in life will be looked at as a waste if we do not follow God and if iwe do not do what God asks of us. And fame for ourselves is not one of them. Sometimes, you will hear really strange things that people do to just draw attention to themselves, and that's not being faithful to God. Verses 7-9 says how we can serve God and have a joyful life. Verse 9 I find cute: live joyfully with the one you love all of the days of your life.
After reading all of this, I think "Isn't the bible awesome?!" really learned alot from this passage.
Amen.
