Hey everyone, how is your spring break so far? Boring? Well this passage will spice it up!

Ecclesiastes 11

Bread Upon the Waters

1 Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.
2 Give portions to seven, yes to eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
3 If clouds are full of water, they pour rain upon the earth. Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there will it lie.
4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.

Remember Your Creator While Young

7 Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.
8 However many years a man may live, let him enjoy them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything to come is meaningless.
9 Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.
10 So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.

The last verses of this chapter is God telling us to enjoy our life, everyday of it, but there will be days where darkness will befall upon us, and there may and will be many.

Have you ever had a day where nothing was going your way, or where sin was just thriving like a nasty cancer, and wouldn't stop? That is what this verse is reffering to. Just remember, whenever sin is thriving at your location, run from it! just like a nasty virus would overcome a cell in the body, even if the cell was mr tough guy, the cancer would overtake him. If the cell were to slip away from where the cancer was spreading, it will still be itself, and not be taken over.

Also the next verse says to be happy, young people! Thats us! I remember PL once talked about being happy, and he said the word happy appeared... about a few hundred times! God wants us to be happy! I don't know about you, but I consider myself a happy person. It may not always seem like it, but overall, I am. What about you? Are you happy?

In verse 3 "If clouds are full of water, they pour rain upon the earth. Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there will it lie,"
it reminds me of one of my favorite syaings, "There is always rain before a rainbow comes" Also
because near the end of the passage it is saying that we should be reminded of the days of darkness, but the most important thing is that we should be happy, joyful, and optomistic(look on the bright side), because verse 7 says that everyone pleases the light.. And yeah, verse 9 is definately my favorite.

Well, how's everyones spring break going?

(p.s. I didn't clarify that saying I posted very well. It pretty much means that when there is bad stuff going on, there will soon be happiness.)

For the first part, in verse 5, it is saying to me that the work of God is SO amazing that us humans cannot even BEGIN to comprehend how it was all formed and created. If someone has any doubt about if the world was formed from the big bang theory or creation, just take the example of a mother giving birth. It's a miracle, and those type of things don't just pop out of nowhere. Only God can perform these miracles, he is the Maker of everything. Verse 8 says that we should enjoy everyday of our life. If something bad should happen to jeopardize our life, we just have to struggle through it with the Lord's help the best we can, and learn from mistakes and experiences. Enjoy the life God gave you, the miracle of life. Hmm I think I just realized that it would be an insult to God to destroy your life, through suicide, as an example. Just like what my grandpa was thinking of doing, apparently, after my grandma died. My neighbor was telling him, "Don't you go destroy yourself, you won't go to Heaven if you do that." or something along those lines. God gave you a life to live, a miracle, a gift, and he expects you and wants you to enjoy it and follow your heart. If you destroy it, it insults him. Sort of like if you give someone a Christmas present for them to enjoy, and they get rid of it or never use it. It would hurt your feelings, most likely. So go enjoy God's gift to you and don't stain your body and life with sin.

You know what is powerful in this passage? The statement "Everything to come is meaningless."
That statement gives complete finality. But check it out, to me Solomon is saying that we need to focus on, enjoy, live in, think about the present and not what is to come. Even memories are great but always looking to the horizon is dangerous. Good book Emily. You should publish it lol. Now I'd like to know more about verse 10 but most importantly we are told to BANISH ANXIETIES! this is pretty hard for me. *sigh* I think this is going to be a challenge for me im going to set a goal but trusting completely in God's plan for my life and being less concerned with what is to come. I dont understand sometimes how I can possibly doubt God's plan when he has done so much already for me and brought me to where I am.

the beginning is talking about reaping what we sow. in the first verses it says that if we look into the clouds we will not reap. we can't just sit there and do nothing and hope everything good happens to us...we have to work to earn things. the verses also say that we can be happy but God is still going to judge us. meaning that we can be happy, but just not happy in sin. we can be happy without sin in our lives...it's called Jesus. so we will reap what we sow and we need to be happy in the Lord.
