Hey Guys! I hope that you were in Sunday School Today! It was great fun! We talked about todays passage, so if you werent there... you will be able to read some of the things that we talked about.
Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
11 A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work.
12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
15 In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
We covered alot of this passage this morning! What are the most obvious verses that you need to work on? For me: 32 is great! He that is SLOW to anger is better than the mighty...
Often we think that it would be great to be MIGHTY, to be tough, to be intimidating so that no one will pick a fight with you... well, God says even better than that is someone who is slow to anger!!
Do you get angry qiuck? or are you longsuffering? I know that I probably lean more on the "get angry wick" side of things... I need to be longsuffering and SLOW TO ANGER!!
Also: Verse 7 is incredible! When a man's ways please the Lord he makes even his enemoes to be at peace with Him!! That is so great! I want to live in a way that means that even my enemies will have nothing bad to say about me! That is tough, but if it werent possible God wouldnt tell us this!
I want to please God so much that everyone can see the peace and JOY in my life... even people who want to be my enemy!

Whoa. It says that it's better to be smart than to have gold! Whoa. A lot of people would peffer gold over being smart anyday. However, we often take wisdom for granted, and take money as something valuable. If you think about it, all money is is green pieces of paper with dead presidents on them, what's so valuable about that? Wisdom, however, can determine your eternal future, and lost people don't have the wisdom we do, and their going to hell because they don't have the wisdom to see that the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ can clense them of ALL their sins. The only way they can learn of this wisdom, is through YOU telling them about it. My brothers and sisters in Christ, what will it be?

one verse that I liked was verse 7-when a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him-meaning if you please the Lord and you are at peace with the Lord and you are a kind person, then even your enemies will be at peace with you and they will like you because they wont have anything to be upset at you for and they wont bother you. another verse that I liked was verse 16-how much better is it to get wisdom than gold and to get understanding rather to be chosen then silver-meaning wisdom is better than gold. wisdom can make you happy depending on if you listen to your own wise words, but money can never make you happy. money is there for a little while then its gone but you can always have wisdom and it never leaves you. so we need to be kind and loving people and we need to be wise.
Well ince yesterday i already posted about being slow to anger, ill just talk about verse 7.
I know that sometimes i waste a lott of time trying to keep everyone on a good side with me and me with them; i think a lot of people do, because you know, no one really wants an enemy; right?!
WELLL, i can stop wasting my time. Verse 7 says that when you are living for the Lord, you wont have those conflicts because you will be living RIGHT, and theres nothing anyone can hate about a person who is truly living life on the right path.
Honestly, it seems kind of common sense to me now, but ive never really thought of it like that before.
i guess i should try instead of trying to mend things with people to just focus on living right with the Lord.
Hey everyone sorry I wasn't in Sunday School this morning, I think most of you know what happened to my leg so I wont explain that awful story but that's why I was not there. Please pray for it to heal!!! thanks
devos...
I liked verse 32 which basically just says to be slow to anger or not get mad easily. I also thought that verse 24 was unusual but cool and there isnt much you can say about it except that it stuck out in this passage and tells you to say pleasant words! Also there is verse 7 that says if you please the Lord even the enemies you have will be at peace with you, since there isnt anything they could be against you or mad at you for. When you are pleasing God there isnt any sin that could be involved that I can think of therefore no war between anyone could happen and you will have peace with them all! I hope this makes sense because I started confusing myself while typing this! So the main thing im going to work on is pleasing God all the time because I want/need to and because I will have no enemies from living His way! bye everyone see yall wednesday!!!!!!!!!
This passage is the passage that helped me get through the whole sonya drama i had going on im my life. Line 7 like p. lee said is amazing that if your right with god even your enemies cant hate you, which is exactly what happened with me n sonya. things were really bad but once i gave it to god n just stopped caring, now me n her are wayyyyy better.
It can be so very easy to take God's blessings for granted. I definitly know i do and i think verse 5 really applies to this.-->5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.<-- I find myself guilty of taking credit for God's blessings in my life. When we become prideful, we become an abomination.. that is powerful. I certainly need to work on this. Another verse i really liked is verse 7-->7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.<-- I feel like this is an answer. This verse is the answer to soo many problems teens face today. It really is easy to get caught up into petty drama and get into pointless arguments. Rather than worrying about the drama, worry about putting your relationship with God first. By doing so, the conflict between you and an enemy or someone of the nature can be taken care of by God. It is easier than trying to fix it yourself!... My favorite verse in this passage is definitly verse 24 -->24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.<--. I think we can look at these words in two ways. One, i think these words are words of encouragement for the down and discouraged. However, I also think we need to look at this verse as a request. We need to recognize the signifigance of nice, kind words and should pass those words on to others. As Christians we should all be helping eachother day by day, through lifes struggles. This is definitly one of the simplist ways to achieve this.
I have no idea why but earlier today I thought of this verse, 16, and I related it to... Wow I just forgot but it was very relavent and I used parents to symbolize wisdom. So umm verse 29 seems to be quite true, and I even see it happen to myself a lot. Like someone just wants to fight me just because I'm using a squeaky can opener that is SOOOO annoying. Anyways so when he starts threatening me I start to think Oh man I want to beat this kid up. So um yeah don't do that.
