Hey everyone! I enjoyed seeing you guys on yesterday!! Especially Gaby, Jordan, Mallory, Michael, Tyler, and Rachel.
I hope you guys remain faithful! Here is some information about tomorrow! I will be at the church at 6:15 pm for anyone that needs a ride, I will leave the church by 6:22 and head over to Buffalo Wild Wings!
Remember I will be providing the wings... If you want a drink then bring some cash, if you want something besides wings then bring some cash... If you want water to drink I'll cover the wings and the water :)
I am excited! We will also talk about what reward activity we can do next!
On to the devotions!
Proverbs 17
1 Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
2 A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
3 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
6 Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
8 A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
12 Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
16 Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?
17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18 A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
19 He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
20 He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
23 A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
26 Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Ouch Verse 10 is painful!! A wise person can hear reproof one time and listen, while a fool will still not listen even after he has been beat 100 times!! That is foolish!
Think about it like this: There are some people (including me) who you can tell them not to do something one time and they will listen and obey your advice... BUT then ther are some people that will not listen to advice and they will make the wrong choice over and over even though they have to suffer the painful consequences of their sin!!!
STOP BEING FOOLISH!!!! LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO LOVE YOU AND WHO WANT TO KEEP YOU FROM SUFFERING ALL THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN!!!!
Verse 22 is amazing! A Merry heart is life medicine!!! Think about this: You have probably seen those silly news clips about how people take dogs, monkeys, cats, and all kinds of other stuff to the hospitals to make people happy because it aids in healing faster!! THAT IS SO TRUE!!! When we are happy it is like medicine to our spirit!!!
That is why we love to be with positive people and dread being around grouchy negative people!! A MERRY HEART IS LIKE MEDICINE!! If you are grouchy then get a prescription for A Merry Heart!
Finally! The last verse says: Even a fool is counted wise when He KEEPS HIS MOUTH SHUT!!!! There is hope!! The bible tells us that if you often find yourself being a fool, you can change that quickly by simply keeping your mouth SHUT!!!
Dont fight, Dont Lie, Dont Brag, Dont criticize, dont complain, dont swear, dont slander, dont judge, dont be a one upper :) JUST STOP TALKING AND YOU MIGHT JUST BE A LITTLE WISER! :)

This passage is really good! It seems like most of it (or at least a lot of it) talks about "the fool" and what he does and says. I know that there were something on there that the Bible says a fool does that sometimes I do. I know these are things that I really want to work on!
I think what convicted me the most was verse 5. It says that if you are glad at the calamties of another you will not be unpunished. In other words, if I have the attitude "they got what was coming to them" or if I am glad that something bad happened happened to someone the Lord will not overlook it. I know sometimes you know someone that is just not a pleasant person and something negative happens in their life and you feel like they got what they deserved. We should not be happy about this, but rather show compassion on them.
I know I do not want to be considered a fool in man's eyes, let alone God's. We must watch our speech and our actions, and be sure they are in line with what God wants!

7 "Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince."
Wow. This verse seems sooooooooo familiar. If you go the public schools, then you DEFINETLY know what I'm talking about. I NEVER go a day without hearing swear words. I maybe hear about AT LEAST 4 a minute, maybe more, maybe less. It really depends if your in the classroom, or in the halls. After a while, it gets old. Whoa, I met to say, IT'S ALWAYS HAS BEEN OLD AND ALWAYS WILL BE! I'm getting A LOT better at taming my heart, because like Josh said on teen takeover night, "You can't tame your mouth, only your heart."
Happy Birthday Michael!
Thanks anonymous! Pastor Lee didn't mention it on the frontpage so, How did you know it was my birthday?
this passage reminded me of how i need to listen the first time im warned about something because i dont wanna be like the guy in verse 10 who is a fool. I wanna be happy like verses 21 through23 explain because if your happy it trickles down throughout your life.
One verse that I like is Verse 24
"Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth."
This verse is similar to one I commented on last week. It basically says that those who have understanding or in other cases believe on God will have wisdom, but the eyes of the foolish are pretty much worthless because I mean come on who really wants to go to the ends of the Earth anyway. To me that means that many of us are blessed with wisdom, but at the same time some of our eyes our worthless because they're foolish.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL!!!!!!! I AM SORRY! I DID NOT KNOW THAT YOUR BIRTHDAY WAS TODAY!
