Psalm 25

1 Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.
8 Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

This is another great Psalm. I love the first two verses. When I was growing up we used to sing a song that had those words in it!! I would always sing it, and then when it got to verse 2 where it says: "Oh My God, I Trust in Thee" I always thought it was soooooooo Bad!!!! Because it had a "BAD WORD" in it! I could never understand why I was not allowed to say: "Oh My ***", But I WAS ALLOWED TO SING IT!!!! I couldnt figure it out! The fact is: The words are not bad in themselves, but the context in which we use the words are what is important. If I say those three words in vain, then it is wrong, but if I say those three words as I am calling out to God, then there is nothing wrong with it!!!!!!!

I Also Love Verse 21!!!

Let Integrity and Uprightness PRESERVE ME!!!! For I wait on thee! What a great passage! If I cannot live a life of Character, then I will not be happy, but if I can have integrity and live with uprightness, then I will be successfull in Gods eyes! and I will excperience happiness!!

I have always wondered what made a bad word a "bad word", but now I know. I had that same problem Pastor Lee, when I was in church before I got saved. I was so confused...

It seems here the psalmist was callin' out to God for help. Again. Well there isn't anything wrong with calling out to God multiple times, since He will always here you, and reply back. The relpy back could be 1 day, could be 1 year, see God doesn't measure time with the same measuring rods we do, He measures time based on His Grace and when would that grace be best use on your life, so you can praise Him all of your days.

Yeah, i like how you said that He goes by His time Michael.
i was seriously just about to say something about that!

So verses 17/18 are really good. Its a reminder that we can go to God and ask for Him to take away our pains because He is gracious and powerful enough to do so.
The only thing is, like Michael said, God chooses when to give you a sprinkle of grace or just when to pull you out of your pain (which im getting greatly reminded of lately), so we need to be patient and continue to do Gods will while we struggle until we are given some light.
Thats hard! and i really pray that i stick to it

Look at that we're all thinking the same thing! like i thought saying "oh my ***" was totally and completely off limits! but now i so understand!
I think this passage is good for me cause like i used to worry about what people would say about me if i told them i was a "christian" and now i realize that, that was really stupid and immature.. i shouldn't be ashamed of what i believe in, cause its me and nobody else, if anything i should be trying to invite them to church and witnessing to them about god!

Make that four people who are thinking the same thing. I agree With everything that has been said and I really like the first 4verses. When God needs us He will use us and we just need to be patient until then and trust Him. We also need to trust God to show us the way which is pretty much the same thing as in we need to be patient and pray. I did my devos yesterday but I posted it and it said there was an error so I will do those when I have time another day! Bye!

This Psalm is a prayer of repentance as well as a prayer for comfort and guidance. This has got a lot of substance so rather than posting a reflection I'm just going to pray on it and read it like 20 times through. Basically though David is reaching out to God with his troubles and his sins asking for pardon and also asking God to guide him in His righteous ways.
