Hey Everyone! Yesterday was such a fun day! I enjoyed doing the freedom swim, going out to eat with my family, and watching the fireworks with over 35 people from our church at Laishley park! It was a great day! Katie, Jill, and Jessica Staley made the news both on NBC and ABC... and My foot and leg made the news too! Cool Huh!

A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Thanks for all the "Happy Birthdays" yesterday! It was a great birthday thanks to many of you!
Jeff: You are crazy! You are like... "Josh if you died I would probably cry" Unbelievable!

Marvin:It is good to know that you love your brother! :) Good application yesterday!
Grace: We will miss you very much! Hurry back! I had fun yesterday too! I am glad we got to hang out with all you guys!!
Jon: Hey man! I agree, the fireworks were just ok, but the fellowship was a real "bang"! Ha!! :) I crack myself up, like a firecracker! :) I am on a roll!!
Jessica M: Hey girl, I hope that you had fun last night! I wish they had used the money that they spent on fireworks to build you a new school... Nevermind! I enjoyed the fireworks!!! :)

John 11:39-44
38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”
40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”
43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”
44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Ok, so this is the climax of the story that we have been looking at for the last few days. Jesus comes to the tomb. When it says that He is groaning within himself, it does not mean that He is Hungry!! It means that He has a broken heart!

Verse 39 Jesus tells the people to move the stone off the front of the tomb, and Guess what Martha says. (This is so great) She says: "Um... Jesus listen, His body has begun to decompose and it really STINKS!! You do not want them to open up that tomb!!!

Then Jesus tells Martha, Didnt I tell you to have faith and then you would see AMAZING things...?

In Verse 42 we see Jesus praying to the Father, publically! Why? To be a testimony to God! Do you pray publically? so that people can see you praying and know that you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ!

Verse 43 has the incredible statement from Christ. As He speaks here on earth, and He is heard all the way to Heaven where Lazarus was probably just getting use to things up there... Lazarus heard Christ and instantly came back into His body, and came alive.

The very next scene is this "mummy like" man, walking out of the tomb. That must have been so freaky! Think about that, He was dead one moment and alive the next! Just like us! We were dead in our sins, and Christ gave us eternal life! What a great God we serve!

I think that if I could go back and watch any miracle that Christ did, this would be the one I would choose! I would love to look at Mary and Marthas face whenever they saw Lazarus walking out of the tomb! It would be so cool to watch this miracle and know that it happened because of Marthas faith!!

What does God want to do in our life, BECAUSE OF OUR GREAT FAITH IN HIM! I guarantee you that God wants to do something GREAT!

This is so awsome how Jesus shows us an example of faith in action. I too would have loved to see the peoples faces, wow. Going back to what pastor Lee said about praying in public. It is a great testimony to God. A simple prayer in public like at a resturant or something not only can be a great testimony, but also a great encourgment to some one in a time of need.(you never know who is watching)
Everyone have a great and safe weekend, see ya sunday........

Hey everyone,

I can remember teachers in church teaching this story since I was about six or seven. Some might think it would get old but it gets better all of the time.

Pastor Lee has already made some great comments regarding praying in public, Jesus' response to our faith, and the incredible power Jesus demonstrated in this miracle.

In addition, I might add that it is very stunning to me to see Jesus so human that he can be groaning one minute and so much God that he can command the trillions of cells in Lazarus decaying body to reverse rigor mortis, stop decaying, and come back to life.

The fact that Jesus, the Mighty Creator, would lower Himself to hurt like us is humbling. The fact that He could raise Lazarus is encouraging because it means that He will be able to raise me from the dead (and give me hair again!) But I'm still holding out for the Rapture.

It also struck me that sometimes God asks us to do things which make no sense to us just like moving the stone in front of the tomb made no sense to Martha or anyone else. We should do what the Lord tells us to do in His Word whether we or anyone else understands why knowing that we will see "the glory of God" (vs. 40) and it will bring glory to God.

Peace out!

If I were Lazarus I would kind of be upset that Jesus brought me back to life. Going from Heaven to earth would be a let down. But I'm sure he missed his sisters. And Jesus did it so people could see God's power. It's cool how this story could of changed if Martha didn't have faith in Jesus. We need to have faith in Jesus because then great things can happen in our lives!

