I hope that you were able to come and be a part of the great time that we had yesterday at SunSplash. It was very exciting! Stay involved, because we are a busy Youth Group!
We are doing some reward events next week so stay faithful in the WORD!
The next BIG event that we will be going to is SUMMER CAMP at The Wilds!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited and I know that YOU are going to have a REMARKABLE time!
A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Josh L: To answer the quetion you asked at the end of your comment... Oh, So Much!!!
Jeff: You have to talk to the President about it... President Jessica
Cary: Nice Job on the FLIPS yesterday!
IN K C UR Wondering: Were you SO TIRED because of a water park yesterday???
Marvino: DUDE! Dont forget to type out the APPLICATION. That is the most important part!! and Tell Kervin to: "DO YOUR DEVOTIONS.... DOT COM!"
My Two Cents: Since I do not know who you are... and you are going to the Wilds, you need to ride in my van and I will figure out who you are! Deal? Great Job on the devotions by the way... I am pretty sure that "the Glorify" part that you had a question aboutbasically means that God has been glorified in the past... Creation, Protection, and Faithfulness in the O.T., and He will be Glorfied in the N.T. ( I am not positive, but I will look it up and let you know)
Teer-E-AL and Jonathan Massey: Hey guys! I am burnt' as well! It is not fun AT ALL! What is the deal with the sunscreen lotion not working at all!
John 12:
42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.
45 And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.
46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
47 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
49 For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”
This is a cool passage and there is a lot of great truth in it! However, I am going to place my focus on the first two verses. This gives a message that is COMPLETELY APPLICABLE in our lives today! Verse 42 begins by explaining that MANY people, including rulers truely DID BELIEVE that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, but because they were scared of man, they DID NOT ACCEPT CHRIST, and therefore did not gain eternal life.
The passage explains it pretty clearly, but I will restate it, to avoid any possible question... It says that many wise men did not accept Christeven though they believed in Him... and the reason why was because they did not want the Pharisees to kick them out of the synagogue (the church).
So here is the application: READ CLOSELY: Who in your life is keeping you from living for the Lord? Who are you afraid to tell that you are a Christian?
When you see someone doing something WRONG in youth group, at the mall, at home, at school, what keeps you from taking a stand for Christ? Do You Love The Praise of Men More Than The Praise of God? Do you want the accceptance of Men or a relationship with God?
I would say that this is something that MANY TEENAGERS struggle with... but I would be wrong. The Truth is... This is something EVERYONE struggles with... Trying to please man, instead of God.
We must seek to please our creator, our savior, our sustainer, not some selfish man who truely cares nothing about my soul! Focus on the Lord not man! Live in obedience to the Lord! Not man.
What a powerful challenge! What are some ways that you have feared man more than God?

hello!!!!! today i will start by saying ooooouuuccchhhh(ouch) because of the mjor sunburn i got yesterday i put sunblock on 4 times and it did NOT work!!i am blistering:(,but i had fun.
okay so in this passage what really stuck out to me was the verse that says "And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world." i just think that that is amazing. if i were jesus i would probably get a little frustrated and say some stuff i would regret.
oh and btw did everyonesee australia on our map that is my friend savannah!!!! thanks savannah!!!
wow.... OUCH!!!!!!!!! I ONLY PUT SUNBLOCK ON 1NCE AND IM PAYIN 4 IT 2DAY. SOMEONE CALL ME 4 DEVO PARTNER!!!!!!!!! (941) 979-7697.
DEVOS:
SO BASICALLY WHAT GOD IS SAYING THROUGH THIS WHOLE PASSAGE IS THAT IF ANYONE HEARS HIS VOICE, THEY NEED TO FOLLOW HIS VOICE FOR THAT IS THE VOICE OF THE MAN THAT COMES TO SAVE THE WORLD!!!!!!!!
Brooke: yeah I'll be your partner I don't see why I can't have another. Although I don't have your #.
Pastor Lee: you do know that there is such thing as brown and yellow rice right. You used sun TAN lotion yesterday with SPF8. I HAD TO REMIND YOUR PARTNER TO DO HIS DEVOS!!!!!!!!!!
Alex: DO YOUR DEVOTIONS!!!!!!
so on to the actual devo part. Wow even the rulers are afraid of the pharisees. I swear these guys are wimps just because they would get thrown out of a church that is not even teaching the word of god they don't want to confes of gods word. We need to not be like these people in the past at all and get up and witness to others. Just like how one time some kid tried to witness to me in walmart. We need to have that kids courage and not care what others think because god will love us for doing our best for him.
