Hey everyone! Good to see you online! Well it is monday and we are finishing up Ephesians this week, so stay faithful in the word.

A Few Thoughts from Yesterday:
Well yesterday was Sunday and we had a great day at church. Many of you were not in Sunday School and we missed you. Also what happened last night? Lets stay faithul folks! :) (folks... HA!)
Well anyway, we will see you on Wednesday!

Ephesians 6:5-9

5 Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;
6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.
9 And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

This passage reminds us that we have authority in our life and we must understand how to "serve" our authority. Five explains that we must serve with fear and trembling, which means respect. We must aslo serve for the right reason, not with eye-service, in other words, not so that other people can see what you are doing. We must also serve our authority as if we are serving Christ himself. Because when we do obey our earthly authority, we are obeying our heavenly authority who tells us to obey our earthly authority... (if you didnt get that, then go back and read it again)
Maybe some of you are in authority over others, well if you are, then the end of this passage also speaks to you: It says that you must also show these same godly traits to your subordinates. Lets serve the people around us, whether they be over us or under us: Serve them with respect, for the right reason, and serve them as if you are serving Christ.

hey yall sorry i havent been on in a few days im up in clearwater and have just been so busy and havent gotten a chance to get on but now that everyone is at school i can finally get on lol

this passage is talking about authority
and i know that as teenagers we have a hard time with authority because we want to be in control and when ever were told to do something that we really dont want to do either we dont do it or we do it with the wrong attitude which is no better than not doing it at all
these verses tell us to have a good and Godly attitude when we do stuff and to obey authority with the same attitude =]
the thing that kept on poping up in my head was a saying from the wilds "obey quickly sweetly and completely" aand thats what this is telling us to do because if we do that then we are showitn God through our actions =]

oh and btw i like that joke lol you can deff tell that the masseys picked that one

Wow I never thought of this before like serving your authority should be like serving Christ. Some little kids these days dont obey and aggrevate you so much and argue. And when ever I think of this passage I can talk to them about how we should be respectful unto our authority under or above us and I should explain with love and wisdom. God tells us to obey our earthly authority (anybody) And we should do it with a loving heart and no bitterness toward each other.

"Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ" Meaning your authority besides Christ should be treated like Christ would want you to treat them i know i have a hard time with authority and im sure a lot of us teenagers probably have problems with authority to including are parents but treat them like you know Christ would want you to reat them.

well this was kind of like the passage on saturday about obeying. except this passage says obey the outhority over you and saturdays was about obeying your parents, which is also very important. it says to obey your master or who ever has authority over you and not to complain about it. also for the masters not to threaten them or provoke them to do anything bad. my opinion is to only obey the authority over you if it is pleasing God or if it is not bad and wont hurt anybody.

Thanks Pastor Lee for letting us hangout with you, Katie and baby Will today it was fun and relaxing!

I see in these passages that it tells us that we need to be respectful of our “masters” whether they are good and considerate or harsh. We need to fear and honor God. Please Him because it is God’s will that we show proper respect to everyone and by doing so God will silence the mouths of all the foolish people in our lives.
The verses also say that we have been called to suffer for God because He suffered for us, He left an example that we might follow in His footsteps.

What a dumb joke! Who left that?? :)

Ok, I feel stupid. I don't understand the joke. Anyone care to explain? Lol.

Ok, to the devos. God is saying that we need to be obedient to our authority. That is something I struggle with the most! Being a teenager, I think I know what is best. Well, sometimes my dad lets me do what I think is right and it ends up horrible. My dad has authority over me and he knows what is best for me. When we do something on Earth, God doesn't want us to see it as something we are doing to get a reward (money, recognition, or anything in of that matter). He wants us to do it for Him. There is a verse that we always say at the Wilds before we eat "Whether therfore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all for the glory of God." (If it's not word for word, I'm sorry.) What ever we do, we need to do our best for God. Even at school. If we are slacking off and not doing our work to the best of our abbility, that's not pleasing to God. I know I have a really hard time with that.

i see this as telling us to have humble and respectful obedience; and to whoever is in authority to us. most of the time when i dont listen to authority it slaps me in the face and i realize theyre in charge of me for a reason; im dumb but mainly because i need it. like the devotion from a few days ago about obeying parents, we should obey other authority too because God put them there for a reason and we are honoring Him when we do. it also says to not obey for recognition or abuse authority we are given.
ps; kacey i think it means they wore leaves fer clothes and she made his shirt -made of leaves?- into salad. x]

juss kiddingg about my ps then :]

um I dont get the joke but maybe its just that im a noob! Wow what a dumb joke i wonder who did it?

This is saying that the people that are above us we should respect and fear them. We should be afraid of the lord because that shows respect! Dont look down on people people show them the love that they disevere even if their a little dofferent than us it doesnt mean that there not a good person.

Well, the part that really jumped out to was "not with eyeservice, as man-pleasers, but as bondservice of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart." WOW- it is really easy to do what is right with people watching, but what is my heart. Am I really doing what is right because everyone around me is watching? Or is it my heart's desire to do right and that is what moves me to be obedient. It is quite a challenge to us.

Wow, the first word of this passage reminds me how good I have it. These bondservants were slaves who had no Roman citizenship so they had few rights. Their masters could even have them crucified in some instances. We have so many freedoms and luxuries that we enjoy!

Anywho (or anyway...whatever) since this was the situation these Christian slaves were living in it's interesting that Paul didn't tell them to start a riot. he told them to obey. Oooo, obeying is not always easy and it wasn't for them. But they were to do it reverently and sincerely because they were really serving the Lord.

In verse 6 Paul says that they were not to be a hypocrite about it like the "teacher's pet" at school who flatters the teacher in class but you know what he or she says about that same teacher at lunch (Let's just say it ain't Christian).

Verse 7 with goodwill which means "kindness" doing service which means making yourself a slave to others. Why in the world would we do that? Because Jesus was treated worse than a slave for us.

Verse 8 gets down to the line from the movie "The Grinch" where the Grinch says to his dog, "Okay, here's your motivation." One day the Lord is going to reward us for every good thing we ever do. That's the big leagues!

Forgive my incessant ramblings, but verse 9 says that if we find ourselves in a leadership position (e.g. captain of a team, first chair, trainer at work...whatever)we should be kind and treat everyone with respect because God does the same for us. I"M OUT!

If you dont listen to authority justified by God most of the time you end up in a miserable situation anyway, I used to be bad with authority and most times I didnt care to understand that the people in authority are usually put there for a reason. Even if you disagree with and authority figure God tells us to obey if nothing else in service to him.

This passage tells us to be obedient (did i spell that right?) to people higher authority than us. Like respecting your elders. Always listen to your parents kids or you will get a spoon to the head... a wooden spoon.
