I Chronicles 15:1-3,25-29
Pastor Lee:
This is a very interesting passage with many obvious truths. First let me explain what the ark is for those of you who may not know. The Ark of the Covenant was a beautiful container that represented the covenants that God had made with the people. Inside this box were the ten commandments and a few other biblical items. When a nation or a family had the box, they had "the glory of God" in other words, they were able to experience the reality of God in a wonderful way.
Here is where this gets personal, The people in this passage were so excited about being near the presence of God, that they dressed their best, and they were celebrating like you wouldnt believe. They were shouting, dancing, singing, and rejoicing over this symbol that proved, God was with them.
I think many times, we come to church, (to see God) and we arent excited at all, or if we are excited, it is all for the wrong reasons. We may come totally excited because we get to spend time with our friends, totally overlooking the fact that we are going to spend time with our savior, our God.
Maybe we need to ask God to halp make us more excited about being in His presence.
By the way, that last part; about the lady despising David: you will always have opposition when you try to do what is right!
1 David built houses for himself in the City of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.
2 Then David said, “No one may carry the ark of God but the Levites, for the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister before Him forever.”
3 And David gathered all Israel together at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place, which he had prepared for it.
25 So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-Edom with joy.
26 And so it was, when God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bulls and seven rams.
27 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music master with the singers. David also wore a linen ephod.
28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets and with cymbals, making music with stringed instruments and harps.
29 And it happened, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the City of David, that Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David whirling and playing music; and she despised him in her heart.

what in the world is an ephod. so you got david and he says that those levites are the only dudes that can carry the arc (you know the arc of the covenant kinda reminds me of Halo). really i have no idea what it truly could mean but what i get out of this is some guys carry a large box someplace and then are happy. these people are so happy they sacrifice a large amount of animals unto the lord. so they enter the city of david and SAUL'S DAUGHTER, the daughter of a man that tried to kill david, saw david and despised him a lot. so thats all in a nutshell.
I see that when the people had the covenant; proof and physical presence of their God, they treated as if it was Him and really got fired up about it. We presently dont have that 'item' but should be just as excited if our belief is strong. Ive been assumed by people who see how often i go to church that i probably dont go for the right reasons or cant possibly really want to because they have a bad outlook on it, and ive also been told its because i want to look good. i laughed really hard, i thought that was dumb. But truly, we should alwaysss be excited to be able and in the presence of God; speciafically at church but in other ways we are open to it as well. I think that getting to a certain point of opening up to it and letting God direct you, spending time with Him is truly ...refreshing? lol couldnt find a word, but obviously its great :] and i think thats really the best way to appreciate it.