These days thier are a couple Christians that are rebeling against God and trying to make it through life their own way. If one of my family members is doing that, I will tell them my experiences and try to make them stay close with God. But if it's other people I don't really talk to, I don't. I don't know why. It's probably because I am comfortable with my family and not afraid to get on their bad side. I guess to do what God wants me to do I have to go out of my comfort zone. That's going to be very hard, but I know that God will give me courage, (:
PASTOR LEE:i still need my cord & plugy thing...
JOSH L...i give u my number later...ill call u...after givin my # on the comp ONCE, i had sum FREAK stalkin me & the whole 9yds...so yeah...
EVERYONE:check out my redneck blog thing...r u smarter than a 5th grader blog is comin soon
most of these verses r rather self explainitory...(christ speaking from what hes haeard from his father)
but the 1st 2 verses r what stuck out 2 me the most...ive noticed even tho that most of us r believers...we tend 2 try 2get thru life our own way or are gocused on pleasin man insteada christ...somethin as simple as the way u dress is an ex of that...like when u HAVE 2 have the latest trends cuz u dont wanna look like a tard & get made fun of...
i know we all have people who influence us good/bad...& thats sumthin we gotta watch out 4...i learned this lesson early on a few weeks ago(letting go of the bad ones)i let Lizzy go & consumed myself w/amanda who's SUCH a great influence...
PROVERBS 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
I know i have problems still sometimes w/who i surround myself w/but ive done sooo much better by tellin em what's what & sayin goodbye...its hard yea...but i got over it & so can u...
lately w/the people ive said goodbye 2, i havent had a problem w/tellin em im a christian & all the stuff im goin thru & that they're bringin me down...but BEFORE...i was TERRIFIED 2 even say that i go 2 youth group on wed when they asked what my plans were 4 wed.NOT ANYNORE=]
so God'll give u the strength u need...like Kacey said, its a bit easier 2 deal w/fam...but ya gotta move outside ur comfort zone...
APPLICATION:continue 2 say goodbye 2 man & bad influences, & consume myself w/good influence & please Christ
49 "For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”
When I read these verses, I think of missionaries. They go to the ends of the earth, as God commanded them and speak on God's authority. Wow! If God commands us to say something to somebody, we shouldn't be scared because God will give us the words to say. Just obey God, and He will speak through you. However, we also need to do our part and learn the word of God so we can talk to people about God. If we know nothing about God's word,or who He is, we can't expect God to make us an expert on the subject. It's like asking God to help you do well on a test at school, but you never open the book to study! We have to do your part, and God will use you to reach others. God does not call the qualified, God qualifies the called.
uhm, i think you guys are just not good at sunscreen putting-on-ing cause im not burnt one bit!
im being rushed to hurry up tpo leave, so ill be back when im home to do my devos ((:
Wow then she will definitely say no! jk but thats ok I'm already in a group [PN] but you guys can join my I don't care but you have to learn a back flip! Oh and yesterday was fun sry to all you people who got sunburnt :( ]
This is saying that people believed in Jesus but did not say it out loud because the Pharisees would get mad at them. they did not allow this because they loved their power that they got and now its going to Jesus but jesus said that they should not believe in me but God who sent me. He then goes to say that he came to save the world being the light of the world so no one would have to live in darkness and not to judge because only GOD can judge and will you judge you in the end. He who believes in me will be saved and given everlasting life. Jesus came as a messenger of God to tell what he wants and to save the world from evil things.
Jesus is explaining how He came to save the world not judge it. He says that if somone hears the word and doesnt accept Christ than He will not judge them. We need to give everyone that chance to accept Him so we need to go out and witness to people.
Just wanted to say I had a great time and enjoyed myself and my little monkeys also had a great time. Thanks for letting us tag along! I enjoyed getting to know some of the youth. Hope to get to know the rest of you also. You have a great group of youth Pastor Lee, and keep up the good work!
