Hey Guys! Thanks for being faithful on your devotions yesterday! There were alot of great comments!
A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
Tessa: Hey Girl! I am glad you came on! Keep up the good job!
Jessica! It was great to see you back on! We have missed you!
Michael: Sorry about the loss of your grandmother! I am glad you really did not lose her, because we know where she is! Praise the Lord she was saved!
Proverbs 21
1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
There are many GREAT things that each of you can comment on today, I am only going to talk about the last verse. Verse 30: There is NO WISDOM, NOR UNDERSTANDING, NOR COUNSEL against the Lord.
Wow... do you understand that? There is no wise way to run from God. There is no person with UNDERSTANDING (knowledge) that runs from God. There is no such thing as good counsel apart from Gods counsel!!!!!
WOW!! So many times in life we try to do things ourself, we try to seek the wisdom of the world, the counsel of the world, the knowledge or understanding of the world, while God says all of that is in vain if it is not Wisdom about God.
Think about this one verse... it puts most morning television shows and Oprah out of business!! Sorry unless you are teaching God's truth then you are not teaching truth at all!! Wow!
We need to understand the power and wisdom of God and we need to spend a good portion of our day every day seeking what God would have us learn... because it is clear... If we are not FOR GOD, then we are against HIM!!! And to be against God is FOOLISH FOOLISH FOOLISH!!!!

This passage has so many great truths in it that I could almost go verse by verse and comment on each verse, but I am just going to pick out my favorites!
I think verse 2 is great! So often we look at what is going on, and we try to justify- that is not how God looks at it. He looks at our heart!
Verse 5 is also amazing! I know that sometimes, I do things quickly to get them done and out of the way. We are to do things thoroughly or we will be in want. Whether that be actually in want of something or the time it takes us to redo it.
Verse 11 is really great too! I know sometimes if I am given intstruction on something, I can respond with pride and not want to take instruction. If we are truly wise we will respond with humility and learn from it!
The rest of the passage talks a lot about proper speech. We aren't to be willing to fight or cause problems. We need to talk properly and speak properly of others. If we do not speak correctly we will hinder our own testimony.
17 "He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich."
What I don't understand about some people is they trade a small amount of time for pleasure, and that long time afterwords paying the concequences for it. It doesn't just have to be underage sex, but it can also mean eternity as well. Because compared to eternity, our time on earth is very very very very very short. If you can't picture eternity just picture the Sahara desert. Each sand pebble stands for a thousand years. That's a long time! Even though you would eventually run out of sand pebbles, that is still a long time! Anyway, spending your life full of sinful peasures, which is less than a tenth of a pebble, doesn't seem even close to spending a trillion more pebbles in hell.
Michael, I am sorry for your loss but think how happy your grandmother is now. No more pain!
v. 2 How often do we try to convince ourselves that what we are doing or not doing is okay? It is sobering when we remember God looks and sees into our hearts and, thus, knows our motives.

In my opinion, three verses really seemed to stand out among the rest in this passage. One being verse 17 --> 17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.<-- I think this has alot to do with getting caught up in material things, which is so easy to do. When we prioritze worldly things over godly ones, nothing positive will result. In fact it will result in poverty; whether it be physical, financial etc. Rather than putting these worldy things first we should be focusing on verse 21 --> He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.<-- Living a life for the Lord and putting him first will lead to life, honour, and fullfillment.
The third, and in my opinion most powerful verse is verse 30-->There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.<-- This is so clear, that all the worldly things we take advice from and make descions based on are all counsel without the Lord. This of course is unwise counsel. Most modern tv shows, magazines, even books fall into this category. We must keep in mind much of our current society is full of ungodly messages and no wisdom or true understanding can come from it.
verse 4 is interesting, i think it is saying that if you are acting proud and of haughty heart and following in the ways of the wicked is sinning just by acting that way.
Well obviously if you are following the ways of the wicked you are sinning, but being proud? Some of us never think about it that way but here it gives the fact of it all.
Not only is it sinful then, but makes you look pretty unapproachable to other people, so keep that attitude away from yourself.
Ok now Backwards to verse 2.
That is a verse so easy to say that it is true, but hard to really understand it at the right times.
People decieve themselves all of the time, sometimes unknowingly because they dont look to God for an answer first. If we as Christians just followed what we figured was right, or did what felt right, we wouldnt be Christians!
So before really saying that we are a Christian, i think we should think about if we are really a follower of God.
Its hard! But im trying my best (:
Sometimes i will just go and do or say things without thinking, is it really right by God to say this or do this?
It seems like a hard thing to remember 100% of the time, but im working on it.
Oh Also verse 23 is good,
"Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles."
That is truuueeee. I was just talking to a girl the other day who was frustrated at a previous "bestfriend". I stay out of the problem but am always there to listen. The whole problem had to do with what one girl said and the two havent talked since, but it sure did create drama.
It can create a lot of frustrating and sifling things to have to deal with for Christians, so i really need to filter out what could damage me later before i speak.
