Hey Everyone! I hope you enjoyed the service last night! I was a little disappointed that several of our regular attenders were not there, If you did not get to see that message last night, then ask me for the link and I will give it to you!

Hebrews 3

1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

This is such a cool passage! Do you remember Moses? What did He do? Well, if you remember, back in Exodus Moses lived in Egypt and he became the man that God used to free the jews from slavery in Egypt. Remember Moses telling the Pharaoh: LET MY PEOPLE GO!!!

It could be said that Moses was the "savior" of the jews!! Moses obeyed God and gave up his position in Egypt to become the savior of the people of Israel. Did you catch that?

Well there is a problem, when Christ came, the Jews had a rough time trusting that Jesus was the messiah, because they had different expectations. It was easier for them to look back at their great great great great... grandparents and trust in Moses as savior than it was for them to look ahead and accept Christ.

This passage was written to show them that they have a better savior that Moses, and His name is Jesus Christ. Moses did nothing for the jews of that day, nor does moses do anything for the Jews of today... But they still give Him glory. Hebrews 3 makes it clear that WE HAVE A BETTER SAVIOR THAN MOSES! He freed some from bondage, our Savior, Jesus Christ frees all who will accept Him!!

It is easy to see some of the illustrations that are taught here: When you see an incredible house, you don't think: "Good Job House, You are Incredible" NO! That is silly! You think: "Good Job Builder that house is incredible!"

In the same way, we should not respect persons and look at them and think about how incredible they are in and of themselves... No, we should look at greatness and thank God for it. We must glorify the builder not the building!

The lesson is this: It is so easy to glorify, love, worship, the things of this life... girlfriends, boyfriends, tv shows, internet, iPhones :), but the fact is that we should not worship our possessions, or our "people" Instead we should glorify and worship the ultimate creator... our savior!!! Jesus Christ!

This passage is pretty cool because it reminds us where our reverence should truly lie. Not in Peter, or Paul, or any of the apostles, or Moses. Although these all were great Men who spoke wisdom and taught God's Love we've got to remember that the High Priest of our profession, the single most important thing in a Christians life is Jesus. Verse 6 is kind of shifting responsibility over to the new generation. We are the house, we are the body, we have to hold fast to the confidence and rejoicing of hope until the end!
Thrice has a song about this verse I believe I'll post it in a minute. Have to restart the computer.

I thought the Jewish people believed that their savior or messiah was still to come. They believed Mo- was only a savior but not Messiah. I just relized that when I was writing. They DO still believe Messiah is to come, but just Moses was their greatest savior so far; so they say......

this is really simple, we should worship the Creator not the creation. we sometimes don't give God the credit we should, after all He did create the universe and mankind. so when we sometimes look at something really awsome and think that the person that created it did an amazing job, we should next time think that God created the person that created that really amazing thing so God did a really amazing job. we should thank God for more things than we do because after all without Him we wouldn't be here right now.

Worship God for everything that you have in life. No one else has the glory but God himself.
