Hey everyone! This week is very busy! Don't Forget that we are getting together tonight at 6:30p for a fun get together, pizza, and someone will spend a little bit of time talking to each of you guys about a Christian College! Make sure you are here!
A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Kacey: Thanks for coming last night! It meant a lot! Also, thank you for listeneing so well yesterday! Your explanation of the message yesterday is outstanding!
Josh L: I am glad that you have read som of that book, you MUST finish it! It is some REALLY GOOD STUFF! (I reccommend that any teenager that wants to do something great with their life, and not just WASTE their life, should read a book I have called DO HARD THINGS!)
Jon: Sorry for putting a downer on your life!
Jessica M: I must say, your song was INCREDIBLY INSPIRATIONAL!! :) Did you write that yourself????
Jeff: I love you man! Great Job! Stay with it!
John 12:1-8
1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.
2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.
3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,
5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.
7 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial.
8 For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”
So Jesus has now come back to Bethany where He had just raised Lazarus from the dead. When Jesus got there, Mary and Martha had a "dinner party" for Jesus. Can you imagine sitting there eating dinner with Mary, Martha, Jesus, The Disciples and Lazarus, who had just been raised from the dead. What a cool party that would have been!
Next we see Mary take her precious and expensive oil and begin to pour it upon Jesus' feet and wash His feet with her hair... Why did she use her hair? There could have been several reasons, but the one I believe is this: A womans hair is her glory... Have you seen how many HOURS and HOURS some of these girls spend fixing their hair... A womans hair is part of what makes her so beautiful! So Mary took the BEST THAT SHE HAD and used it to wash the feet of Jesus.
Now I know that some of you have problems with peoples feet... I think feet are cool, but for some weird reason I know there are many of you that get "grossed out" by feet... So think about this, Mary takes her beautiful hair, and her most expensive oil and uses them to wash the dirty, dusty feet of Jesus... She gave her absolute best to serve Christ! What have you given to serve Christ? Mary is a great example of giving her glory to God so that it could be used for His Glory!
Well, there is always a critic. Everyone is enjoying this beautiful moment of love and service until you hear Judas jump out there being critical... It you are critical of EVERYTHING... Don't Be! We See Judas ask this rediculous and SELFISH question... "Why are you wasting that oil, why don't you go and sell it and give it to the poor..."
I think it is interesting how we see Judas, try to look compassionate on the poor, but the fact is that He did not care about the poor, He wanted to take the money for himself... So literally He was thinking, DONT WASTE THAT OIL ON JESUS, SELL THE OIL AND I WILL TAKE THE MONEY!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Does anyone else see how rediculous that is?
WE DO THE SAME THING, when God has given us riches, talent, and abilities and we use them for OURSELVES instead of using them for God.
Jesus made it clear that it was good what Mary was doing... Giving her all to serve her Lord... Do you love Jesus like Mary did? Would you give your greatest glory, your greatest treasures to Jesus Christ?
If not... don't stress, As you get to know Jesus more, then you will love Him as much as mary did and THEN you will WANT to give Him everything you have. Stick with these devotions so that you can know HIM better!
Good Day To You All! :)

gotta go DMV license brb to finish in a while like an hour or 2!
well first i would like to say that i am sad!! why youi may ask because pastor lee didnt write what he thought about the passage and that is like the most inspiring part of my day!!!!! oh well that is okay.
back to the devotions, so in this passage we see jesus in bethany where lazarus had died and rose from the dead.then the next big thing we see is when mary put a pound of expensive oil all over jesus feet and then wiped them with her hair.talk about love, dedication and thankfulness!! then of course judas simons son says “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” then the next verse says basically that he didnt say this because he cares about the poor he said it because he is a greedy thief. jesus says next "leave her alone she has it for the day of my burial. For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”
that does not count josh i was first to actually do my devotions!!!
i spelt my name wrong WOW
Hey salt life whats up in the hezzy! I love you too Pastor Lee! I will be there a little early because mime is taking me.