When I read your question "Who in your life is keeping you from living for the Lord?" I thought about a couple people I used to know. Nobody kept them from living for the Lord except themselves and I know that God hates hypocrites more then non-believers. This passage applies to my life by helping me understand that more and more people would rather sacrifice for man then for God. To me that's and absurd thing to do (but we do it anyways) because at the end of the day man may have sacrificed a little food, or maybe some money, but God sacrificed has the ultimate thing by letting His one and only son take away our sins. To me the passage says that Jesus is letting everyone know that it's God not Him that is truly in power by stating over and over again that whatever He does it isn't Him, but He who sent Him. It also says that Jesus is only here to help and will cause no harm at all.
When Jesus says that whoever hears my word and doesn't believe I will not judge I know that he knows what will happen. Even though I am not Jesus if someone heard me say something important and did not believe me I would be really mad.
:(
this starts out by Jesus saying that many people including the pharasies believed in Him but didn't accept Him because they were more conserned about letting the pharasies (man) down instead of God. then He goes on to say he who believes in Me and sees Me also sees and believes in the Father, and that He is the light of the world and everyone that believes in Him should not walk in darkness. then He goes on to say that He didn't come to the world to judge people for not believing in Him because He came to the world to DIE FOR US...WOW,and that the Word will judge them in the last days. finally He goes on to say that whatever the Father says He will speak, so pretty much Jesus is God's messenger to the world. so what we need to do is believe in Jesus and not care about what other people think, and not care if we are letting man down because we shouldn't want to let God down, and that could be holding us back from God.
Pastor Lee,
Dont be so sure that I will be attending "your van" up to the wild's. Plus I know that there is more than one van going. Ball still in my court. You don't even know if im a guy or a girl, old or young, but I will say you do know me. Did you use water proof sun screen? I did not get burned at all.(is that a clue?)
on to the devo.
The rulers in this passage to me show a good example of religion and not a relationship with Christ. It's hard to come out of our comfort zone and take a stand for Jesus, but only we set the boundaries to that zone. With time and Gods help we can expand that zone to have endless boundries. I struggle with people that have athority over me. I seem to be a little intimadated by them on a spiritual level if there not a christian. I know, I have it backwards, but I am working on it. We as humans look for the first praise we can get, we are naturally hungry for it. I have struggled at times doing the right thing for the right reason. Staying in the word helps and asking God for power to overcome my weakness is a sure way to overcome any struggle.
Jesus continues to say God and himself are one in the same. I dont understand why some people don't believe Jesus was the son of God, maybe thats why Jesus says it over and over again.
I think in the last half Jesus is saying, look, this is what I have to say. You can like it or leave it, your choice, but if you choose not to accept me you will be judged in the last day. I am not saying this on My own authority, but my Fathe who sent me told me what to say.
Salt life, stay strong, and ask God to help push your boundaries a little farther each day. Its fun, you can actually watch your boundary move, and what was uncomfortable yesterday wont be tomarrow.
so my aunt JUST left my house. we had a stupid thing happen and it took forever to fix it so its pretty late.
i couldnt do devos earlier when i was on because i was being rushed out of my house. i had read them and everything and just as i was gonna type em; we had to leave...
ALSO; im pretty sure the "two cents" person is young, seeing as they incorrectly spelled a lottt and used the wrong meaning of a few words. (:
and if they are really an adult
-doubt it- im sorry for insulting their spelling skills, lol.
So, this is another devotion that makes me feel guilty, but im sure im not the only one.
A lot of the time, when im around something i dont necessarily think is right, i let people do their own thing and try to ignore it. And now i realize that it does affect me even when im not taking part. It can callous me to sin and harden my view of how wrong it really is. When you think about it, thats a lot worse than you think! Being callous to sin makes you also to the Lord. We need to stay malleable and open to what He wants to instill in us and we cant be as soft for Him when we are busy sheilding off the
ever-present bad.
Not only am i putting God aside when i do it, but im basically just pleasing man by sitting there in all that sin, and often giving them my approval by not rejecting it, when i know that to honor God i should abandon it.
So to not worry about mans opinion but to be more concerned with the glory of God is the hard part...ill try!
i think its so true how we try to please man instead of god. We dont stand up for God becaus we are in fear of being made fun of or being looked uppon like a freak. we shouldnt care though. we need to stand up for whats right and follow Jesus and tell others no matter what.
The rulers were scared of man kicking them out of the church for beleiving in Christ? Who cares! if you do get kicked out for beleiving go to a different church. Sometimes if someone sees another person do something wrong and they say something to them about it they get all mad and "mind your own business" and like in your face upset. But we should just talk to them about how that thing is wrong and how to make it right w/ God.
