John 6:1-14
1 After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias.
2 Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased.
3 And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.
4 Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near.
5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”
6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.
7 Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,
9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”
10 Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.”
13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
14 Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
This is a great story that most of us are familiar with. This is the story when Jesus fed over 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish. There are so many GREAT lessons in this story. I wil list a few.
1. The boy was willing to give all that he had tp Jesus so that Jesus could turn it into something outstanding. Think about it: If the boy would have been selfish then he would have hid what he had for himself, but instead, he was willing to let God make something great out of His life. To the extent that we are talking about Him on a blog over 2,000 years later. God wants to use each of you in the same way that He used this little boy.
-Maybe a thousand years from now (if Christ has not returned) people will talk about the great things that God did through you on an IHTC. (Integrated Holographic Telecommunication Core) Sell out to God and let Him use you for Greater things that you can dream of!!
2. God can take the little things that we have and turn it into much bigger things!
3. God will always take care of our needs when we follow Him. Probably over 10,000 people (because it says there were 5,000 men, - not including women and children) were out by this mountain and Jesus knew their need for food, and met that need! What a loving and compassionate God! He not only cares about our eternal needs, but He cares about our temporal needs as well!
4. If you dont have a lot of food, and you pray over it, then it will turn into baskets and baskets of food!! What??? Are you telling me that it didnt happen for you? Well youmust not have enough faith!! ;)
So, the main point: Give God all you got! Let Him turn it into SO MUCH MORE!!
What are your thoughts about this passage?

YEAH FIRST TO POST I FEEL LIKE A SEA URGENT!!!Ok to the devotions so Jesus is walking with his diciples up this mountain and theres a whole bunch of people fallowing him and Jesus gets to the mountain and Just sits and says were will we find foof for all of these people to eat but Jesus knew where he would get it so he just was testing him and so they went to up to this boy who had 5 piece of bread and 2 fish so they took it to Jesus and he multiplied enough for everyone and they had leftovers that probably what Jesus had for dinner the next night jk so its like this Jesus can take anything you have in your life even if its something so small that you think its worthless and he can use it for his glory and thats what spoke to me about this passage.
P.S.My BRAND SPANKING NEW FURNITURE IS AMAZING AND IM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE CAMPING TRIP!!!
WHAT!!!!!! I WOKE UP EXTRA EARLY AND I'M SECOND!!!!!!!!!!!!=[=/
OH WELL...
OK I know I've heard this story before but i never took it seriously but know i have and it is AMAZING i mean wow.so who thinks they can feed 5,000 people(maybe 10,000 like pastor lee said)with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish¿?¿ NOT ME!!!! that sounds impossible to me...but nothing is impossible for Jesus!=]
So remember put all your faith in gods hands and through your life you'll be fine!=]
and pastor lee what is with that whole lamb thing about!!!!I'm pretty sure i said L-A-M-P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for the late devotion Dustin's picked me up from the movies at like 1 in the morning so we played some halo and then I did my devotions and I did Thursdays and Wednesday too.
Ive herd this story before and it just shows how cool and great he is. He was able to take five loafs of bread and two fish and feed 5 thousand. Wow to me thats pretty cool I wish I could do that but with money so that I can get a car!
After this miracle that Jesus preform people saw this and knew that he was the son of God. We need to sell out our selfs to God so he can direct us the way he wants us to go
Wow yet another account change. Hey Pl this is your Asian buddy josh just saying that i changed my account again, and yes breakfast was good but i would rather not have it at 6:00 IN THE MORNING!

:P
Okay well ive known this story for pretty much ever but now im really thinking about it and what how you could apply it.
I see that the boy who gave His food didnt hesistate, and trusted that Jesus wasnt going to use it well. Which is applicable to bigger aspects of our lives nowdays.
Its hard for me sometimes to give everrryything, and when i keep for myself i am actually losing.
Its like a neverending cycle when you give to God because he never keeps it, he always blesses you in return and you end up even happier than before when youd have kept it to yourself!
Soo, it not only makes sense to give your all, but if you think about it, who makes better decisions with your most important situations and things; you or God? i think God.
oh my word i did say lamb!!!! well i meant lamp!!! so never mind about my 2nd post pastor Lee!=/
sorry...
I agree w/Josh...The passage is kinda self explanitory...so str8 2 the application...
We can be just like that little boy...Don't hide what we have (ourselves, talents, etc) & sacrafice it all 2 Christ(who can take sumthin SMALL & make it BIG)
We as 1 SMALL PERSON can make a differance & save THOUSANDS od people by giving our all2 Christ=]

