Proverbs 13
1 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. 20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
There are several great verses in this passage!
Ever heard verse 20 before? LAST NIGHT MAYBE!!!!!
I will say it again: He that walks with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed! Who are your friends? Are you walking down a path to wisdom or a path to destruction?
Verse 24 is neat... not for kids though!! God says if you do not punish your children then you do not love them like you should. OUCH!
VERSE 13: WOW! Whoso despiseth the word SHALL BE DESTROYED!!! We should not despise Gods word, but instead we should search it and love it!!!
Also: ONLY BY PRIDE COMES CONTENTION!!! That is some powerful stuff... the only way that an argument will ever happen is when pride is involved. If you take the low road and show humility then you will not have arguments!! TRY IT!
God help me to do these things!!

No problem Pastor Lee! It's my pleasure.
13 "Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded."
This verse applys to everyone, the first half to the lost, and the last part to us. 85 percent of kids in secular high schools, like PCHS, hate going to church and hate the bible. Why? Not a clue. but if they hate the word they will be destroyed. They need Jesus! You know how we know this fact? BECAUSE WERE IN THE WORD! If you hate the word, then you just destroying youself by sending youself to Hell.

Pastor Lee i didn't know how to do this until now, and i don't really know what i'm doing . But its worth a try. Verse 9 sais ...
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
I like this verse , because its saying that if you head in a righteous path , that you will rejoice , but if your sinning and not being a Cristian that you will be put out. Now i don't know if being put out refers to heaven and hell, but im guessing it does.
Do you think we can get a ride on Sunday pastor Lee. My mother can't give us a ride because last Sunday she was almost late to church.
Michael is right that verse 13 applies to everybody. Whoever despises the world will be destroyed which I think doesn't mean if you hate the Earth you are dead but if you hate God you are dead. If you fear the commandments you will be rewarded is basically saying if you believe that God is the one and you fear him you will go to heaven for eternity.
if you have wise friends and walk with them youll be wise you should have wise friends and be wise...but if you have unwise friends your most likely to be unwise
*************!BE WISE!*************
basically we need to surround ourselves with goodpeople like good christians
if we walk with the wicked well be just like them
ive been "cuttin the fat" so to speak
i sat there in algebra ll after someone really makin me mad &i thought bout who my real friends are
only to realize that i dont really have that many people i can call my true friends like pastor lee was talkin bout last night
so...surround yourself with good people
So, here it says more than once that if you fear and follow Gods word, you will be rewarded; even though it can get reallyy tough.
I need to believe that more because i have a lot of trouble keeping positive when rough times come around.
But when i really think about it, those hard times are reassuring in a way, because if everything was so easy, it would mean that i was going with the flow of the world, which is much worse than struggling a little for God!
i need to be reminded that everything hard to resist that i overcome, i will be rewarded for overcoming one day.
HAHAHAHAHAHA Pastor Lee remember in your first house here in the area how you told jeff and brian that Only by pride cometh contention. You know since they always destroy you in halo, and then just to remember it since contention was too big of a word for brian they said only by pride comes coagulation. Ahhhh good times good times. Well apparently after reading verse 24 I just learned that my dad hates me since he doesn't beat me with a rod. JK. he loves me I know but he just isn't listening to christian parenting 101, and personally I say THANK GOD or at least for that whole rod thing. Oh well I is tired and GTG so.......
BYE-BEE
one verse that I like and have heard a lot is verse 20-he that walks with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed-meaning the people you hang around with are the people that will ifluence you the most. if you hang around wise people then you will be wise and God will bless you for that, but if you hang around foolish people then you will be foolish and be destroyed and get farther away from God in the relationship you have with Him. another verse that I liked was verse 24-he that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes-meaning when you have kids if you don't punish them then you hate your children, but if you do punish them then you love them and God. so choose your friends wisely and when or if you have kids don't let them get away with everything, punish them when they need it.
Ok, so i have been avoiding the simple facts for a long time. It is so easy to get caught up in material things. The last few weeks have really been a reality check for me. For so long i have been devoted academically, while ignoring the word all together. It is so simple to log on and give God 15 minutes of your time, which i plan to do. On top of this i feel like this is also a good time to get involved based on the text being disscused. The last few Wed. nights have been significant for me, your influences truly do impact your life. --> 20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.<-- This verse is so true. Although no one is perfect, myself of course being included we can avoid being invloved in foolish acts by simply avoiding association with foolish people. It seems to be such an obvious answer, but the process is rather difficult, especially for those of us who are already associated with the foolish. I personally am dealing with this, and i feel a lifestyle change will come with a change in friends. This is why i have always been apprehensive to dive into it all. I have felt too convicted lately to let this simple change prevent me from some of the most important descions of my life. I already feel burdens being lifted, and although it is certainly a long path i know it is the right path. Being surrounded by the right people and the right priorities results in a much more fullfilling feeling. Rather than being in places you shouldnt be, and dont want to be, because of the negative influences in your life. This all can be refered to--> 25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want<-- The life of a sinner is never fullfilling. It may bring immediate satisfaction, but no happiness, no joy. Only God can bring true joy and happiness. As a teen, i hope to never loose sight of that, and lead a life of happiness and joy, without the negative influences of life putting burdens on your shoulders.
WOW! I have had the most rushed day at school in the history of my life!!! I had essays, quizzes, Florida writes test, articles, and powerpoints due in all my classes today!!! Not fun at all... These teachers need to get together and plan sometimes!!! Also I had tons of homework including making crossword puzzles and 2 300 word essays due tomorrow much more too but I will stop there!!! Sorry I couldnt come tonight Pastor Lee, after school i had volleyball and then homework after that! deep breath... okay
anyways Im glad i made time for my devotions! the verse I liked the most was verse 20. This means that we should walk with wise people and doing this we will be wise but if we walk with the fools we will be destroyed. We need to choose our friends wisely so that we dont get caught up in messes even if we think we are to good for that stuff. The bible is telling us this and its the truth so dont hang with the wrong crowd, hang with the good Godly friends and people!! There is much more to learn from this passage but this stuck out to me the most, even though we have talked about this several times. Well I have to go and finish the REST of my Homework... c yall later! bye for now
I am sure glad i don't despise the Bible, i don't want to be destroyed!!! your right Pastor Lee, WOW!!!! Srry i didn't come on the movvie makin night thingy, i had soccer practice. i gtg but i will be on tomorrow! :-) See ya!!!
