Proverbs 6

Warnings Against Adultery
20 My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching.
21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you.
23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life,
24 to preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.
25 Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelashes;
26 For the price of a prostitute is only a loaf of bread, but a married woman hunts down a precious life.
27 Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned?
28 Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched?
29 So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; none who touches her will go unpunished.
30 People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is hungry,
31 but if he is caught, he will pay sevenfold; he will give all the goods of his house.
32 He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.
33 He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away.
34 For jealousy makes a man furious, and he will not spare when he takes revenge.
35 He will accept no compensation; he will refuse though you multiply gifts.

This is a powerful verse about how terrible it is to lose your purity in adultery... the interesting fact is that adultery is generally speaking about only married people, but the root word that is translated into adultery here in this chapter literally means any kind of sexual sin...

We must avoid sexual sin, whether it is with a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a website, a thought in our mind... any of these are areas where we can horbor sexual sin, and this chapter makes it clear that IT WILL DESTROY OUR LIFE!!!

There is a lesson at the very beginning that I love, it makes it clear that we must tie Gods truth around our neck so that we do not forget about it... now that is not literally, it is an illustration...

HAve you ever heard of the boy who tied a string to his finger to remember to buy something at the store for his mother? He knew that he would forget, but he also knew that He would look down at his hand and see the string as a reminder... Maybe you should write one of these verses on a note card and keep it in your pocket for a few days!! That would be a great way to "Tie Gods truth around your neck" :)

Love you guys! Stay Faithful!!!

Heyy! I am hoping that i will start getting back on here, cause honestly i have no excuse not to.

okay this passage is pretty straight forward i mean come on "32 He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.33 He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away." basically says if you commit adultery your stupid and it WILL destroy your life! It's sin, God hates it, so why is it done? I think it could be because of two reasons...1. temptation or 2. people don't know the truth. It's up to us to spread the truth. this is something i really need to work on, having accepted Jesus as my savior,I should be telling what i KNOW is the truth, sadly i don't think I am as much as I could be.

I am listening to that song"the voice of truth" by casting crowns and i think we should sing it sometime on a wednsday night. I love it!!!!

Well hope everyone is having a great summer!! :)

Whenever I get tempted with any sin, I just remind myself that it is a sign that Satan hates me, and he wants me destroyed! Every temptation you get, is an opportunity to stand up for Christ, to do good, not a roadblock to your spiritual journey. And this is temptation with any sin, not just sexual immorality, though that may be a big one for most men.

Remember, flee from sexual immorality!

Just got back from St. Augustine and visiting Flagler College!!

This is some very important infomation. It says that we need to keep the commandmets with us at all times in our hearts! I think it would be cool to learn verses by heart and recite them:)
I really like verse 23 "For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life," the commandments are a light that never burns out; it is eternal and teaches the way of life.
Audultery is a terrible thing! And in verse 32, it says how it can destory people. So we must never fall into temptations, try and forget about jealousy, and follow God's word! Adultery and sins are the darkness of this beautiful world. But the light comes from God and his commandments:) Thats how I like to look at things.