Allright, Pastor Lee basically said everything I was going to say. One thing I think is really cool is that that little boy impacted over 5,000 people. If he was selfish and didn't give what he had to Jesus, then those people wouldn't have eaten. Well, unless Jesus had another trick up His sleeve. Also, we should give 100% percent to God. That's the main thing, (:
Hello pastoral units Leonard and Katie and baby will...and hi everyone else lol. I took my SATS today thanks everyone who prayed for me...and i also made up yesterdays sorry i didnt do it i was sick like all night =[
I've heard this story soooo many times before and everytime I always say the same thing so i want to talk about something other than the fact that God used it to show his power and the usual stuff. This passage for some reason made me think of how God can do anything through you...for example he used one little boys lunch and fed 5000 people. Today i was taking my SATS and i was extremely nervous not to mention sick and kinda flipping out...well i got to the first math section and didn't know how to do like any of it and right when i was about to give up i was like hmmm maybe i should just pray and ask god to help me because i cant do this and let me just tell you like the next math section i knew how to do 95% of it and i was like blown away cause believe me i cant do that normally...So it just proved to me that God still does miracles and can use you if you just let him....im not sure if that really applied to the passage but i hope you guys got what i was saying =]
hello everyone!!!!!!! i cant believe i missed yesterdays devos!!:( cause my internet stoped working and by the time i got to my dads house it was like 10:00 so i was tired but any way im back today!!
soooooo......
todays passage is a classic!!! i am not really sure how to say it except for two words...... ANOTHER MIRICALE......i mean think about it if your hosting a party one of the most important things to a person is the food, right? so usually you stock up on food. but in this case jesus takes 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish and feeds over 5,000 people!!!!!!!! that is alot of peole!!!so my point is that god brings good to those who seek him.
well see you tomorow night!!!!
would you give your lunch to Jesus?
I would if I knew He had big plans to deal with it. Whenever the first time I heard this story it was unbeleiveable and so unreal, I thought how can Jesus feed like 10,000 with like 5loaves and 2fishes!!! that would be soo cool to be there and get some to eat and watch that miracle!!! I would totally give my lunch to Jesus!
ok pastor lee look at your proof 1:thing from yesterday...
Proof #1: The testimony of John. John was the burning and shining lamp that told people about the true light to come. We also can be like John and understand that we are one of the few ways to show people that Jesus is God. We also should strive to be a shining and burning lamb for Christ.
***************
and thats where i got lamb from! HA
Jonathan Massey was the first to comment? Ha! Unbelievable J/K I love you Jon!
Hmmmmmmmm...I'm thinking that this story is pretty cool! We see that this little boy was willing to give up his food to Jesus. We think we would do the same! But would we really? I wonder though? Why did the Jesus ask the disciples how to find food for all these people? Maybe it was for the same reason that He asked that one woman for water I don't think we have gotten to her yet but I remember that he asked her for water. Maybe Jesus was trying to show the disciples that they can't do this alone, and their need to ask of HIM for help?
But the most amazing thing to me is that Jesus chose to use a little "lad" lol I like that little "lad" :) to accomplish this great miracle!
What a difference a little boy or "lad" made on the world! He didn't have much, but what he had he was willing to surrender to the Lord and allow Jesus to use it to minister to the thousands. Will you give your life to Jesus today? Totally, and completely give yourselves to be used of God to minister to others? Make yourself available to the great I AM.... who knows what God might choose to do with you!
Sainara(Japanese) :)
well we have all probably heard of this story before. it says that Jesus went over a lake and near a mountain and a lot of people (5000-10000 people) were following Him to see what He had to say. then a problem occured where they needed food to feed all the people following Jesus and a little boy with 5 pieces of bread and 2 pieces of fish gave it to Jesus and because of him doing that Jesus did another miracle and fed all of those people. if it weren't for that little boy then no one would have been fed (well Jesus would have probably done another mircle and made something happen to feed them), but the boy did a great thing. we need to be like that, always giving to others and putting your self last. it reminds me of what pastor lee said when he first came hear "there is two choices on the shelf, pleasing God or pleasing self", and it is so true and we need to be like that little boy.
jon what's a sea urgent? do you mean sea urchin? weirdo........ anyway here comes the Bible
yo loco people-o so i don't feel like writing a book today so yaah so basically this says Jesus can do anything ok
here's bethany it's her turn
hey guys its bethany,im still over @ phillips and i will be tomorrow too .we are hanging out and now i have a computer so i figured this would be a good time to to start being loyal to my devotions.
this passage talks about how jesus can do anything.he is the al powerful god and he can do any thing he pleases.it also talks about how god will bless you and make you happy if you devote your life to jesus christ.
P.S. i talked to my mom and she said i could probly go camping with everyone so i am excited and i look forward to spending time with everyone.
It has been an encouragement to me to see this up and running. My name is Matt Hoffmann. I am a youth worker at Trinity Baptist Church and actually work with Steve Aenis and Amanda Aenis in the tenth grade youth group. I heard about this last night (Wednesday night) and have visited it the past few days. Keep up the good work, taking time to read God's word. He will bless you for it. Can't wait to be able to discuss with my kids soon.
First, everyone must have been hungry from traveling, so when that boy gave up his food, he had faith that God would do something great and he didn't give up his lunch to say look what God did with MY lunch. He was just being helpful and sacrificed his lunch for everyone else and was rewarded with as much food as he could eat. After this feast, Jesus says "I am the Bread of Life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger: and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." This miracle is an illustration of what God can do if we have faith. He was that bread that was broken, that filled the people, and that spilled over in leftovers. If we eat this bread we will be filled with the Spirit, life, and will never hunger again.
