Alright guys! What an encouraging day you guys made yesterday! Thanks for doing you devotions! You all are great! Well, I will post some comments today about what you guys talked about yesterday!
A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Michael... nice try, but a lost person will not see a good, growing, "real" Christian, and decide to never look at Christ... An illustration does not mean that Every single concept that you ever throw at it will align, it simply means the ones that were mentioned have similarities... The sun is really reall really hot, but that doesnt mean that when you become a Christian you become really really really hot! Think about that :)
Victoria: It is so great to see you on here! Great thoughts on yesterdays verses by the way: Hey, have you gone by our house yet?
Tyler: Wow! GREAT THOUGHTS on verse 2 man! That was a great application!
Michael: Very wise stuff man! I feel the same way, when I get in the word at night, I feel like I forget it all before the next morning! Way to "Do Hard Things"! It is not fun to get up early to do devotions, but it is worth it!
David: Can you please explain the joke to me? I don't get it...
ALRIGHT GUYS ON TO THE DEVOTIONS!!! Hey, some of us are going to go to Buffalo Wild Wings tonight around 7ish, so call me if you want to go with us!
Hebrews 2
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Now this passage is incredible... I think I could write a mini book about it, but then you guys wont have time to read it so I will keep it as short and to the point as possible! Verse one begins by talking about how we must give earnest, passionate heed or attention to the "things which we have heard" (the reading, preaching and teaching of the word of God). If we do not stay in Gods word do you see what happens to us? "We slip". It is pretty clear, I have seen many people "slip" in the past year because they have not "stuck to the truths" in the word of God. Passtionately or earnestly we must STAY IN GODS WORD EVERY DAY!!
The next part explains, if we will be punished for our sin, then how shall we escape , if we neglect salvation? How can we live out the wonderful life that God has planned for us if we are neglecting Him, his Salvation, and His word? WE CANT!!!
Now, here is my favorite part... Starting in verse 6, we see that someone asked a question: "What is man, that You, God are mindful of Him?" in other words... God, why do you care about us?? Why did you make Him just barely lower than the Angels... (which is temporarily by the way because the Bible says that one day we will judge the angels)
Why did you make man and give Him so much glory and honor, and why did you set man above all of the works of your hands???
I can imagine the writers thoughts: Why did you place all your bets on mankind? Why did you "invest" everything on man... you knew that Adam would screw up in the garden of Eden, you knew that mankind would turn away from you and destroy this wonderful life that you had planned for them... If you knew all of that, then why did you pick mankind to show your glory??
then it says this: BUT WE SEE JESUS!! The perfect man! The one who came to fix what Adam and Adams seed had destroyed. We see Jesus who came and made himself a man, "one lower than the angels" although He could never be lower than the angels, he created them all and gave them all of their powers...
We see Jesus! He is the answer to all of our questions! He is the solution to our problems, he is the only way to Salvations!! Do you see Him?

At first I didn't see a couple of these things. Verses 6-9 are cool because a lot of times we'll here someone ask "why would God create us and have hope in us KNOWING that we will fail him and that there would be so much despair in the world. Isnt that kind of like a sick joke?"
Well these verses make it clear we had a perfect man for hope and God takes joy in watching us succeed him however ineptly we might do it lol. Then in verse 4 we read that God has given us signs, miracles, and wonders of the world to show us that hes real and working with us all the time.
Ok Precalc test LETS DO IT!
Who wants to go to Buffalo Wild wings? I'm totally down.
True that. Our attention should always be focused in the word of God. Like verse 1 says: "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip." Minds tend to slip away from it and verse 3 states that why should we be given so much salavtion from God when sometimes we neglect what is to be heard, then in verse 4 it says that there are signs all around us that God is with us always. I really like verse 9 because it tells us that we see Jesus, who is crowned with glory and honor and that he paid for our sins, a true blessing.
Pastor Lee: haven't been by your new house yet, I need to remind myself! maybe I should get one of those ipods or iphones to remind me, like the one you have lol. It's cool that we're neighbors. now, off to band practice.

"What's that up in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's the Lord Jesus Christ!" Too bad no one says that when they see Him. Its really cool God went through just about everything for little ol' me. And we will judge the angels? How? We don't know what they have done, besides them serving God.
that is so crazy that Jesus put Himself lower than the angels while He was on the earth so we could go to heaven and be with Him for eternity. that just shows how much He really loves us. if God loves us soooooo much then shouldn't we try to return the favor and show Jesus love also. I mean He died for us...that is some crazy love. it is hard though to always love because some things happen in our lives that make us unhappy or maybe even mad. we should try our best though to love as much and as often as we can just like Jesus did and still does today. we need to love just like Jesus loves us.
this passage is so confusing when i am tired but i will wright what i can.
I am pretty sure that it says that we need to pay attention to what the word is saying and not forget to apply it to our lives. It states that when the angels did something they got what they deserved and we need to know that what ever we do we will be judged for equally.
Awesome time at Buffalo Wild Wings guys! I had to post a second thought. I read 1-3 again and realized another great point. How can we sit idly by at any moment and not grow in Christ? How can we not focus on his word and take heed the things written in this most amazing book when we are awaiting this impending judgement and reward. Just excited to see how we need to always live our lives by the word.!
