Be at church tonight, the Lord's supper is tonight, along with clips from the passion of the Christ!
12 Words from a wise man's mouth are gracious, but a fool is consumed by his own lips.
13 At the beginning his words are folly; at the end they are wicked madness-
14 and the fool multiplies words. No one knows what is coming— who can tell him what will happen after him?
15 A fool's work wearies him; he does not know the way to town.
16 Woe to you, O land whose king was a servant and whose princes feast in the morning.
17 Blessed are you, O land whose king is of noble birth and whose princes eat at a proper time- for strength and not for drunkenness.
18 If a man is lazy, the rafters sag; if his hands are idle, the house leaks.
19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes life merry, but money is the answer for everything.
20 Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird of the air may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say.
That last verse is amazing! It's pretty much saying don't do anything in private that you wouldn't do in public, because there may be someone watching that you don't know about! I remember PL telling a story on a wednesday about one time him and Jon Massey both got a video cam for the PC, and they talked for a while, but then when they disconnected, PL said Jon's computer was still active, and could hear what was going on in his house. A few minutes later, PL said he heard Jon yelling that he saw a bug, and Jon's parents srarted freaking out, and could have added some curse words in there, but they didn't. The Masseys must know the power of this verse!

Yeah this is VERY important to understand. If you don't want to do something in public (telling someone a secret that might be overheard, something embarassing to you, etc..) then you may want to consider to not even do it in private. Verse 20 states that "Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird of the air may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say." Meaning that someone can easily be listening to what you are saying and they might pass that around and maybe even other rumors..not a good thing at all. So this passage is telling us to be wise in what we say or do! Great service tonight btw
this is talking a lot about fools. I like what Michael said about the last verse. don't says something in private that you wouldn't want everyone to hear. this reminds me of an old saying "if you can't say something nice don't say it at all". this kindof implies to this passage because if you can't say something that everyone can hear then don't say it at all. say good and nice things that everyone can hear them and that will be a good example for God.
Yea the last verse is the power hitter in this passage, yet I can't help but notice the verse that precedes it and wonder whether it is based on a former verse in context or if it is meant to be fecitious. Lee input would help I would like to know just what Solomon means here.
Yes! That part about not doing anything in private that you wouldn't do in public is so true! That honestly reminds me of gossip. Sometimes it's hard not to talk about people, but think how they would feel being talked about. Sometimes I feel like people talk about me, and I hate it, so I try to say good things about people. You never know who could be watching O.o Smile, you're on Candid Camera =D lol. So be careful what you say and who you are around when you say it. I've heard about instances where someone was talking to another person about a certain someone, and then they find out right after they said something about them that that person was right behind them. Or they walk in just as they were being talked about. It's embarrassing to both people. And it is also rude, talking behind someone's back. This goes along with "Think before you speak," and "Think before you act." If you're gonna talk about someone, say something good :) If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!
