You do not know what an encouragement each of you are to me for being so faithful!!

Proverbs 10

1 The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, But righteousness delivers from death.
3 The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish, But He casts away the desire of the wicked.
4 He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7 The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot.
8 The wise in heart will receive commands, But a prating fool will fall.
9 He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known.
10 He who winks with the eye causes trouble, But a prating fool will fall.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.
13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding, But a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding.
14 Wise people store up knowledge, But the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city; The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 The labor of the righteous leads to life, The wages of the wicked to sin.
17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, But he who refuses correction goes astray.
18 Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool.
19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.
22 The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
23 To do evil is like sport to a fool, But a man of understanding has wisdom.
24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy man to those who send him.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish.
29 The way of the LORD is strength for the upright, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.
30 The righteous will never be removed, But the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, But the perverse tongue will be cut out.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

There is a lot of great infromation in this passage! Think about the very first verse! A wise son makes his parents proud but a foolish son (or daughter) brings shame, disapointment and frustration to the hearts of their parents! Which one are you?

Do you break your parents heart by your actions or do you make their heart joyful??

I also love verse 12. THINK ABOUT THIS: LOVE COVERS ALL SINS!!!!!

The love of Christ led Him to the cross so that he would die on the cross and "cover all our sins".

Are there people in your life whom you need to forgive? Well, you must choose to love them and to love God. By doing these two things you show the love of God to the people around you.

I am sure their are people in your life that have hurt you in some way... well you need to love them in spite of their offence... After all: CHRIST LOVED YOU IN SPITE OF YOUR SINS!!! HE COVERED YOUR SIN IN SPITE OF THE WAY YOU AND I HAVE OFFENDED HIM!!!

We must allow love to cover sin in the relationships around us...

Also: much of this passage speaks about the words of our mouth... we need to make sure that our words prove us to be wise!!! Dont speak with foolish words!!

23 "To do evil* is like sport* to a fool*, But a man of understanding has wisdom."

Verse 23 caught my attention. If you go to secular schools, you know where I'm coming from for what I'm about to say. Have you ever seen how the kids in school speak? They think cursing is a game! They apply in this verse because their fools* for thinking that doing evil* is a sport*. Evryone likes sports, right? Just as the ungodly thinks cursing is a sport, they think having a filty mouth is fun.

A man who truly understands what is going on, they have wisdom. We have wisdom because we know what sins are going around us, and we know their consequences.

Michael you are majorly right!
People have, like, curse-offs when theyre not even angry; they make fun of it. I dont get it :/

i like verse 20; the tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little.
Thats a lot like many people i know that say cursing is a habit and too hard to quit.
Really, thats what makes a clean mouth so valuable; Its the fact that with all of the nastiness we hear from other peoples mouths today, we have to be so careful at what we hear frequently because if it desensitizes us, its hard to recover from.
I know for me, its constantly floating around in my head; dont laugh at curses! remember that foul speaking is NOT entertainment!
Keeping a clean mouth the absolute best i personally can goes along with that.
It will definitely be harder to keep a clean mouth myself if im always listening to what comes out of the sinful ones.
Its almost impossible in places like my school, and pretty much anywhere, to totally shut ourselves away from it, so i should just be careful of what i accept out of others mouths so that i can keep mine safe.

I know I'm definitely a wise son, but the real question is which one is Marvin??????

I like verse 17 "He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, But he who refuses correction goes astray." This reminds me of a verse I talked about a few days ago when it said that "For whoso findeth me findeth life". These two verses connect because if you find God then you've found life and in verse 17 instruction means God. Without God we can't have life which means that we're spiritually dead and are on our way to hell, but with Him we are able to enjoy the rewards that He set out for us as we have found life.

one verse that I liked was verse 27-the fear of the Lord prolongs day, but the years of the wicked will be shortened-meaning if you fear God and obey Him and live for Him then you will live a longer life, but if you live a wicked or bad life then your life will be shorter. also I noticed that a lot of these verses had something to do with they way we talk or words. well if the way we talk has something to do with who we are and being an example for God then we should be talking good things all the time, or atleast not say bad things. that reminds me of something my dad always says to me, if your not going to say something nice to somebody then don't say anything at all. we need to be an example for God and one way we can do that is with our words.