So everyone is sitting down at the table and they r just talking and having fun. Martha comes and anoints Jesus' feet with very expensive oil and wipes it with her hair. I don't understand the meaning of this but i think its to show respect. Judas one of Jesus disciples that would later betray him said why don't we take this oil and sell it for the poor! Jesus then said that she has saved this for him. He says that the poor will be here forever while he will only be here for a short time. Plus what would selling the oil do anyways it wont save the world from being poor Jesus could save the world and thats what he did. She took the one thing that she had valuable and use it on Jesus. Just like God did he took his son the most perfect son his only son and killed him just so that we wont suffer in the end Wow what a merciful God!
That is pretty selfish of Judas!he was a theif & did a pretty good job at hidin it from the others...well not GOOD...but ya no what i mean...& jesus sees right thru it...
That woman gave THE BEST OF HER 2 Christ...& it does make sense(the whole hair thing)its like a grls pride & joy & they spend HOURS on it...
Anyways...while we may not have 2 rub ppls feet in oil w/our hair...we can still give the best of ourselves for the glory of God INSTEAD of 2glorify ourselves...
sorry i cant b there=[ my dad's takin sum classes at the station 2 get higher up & get his EMT license
hey Pastor Lee and everyone else guess what im on!!!!!Anyways this passage talks about how Mary poured(expensive)oil on Jesus feet and then wiped His feet with her hair. Then Judas (1 of His disciples)said "why was this fragrant oil not sold for 3 hundred denarii and given to the poor?" Then Jesus had said "let her alone;she has kept this for the day of my burial. For the poor you have with you always, but me you do not have always." Basically this passage is to help us think about how much we love Jesus and what we would do to show how much we love Him.
In this passage it talks about what happened about a week after Lazarus rose from the dead. He is wit Jesus at a feast. Mary puts oil on his feet and wipes it wit her hair.
The Redsox-Twins game is on and its kinda of a good game so it might not be that long. Okay so I believe that Mary wiping the feet of Jesus with her hair is a way to tell Jesus that she is thankful and will do anything for Him. I harldy have any hair and I probably would wipe the feet of Jesus with the little hair that I have. I think the selflishness of Judas showed when he said why wasn't the oil sold instead. I don't Judas cared at all about the poor, but was instead jealous of what Mary did. The people at that party were so cool (except for Judas) they should have had bouncers at the door.
this starts out buy Jesus going to a party with the disciples, mary and martha, and lazarus (which He had just raised from the dead. at the house during the party in the middle of everything mary goes over to Jesus and gets her most expensice fragrance (perfume stuff) and starts washing Jesus feet. during the washing of Jesus feet judas says something very selfish, he says why would you wash Jesus feet with that when you can sell it and give it to the poor, when really he was just saying that so he could get the money because he was going to end up stealing the money. so we need to do everything we can to glorify God and give back to God because He has done and is still doing so much for us. also don't be selfish like judas, especially to God.
Hey Kervin--the Red Sox WON!!
Mary's devotion to/if Jesus is an example for all of us to follow. We should give Him our best.
Mrs. W.
to/of Jesus--typo--ugh!
Mrs. W.
MALLORY NICHOLE BURTON!!!!!! YOU MADE IT!!! WHOO HOO
By the way P.L. I DID write that song...I'm goooood aren't I?? haha
......Mary has showed that she knows what is ultimately important in life; to give of her best, with all her heart, in a way of selfless love towards Christ. By giving all she had she was loving "just right."
Mary, I think used the oil because it was the purest gift she had. It also almost seemed like an act of "thank-you" for raising her brother from the dead. I guess I would do the same if that was Jonathan hahaha...maybe :)
Why would Judas object like he did? Mary is showing great love and respect toward Christ. But wait didn't Judas end up betraying Jesus?? OHHHH I get it :)
Mary takes on the wonderful ;) role as a slave by washing Jesus' feet and not like His head because that is lower I guess you could say!
Let's try to be more like Mary! Giving all you have to Jesus because He can and will use you for His glory!
