Psalm 28

1 Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.
3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.
5 Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.

This passage, like all others, is telling us more amazing truths. It tells us God doesn't put up with wicked sinners, (like us at one point, but we are made righteous though His blood) and has a special place for them if they don't want His gift of Salvation. Like verse 4 says that those who are wicked should get what they deserve. NOW, THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM BY ELIMINATING THAT PERSON YOURSELF! God will take care of their punishment, not you, unless your like a police officer who is trying to find a murderer in the area, and you happen to shoot the killer because he didn't drop his gun and was about to fire.....

OFF TRACK! Point is, God will take care of their punishment, the only thing you can try to do is convince your wicked friend that Christ can forgive you and He loves you.

Verse 7 is just awesome. Period. The Lord is our strength and our shieid! AWESOME! If you trust in the Lord, He will get you though Satan's temptations, sinful pleasures that you want out of your life, He is our strength, and WILL get you though life's problems, ONLY IF YOU TRUST IN HIM!

Trust in Him, surely you want to trust Him....... Yes?

Lol I mentioned Solomon yesterday because I thought we were still in Ecclesiastes! Then today I read this and I'm like man this sounds a lot like David. This has to be David! lol and yea It's psalms. Ok so anyway David's heart for God is accentuated in this passage he is crying "Lord don't draw me away with the wicked but stay with me!" David wanted to constantly be closer to God it is amazing. I also like David because he was a songwriter. Verse 7 is awesome; David's heart will trust in him, his strength is in Him and he can rejoice and SING PRAISE because of what God is doing in him. I think the youth group should be the most powerful part of the church when we are singing worship in the service, It doesn't matter if you are singing in the wrong key or completely tone def God loves to hear us sing. Check it out next time you dont want to sing in Church, do it anyway and do it loud you will feel better. We have SO much to be happy about coutn your blessings and realize that God is working constantly in our lives and above all else He loved us and died so that we can be with him in heaven some day and live forever if that doesn't make you want to sing then man I don't know.

Back to the passage.
Backtracking we see in verses 3-6 one thought. The people that speak peace and are deceitful but actually have a darkness in their heart. David asks that they are given according to their works. These same people do not work to be the Lord's hand and feet or to focus on God's will instead they are selfish and think inward(like Sith). Verse 5 says The Lord will destroy them. They will be stagnant in growth.
Good Passage

Oh my! I actually sat down and read my Bible today, and this passage is one of the things I read!! I was very...inspiredish.. today :) So anyways, yeah I like Psalms :) and they are songs! yay...In verses 1-3, David is saying he doesn't want the Lord to leave him, he wants to be answered, or else he might become like the sinners around him. And I had to read the little sidebar thingies when I actually read this earlier, but in verse 4, David wants the Lord to punish the sinners, give them what they deserve. Because they do not obey and follow the Lord, they should be punished (brought down) and not rewarded (brought up) by Him. I agree, verse 7 is awesomeness :) Without the Lord, no one is strong. If you trust in Him and put your faith into Him, He will help you! I find this SO true! Especially since I came to my first Wednesday service lol :D I've been much happier and I feel closer to the Lord already! :) "therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth..." Um well the next part, I can't say I'm absolutely thrilled about, but it is true..."and with my song will I praise him." Basically, sing! I dread singing I have to admit, but I do try to sing a little bit, like when I go to Sunday church sometimes..
although you can't hear me lol. So trust in the Lord, He will help you if you truly believe in His strenth and power.

This passage really has some good sections to it! I really love Psalms because each one of them has a certain strong meaning to them, and sometimes when I turn to the book of Psalms, I find a passage right away that relates to what I'm going through. It is sometimes really hard to encourage that friend who doesn't accept Christ as their savior, so we need to show them how much love the Lord can have for them! but we need to remember that God will decide what will become of the sinners. I like verse 7 alot "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted him, and I helped him," meaning that David trusted the Lord so much, and he was praising him all the way:) We can praise the Lord in so many ways. I like what Emily and Michael said about singing every sunday in church, because praise is important, Music can help bring people closer to the Lord:) It helps your heart greatly rejoice in his word. I feel great when I sing even if it sounds bad (lol). Verse 8 states that the Lord can be anyones strength if they would come to him and ask for his forgiveness and guidance. God's wisdom is so great that I can't even describe in words how amazing it is:) Believe! He will help you through the toughest of situations.

I definitely like verse 7 the most. it is sooooooooooooooo true that the Lord is our strength and shield. He is our strength because He gives us strength to move everday and He is our shield because He protects us from evil. He doesn't just take evil away from us so we are never tempted with it but He just makes it possible for us to escape the evil when we are tempted by it. when the Lord is our strength we should us that to the best of our ability everyday to witness to others and not just sit around doing nothing. God gives us these things so we can help others get to know Him. so lets us what God gives us everyday and get other closer to God...we owe it to Him for everything He has and is doing for us.