(usually I have all the teenagers birthdays in my phone to remind me, but yours is not in there for some reason!)
Please forgive me! How about I buy you some Wings tomorrow night to make it up to you!!
(By the way... Anonymous: Good timing to fit that in there right between both of Michaels comments... Cough Cough**... :)
In verse 13 it says whoever thinks evil is good will have evil in his house forever. Also I think that this means that if you think bad is good than you are a fool.In verse 28 that fool sure is lucky that he is not recognized as a fool. Wow if he just keeps quiet they won't be able to tell him apart from a wise man.
one verse that I liked was verse 28-even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding-meaning even if you are a foolish person (which hopefully your not) if you shut your mouth or stop talking then you are considered a wise person. one thing that I think that means is like when your parents tell you to do something, don't talk back just listen to them. if we talk back then we are considered unwise but if we don't talk back then we are considered wise. so just shut your mouth pretty much and you will be better off...for some people.
sorry this is so short today. I am sick, achey, tired, and feel like crap. so hopefully I will be better tomorrow.
Yeah I agree with PL "anonymous" *Mike* At least the few times I've done stuff like that I seperated the time by at least an hour or so. More importantly On to the devos. verse 21 is so true. For example ****'s dad is always frustrated with his son/daughter's behavior since s/he always acts like an idiot. So I guess verse 25 can accompany that perfectly. All us teens should notice that when we do something stupid, like spraying axe on your wall and lighting it on fire, our parents get angry, and have a sense of dissaproval and dissapointment in their voice.
*note I did not relate any of this to me, although I have done some pretty stupid stuff myslef*
Yeah, about that perfect timing, I did that on purpose to just say it's my birthday without being rude or proud. And PL, sorry if I was rude when I said "Pastor Lee didn't mention it on the frontpage."
Okay so i went to school today and had to explain the story of my leg about 1 million times!!! tomorrow I am going to the emergency room again and they are going to take the wick (its like a candle wick that drains everything out of my leg and is about a foot long) out of my leg so what i want to do is video tape this disgusting thing while looking the other direction! this should be fun! please pray for me!
Okay so now the devos...
I really liked verse 22. I remember hearing this song on a video! A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. So in other words we need to have a joyful happy heart and not a broken spirit because we will die an unhappy life. I definitely want to be the person with a happy life!!!! I think the last verse is interesting because it say that there is still hope for foolish people. JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!! Pastor Lee listed some foolish things so im sure that MOST of us have in fact done some of those things. To fix part of that just keep your mouth shut and not talk back to your parents or talk at all, it could lead to more sin and problems! well i hope to see you guys wednesday and I also hope I can walk tomorrow!!! lol bye.
This is definitly a great passage. There are two main things i think i need to personally take to heart. One being in verse 22: --> 22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. <-- Too often i find myself being a pessimist. It is so easy to get hung up on small things, we lose sight of the big picture, and somtimes forget how blessed we really are. At least this is certainly true with me. It is the optimistic who are happy, and carry joy and confidence. I really need to work on this.
The second verse that i need to apply to my life is verse 28->Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.<-- Even a fool is wise to close their mouth! Sometimes the answer is to not answer at all. Often we can "dig ourselves a deeper whole" when we continue to talk. Walking away from a situation may sometimes be the only wise answer... Even if we are in situation that does not involve us, keeping our mouths closed can often keep us out of conflict, and may allow us to learn something positive from a negative.
lol *anonymous* Michael was
just reminding us (:
if you wouldnt have confessed, thatd have been hilariously ironic because all of the two before and after it are just minutes apart haha
anyways;
HaPpYy BirRrTttThDayY MiiChaEeLllLlL !
Okay. so, i did ALL of my homework tonight;
even the stuff thats not due until Wednesday, and i never do that.
It actually feels GOOD haha
Well i didnt really understand verse 10 until you explained it Pastor Lee, and even though that sounds pretty crazy when you say it like that, its super true.
i know a girl who keeps making the same horriblllee mistake over and over again, and even though she keeps being advised to STOP, she doesnt.
As awful as it sounds, seeing her continually hurt by screwing up is definitely helping me to stay away from doing that very same thing.
Thats one o my biggest fears; getting involved in sin so deep that i dont have the motivation to get back out! And it seems like everywhere you go, you are just motivated to jump in.
I hope that i remain that way!!