I have 2 questions Pastor Lee. 1. If I want to go to the Wilds with you guys can I just give u $275 or do I have to sell the cards? and 2. Whenever Jesus got Laz up from the dead after He unraveled him was Laz all gross like a dead guy or was he like regular?

Ok devo time!!
That would be so freaky to watch a once like 5 minutes ago dead guy rise from the dead and walk out of his tomb!! This is like my favorite miracle. Jesus could let miracles happen in our lives if we have the faith and trust for Christ.

Personally I would like to see when Jesus walked on water because thats the first miracle that actually made me say wow the guy might actually be legit, but I think this miracle was without a doubt one of the most powerful miracles that Jesus performed because He showed that He could really do anything. If anybody still had any doubt about Jesus after that miracle they would have had to be crazy. When Jesus prayed publically He showed everyone around Him that He wasn't afraid to do anything because I know most people wouldn't get down on both knees in a crowd and pray to God. It would take a lot of courage for most of us to do that, but Jesus didn't think twice about it. So in that story He didn't only show believed 110% that He was the son of God by praying in public, but He proved it to by performing what was thought to be impossible raising someone from the dead. It's definitely a good thing that God saved us from the dead that is sin.

Yesterday was so fun it was cool having the whole [PN] crew there but yeah the fireworks were really loud and the swim thing was so hard unless your Gareth and swam the whole thing in 35 minutes wow, hes good at everything!

Wow this passage is so cool Jesus by asking his father brought a dead man to life! he did this so that the people would believe he was that son of God. Ok if you saw a man revive a dead man back to life and he said that he was the son of God wouldn't you believe him because thats amazing! The people didn't believe that he could do this because Lazarus' body was already stinking and gross ewwww! But with the help of his father he brought Lazarus back to life. Jesus is that amazing and he is the son of God. He died for us so that we could live in heaven.

I think what was so completely awesome about this passage is how much Jesus cares for the average person. He raised Lazarus from the dead- WOW! Lazarus wasn't a king or a ruler or anything special, but Jesus Christ loved him enough to do this huge miracle. That is amazing! Jesus Christ loves us that much, and wants to do miracles in our life just like this. We just need to be willing to let Him work.

The CLIMAX of the story Pastor Lee? ughh! That reminds me of English class :( hahaha
Hope you had a fab. b-day!
I hope you weren't too nervous about turning 46! hehehehe sry I had to.

Anyway, in these passages we finally see the great miracle of God happen amazingly. He raised someone from the dead! WOW! But not only do we see the awesome miracle performed by Christ but we also see that faith plays a huge role in this whole story. Jesus' love for Lazarus and his sisters teaches us that our faith in God even in the trouble times, needs to be grounded. I think that in Lazarus's miracle we see the great victory that God has over death.
We need to learn to take Christ's word, and rely on his power and faithfulness and than we will truly see happiness in our lives.

Ok so i dont really know how 2 apply this 2 my life but im gonna try so Jesus did another AMAZING MIRACLE and this one was a doozy and i think that Martha didnt have much faith that Jesus was gonna pull through on wat he said he was gonna do but we need 2hav faith even though it might not happen when we want it 2 or when we expect it 2.

So the pharisees didn't want to look like fakes and lose there power. so they wanted to kill Jesus so that no one would follow him and they would have it all. they wanted to do this all because Jesus rose Lazarus from the dead by just 3 words! "Lazarus, COME FORTH!" could you imagine seeing that!

well this starts out by Jesus walking toward the tomb and Jesus said to roll away the stone covering the tomb. then martha says to Jesus that since lazarus has been dead for 4 days he is going to stink, and Jesus says did you not come here to see me do a miracle. then the people move the stone away from the tomb and Jesus starts praying to God publicly to show everybody that He still prays to God too. after He prays He says "lazarus come forth", and after that a mummy-like figure comes out of the dark tomb with cloth all over his body and Jesus tells the people to take the cloth off. wow thats an amazing story. if that were me and i didn't believe Jesus before He did this miracle then after He did this i would definentally believe in Him. so we need to ALWAYS believe in Jesus because He can and does do amazing things in our lives, and He only does miniscule things in our lives compared to raising the dead back to life like lazarus. so always put our trust in God and He will never let us down.