Amen ;)
Good night to one and all
sweet so this lady loves Jesus so much that she washes is feet with her hair and i think this might show that maybe she was unclean spirtually and was trying to be washed with Jesus and i think its cool that Jesus is like yeah shes saving it for my barial its like wat ur predicting when ur gonna die thats sweet.
P.S. Ihad fun 2 night but wat hapended to every monday in July we would have a movie night.
lol kervin youre pretty much bald and not a girl so...
yeahh (:
i honestly think its be kind of grosssssss to
1.) put oil in my hair
2.) rub feet all in it
3.) let judas in my house
i dont really like feet so i dont know if id have done that but maybe jesus feet are a lot cleaner than man feet? idk what im talking about, anyways, Judas is awful. he reminds me of my moms ex husband.
and totally audacious to say what he said for the reasons that it was not only a lie, but an unneeded crtique on this womans way of serving Jesus there.
Not only should we try to be like Mary in how she gave her hardcore best (which idk if i could do) but we should try to NOT be like judas as greedy as he was, thinking of how he could reap from the gifts meant for Jesus. We should give our best to Him and never try to keep it as benefit to ourselves.
Ok so yea man cool passage about some people very dedicated to christ. First off this party must have been sweet but I think when we get togther and fellowhsip in the lord's name we get a piece of this. I know that some of the greatest times I have had were with a youth group or at suncoast in jesus' name. The bible says where two or more gather in his name He is there. So anyway my point there is lets not take fellowship for granted. Oh I read the little blurb about a book do hard things? Well about that I dunno I guess I kind of needed to see that because here at drum corps sometimes I think what im doing is wasting time but ultimately im challenging myself and I've become part of THE BEST hornline in the world at the moment. And if nothing else I need to do what I do for the glory of god. Its really hard here too because it feels like a large fraternity a lot of garbage around me as far as what people say and do and its especially hard not to do what everybody else is doing so pray for me guys in that area. Anyway back to the passage so the oil and hair washing feet really shows us how little we are willing to do for christ. In my position its simply standing strong and being in the world but not of it. More specifically in drum corps not of it lol. Anyway so im real sorry I rambled I don't get to talk often. Bye guys pastor lee ill try to call you soon or you call me or text me anytime id like to actually hear what's going on in the suncoast ministry or just life lol. Its 941 421 8947
The last part of what PL said - "Have you given your greatest treasures to the Lord?" My greatest treasures are my children. Yes, I gave them to the Lord a long time ago and look what all He has done with their lives - and I have been blessed by God in return for this offering to Him. And now the Holy Spirit speaks to me and says - "What do you think I could do - if you would just give me EVERYTHING!" Wow! What a thought. Lord - Make me give You my everything each moment of my days!
~PLMA
Sorry Sorry Sorry Between all the parties, hanging with the youth group, doing chores, and getting my license I totally lost track of my day and forgot my devotions.
Man if it weren't for the fact Jesus was using Judas for his master plan then I would so totaly want to pile drive/body slam/stab/poison/shoot him many many times. That is not the point though what I believe is the most important is when mary gave her most precious possesion and annointed jesus with it.
HEYY!
So I think it is amazing that someone would love someone so much they would rub there hair on...dirty feet!
Sorry but NOT ME! and I agree with Brooke that was selfish of Judas to want all the money to himself!!
Here we see that Mary gave her very best to serve Jesus. She had very expensive perfume and poured it on His feet and then washed it with her hair. I don't think that I would do that. That's what's so cool about it, she wouldn't do that to anyone else but Jesus. Because He does deserve our all. And Then we have Judas, who is selfish and critical. He wants her to take the perfume, and sell it so he can steal it. Bottom line, we should be like Mary and not Judas.
If I was at that dinner I would be kinda scared still of Laz coming up from the grave. I would think he's like a ghost or something! Would you do something like taking your hair and washing someones feet with it, would you do that for Jesus? I would for all He's done 4 me! YEAh!! The people around were angry @ Mary because she could have sold that expensive perfume and gotten alot of money for it. But instead of that she takes it and uses it for Jesus. Its like our lives do we sell our lives into sin or do we use it for Jesus? She gave her most precious possesion to Jesus.
